  1. Rocky Mountain oils are not MLM and they are great quality. This is what I use. Skip all the MLM drama. I love diffusing oils during our school day. It truly puts everyone in a better mood. And I diffuse certain blends when we’re sick or have a bad cough and it seems to help. Plus my house smells awesome.
  2. Thanks. This sounds like exactly what I need.
  3. Who has been using it? What do you think? I need an update. I’m thinking about ordering it for my 6th grader. How time intensice is it for you? How long do the lessons take? Is there independent work for them to do??
  4. I’m looking for Christmas ideas for my kids. I’d love subscription box ideas for a preteen who loves sewing, crafting, knitting, and art. She really loves needlecrafts and other types of artsy projects. And what other boxes are your favorites? I think my other kids would like Tinker Crate and Doodle Crate. Because we have food allergies I know I don’t want any type of food or cooking boxes. Ideas? Or any other gift ideas for a crafty kid?
  5. I've decided I do not want to teach my oldest child math next year. Nope. No way. I want to outsource. She will be pre algebra (7th grade). What are my options? What classes have you tried and enjoyed? I want a break!!
  6. So I don't think my fridge is working today. Stuff doesn't feel as cold as it should feel. The fridge is makin a weird humming/high pitched ringing sound. Awesome! It's so lucky 2 or 3 years old. It's an LG. If it's broken I will be so mad. So, what fridge should I get instead? I really like the side by side fridge with the freezer at the bottom. Bonus points if it has a water dispenser in the door. Help me!! What fridge will last??
  7. I have purchased it on sale. So yes it does. I think it was on sale in July? It might go on sale again this fall. Definitely watch for the sale! I always buy it during a sale.
  8. Definitely ugly. I wouldn't wear them. Sorry!
  9. Ok so my daughter has started having trouble walking and been having pain in her foot and ankle. She had her appointment with the pediatric ortho today. Probable diagnosis: tarsal coalition. I had never ever heard of this. But surgery sounds likely. I'm so upset. Anyone else ever dealt with this? Thoughts, tips, questions I should ask?? I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment.
  10. I'm so sorry!! We took a family vacation because I wanted out of the house. It helped to be away. And I put away all the leashes and good bowls and everything before we left. This was 8 years ago and I still tear up. So very sad! It is really hard. It helped us to be distracted and to not be at home.
  11. My daughter had severe head to toe eczema. It was awful. She was diagnosed with food allergies. We changed her diet. The eczema is completely gone. She is so so so much better now. She's allergic to a ton of foods with dairy, eggs, and nuts being the worst. I only used cortisone once or twice after changing her diet just to hurry along her healing, but otherwise we did it all without meds. One dr wanted her on prescription steroid creams for a year. I found a new doctor and we made diet changes and used tons of lotion (and did wet wraps).
  12. Welcome back to blogging! I love your school room - especially the exercise ball chairs!!
  13. We make tie dye t-shirts as our school uniform. My kids get new back to school pj's. We have chocolate cake for breakfast. I also buy surprises for my kids - like craft projects or things like that. Or coloring books. They can work on them as I read aloud.
  14. I'm sorry it's awkward. I totally agree that it's best not to do business with friends. But I've also discovered that everything is WAY more expensive than I ever would have imagined. We wanted to retile our bathroom and shower and add a tub. It's already plumbed and everything. Yeah. Over $15,000 for a relatively small master bath. That doesn't include the cabinets or counters. What???
  15. There are ready made games called Escape the Room. We've done one with friends and it was fun. It doesn't have locks but has ciphers and puzzles and clues. Or you can make your own, but I would definitely have several steps to solve the mystery. We just did an escape room today! Lol. It was so fun!
  16. We were given an iPad. I want to load it up with educational apps for my kids - grades 6, 4, 3, 1, and PreK I'm putting DuoLingo on there. What else do I want? And it doesn't have to be free. I definitely want math. And anything else!! Please share apps that you've in your homeschool!
  17. I always buy Back to School pj's for my kids. I usually pick up some sets at Carters when they are on sale. They like the cotton pj's that have pants and long sleeved shirts (our basement gets chilly). But my oldest daughter is too big for Carters pj's. She's a 14/16 size now. So where can I find her some cute pj's? She does want pants if possible and would prefer cotton. I looked at Justice, but wow, all they seem to have are super short shorts. I need ideas! And if I could order online that would be awesome. Bonus points if there's a sale! I just don't know where to shop for my daughter anymore. Sigh. I'm in denial that she's growing up. She's almost my height. I'm not ready for this!
  18. We arrive early and take two rows. My older children sit directly in front of us and we sit right behind them with the younger kids. We take the first two rows because most people don't seem to want to sit in front. Most people now kind of know that those are our spots and those rows are usually left open. But getting there early has been key.
  19. We only do them every other year unless a problem is suspected. We try to limit the number of x-rays that we have. And my dentist is fine with that.
  20. I was getting 5 or 6 calls a day from those Microsoft support scammers. I started blowing an emergency whistle right into the phone. They called twice and have never called my number again.
  21. I blog and I enjoy connecting with other bloggers. My blog is about homeschool stuff. I'm not great at site design either. Basically I have no idea what I'm doing! Ha!!
  22. I had Lasik done almost 10 years ago. I have loved the results. Although I do feel my eyes get drier than they used to. I also feel like I sometimes see halos at night. My night vision seems to have been affected somewhat. I see so well now - even 10 years and 5 pregnancies later. I'm really glad I did it. But the anxiety! Oh my goodness! It didn't hurt at all but I think I had a panic attack. The dr said I was the worse Lasik patient ever. They even double dosed me on Valium but it did NOTHING for me. So, make sure you take something that will actually affect you and help you relax. My recovery was super easy and I'm so glad I did it. But I'm a little embarrassed by how badly I panicked during it.
  23. The books do get progressively harder with more content. We began OT 1 in 3rd grade. I wouldn't recommend any part of the series for under 3rd grade unless it was just a younger sibling listening in.
