  1. We've had both hamsters and guinea pigs...have two girl guinea pigs right now. My vote would be for the piggies. Hamsters are nocturnal so your dc may not get much interaction with it. We love our piggies...they are not hard to care for at all. Clean the cage 1X a week - fresh food, water, hay, and some veggies/fruit. They are wonderful pets. We had our first one for five years and they two new babies we've only had since June.
  2. Rebecca, I'm so sorry that this has happened to your family. I'm happy to hear everyone is ok!

  8. Hi Michelle, I tried to view it but it said I didn't have access to it. Did you list it as private or public?
  9. Jaqui and Spy Car: You two made me laugh out loud! Thanks for the chuckle.:lol:
  10. That show is hysterical. But there is no way on earth I would ever want to be on it!! I wouldn't last 30 sec. :tongue_smilie:
  11. I agree with everyone who has already posted. I would just add two things: 1. If your children are old enough to speak for themselves and they are feeling hurt by this, encourage them to speak to Grandma themselves. I would not suggest this to the child unless the they came to me and started the conversation about what Grandma is doing. The power of a child can be enormous. 2. If Grandma has such strong convictions about homeschooling, another way to handle it is this. "Mom, I know you don't agree with homeschooling and that you don't want to support it by buying school supplies for the kids and that's fine. But, they are feeling left out and hurt by this...would you be willing to do something special with each of them that is not related to school? They just want to spend time with you and it would mean so much to them." I hope Grandma's heart softens in this matter for the sake of your kiddo's.
  12. One more vote to keep it. And truly, I do not think you need to send a note to thank them for thanking you...;)
  13. That is amazing! I was just telling dh the other day that I wanted to pull up the carpet in our finished basement and this looks like something he would like. Thank you so much for sharing it.
  14. Try this: Place a thick slice of lemon on a paper towel and microwave it on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Let it stand overnight or until the liquid has cooled. Or Pour 1/2 c. bottled lemon juice into a microwave-safe bowl or a 2-c. glass measuring cup (if you don't have a fresh lemon) and follow the same directions. You can also dilute the lemon juice with water and add several whole cloves. Wipe the microwave's insides with a paper towel soaked in a water-and-lemon-juice solution. Clean the top, bottom, sides, window, door, door seals and seams. Wipe dry.

  16. Hi Tim, I can certainly understand the desire to leave and start over somewhere fresh and leave the "rat race." But, is this your desire or a leading of the Holy Spirit that you're experiencing? It's really important to know the answer to that before doing anything else. Just because we desire or want something, doesn't mean that it's God leading us. And I know you probably know this already but it's good for us to be reminded sometimes. An area that is dark and cold and not opened to the gospel still needs Christian witnesses...probably more so then the areas that are open to it. "And let us not grow weary while doing good for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." Gal 6:9 Some are called to plant, some to water, some to harvest. You may just be a planter or waterer right now. How can we harvest if no one has planted or watered? Planting and watering are of the utmost importance. People may seem closed and unresponsive but you never know how what you've planted will blossom and take root. You may never know this side of heaven. It think this is why God encourages us to "not lose heart." It sounds as if you are discouraged but take heart. It's God's job to save - not ours. We just have to remain faithful to what God has called us to...that's it. Just remain faithful. I pray that God will encourage you and give you a fresh vision for what he has for you and your family. :001_smile:
