  1. Thank you so much for all the great replies. It's so interesting to hear so many different views! I spent last night typing up 3 pages of my own perceived pros/cons to give to my hubby to peruse. Hopefully he'll be able to sift through it and give me some kind of feedback. :tongue_smilie: Thank you all for taking time to respond -- it is much appreciated! :001_smile:
  2. :iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree: Yep, this is EXACTLY how I'm feeling! :tongue_smilie:
  3. Thanks so much! These are all excellent thoughts -- thank you for taking the time to respond. I'm thrilled to peruse the linked articles and blogs during quiet time today! :D
  4. I'm considering joining a group -- what are some pros and cons that I may not have considered? I want to make a very informed decision. And it's driving me batty. :tongue_smilie:
  5. Which one should I download and listen to in the car today?:auto: TIA!
  6. This is genius! I'm putting it on a poster above the kitchen table. Thank you! :D
  7. It's a personal preferance. Some customers have asked me to not use fondant, because they like the look of regular frosting; others have a different opinion. One bride asked me to please use EXTRA fondant, because she loves the marshmallow fondant that I make! To each her own. :001_smile:
  8. Thank you, Angela! Great info! Are you using/have you used Classical Composition? (I am looking at the samples and feeling that I am ill-equipped to teach it. :tongue_smilie:)
  9. Once I bought a bunch of garden trowels and tied a pretty note to the end with nice ribbon that said something like "Thanks for digging in and helping" or something like that. I think I got them at the $1 store and added seed packets to some. :)
  10. Stumbling around online last night, I re-ran across some thoughts on the progym....it makes sense to me, as it seems well thought out and sequential, but I'm not sure how to implement it. Classical Writing seems to be based on this framework -- are there any other programs out there? I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the whole thing, TIA! :D
  11. I posted this over on the general board yesterday, but thought I'd include it here as well for anyone interested...... A friend of mine has a new website up with devotions and activities for Lent. Check it out! :001_smile:

  13. For Valentine's Day, I made the kiddos these "Owl Love You Forever" stuffed animals. :001_smile: My first kitted project with a pattern! :D
  14. Ugh, this was terrifying last night! :tongue_smilie:I carried the sleeping kiddos to the basement and they slept on the floor while the dog and I cuddled together and watched our twitter feed for live updates. We waited it out, and I carried everyone back up stairs -- no one EVER WOKE UP through the whole thing!!! A miracle all the way around! :D
  15. Anyone have a favorite CD of Hymns? Something with vocals? BONUS POINTS: Any good celtic hymn cd's out there? :lurk5:
  16. Ok, so we found a venue for my in-law's surprise 40th anniversary party -- now we need a theme! They aren't really traditional folks, and would probably appreciate something "fun" much more than something "fancy/pretty." The hall where we are having it is very beige and will need some sprucing up to look festive....got any ideas? I'm thinking something like "Still Wild About Each Other After 40 Years" and a jungle theme. Or "The Last 40 Years Have Been a Circus" with a circus theme. Any ideas? Are the previous ideas dumb/in poor taste? :lurk5:
  17. I use a toothbrush, water, and cascade crystals. Sometimes I use vinegar/baking soda and a toothbrush on it, and that works well too. :001_smile:
  18. It would pretty much need to be indoors, as the weather here this time of year is very unpredictable. :tongue_smilie: Otherwise, a fun BBQ would be perfect!
  19. My awesome in-laws will be celebrating their 40th anniversary soon, and DH and I are thinking of throwing them a party. I'd like to make it nice, but we need to keep costs WAY down. I'd be happy to host it at my home, but we really don't have that kind of space to accomodate everyone. Many of those attending would probably feel nonplussed if the party was in the church basement or some such. Anyone have any other ideas? We are short on time and cash, but they deserve a nice celebration. :D
  20. Looks like the Knit Picks set I was eyeing is a winner! :D v-girl, I'm around the same age and learned from a friend and by watching you-tube videos. :D I'm a bit scared to get the interchangables, they look intimidating. I haven't knit in the round yet. :001_huh:
