  1. Wasn't there an episode where Alton made one big batch of some kind of dough and turned it in to four different kinds of cookies? I've watched bits of the Cookie Clause episode and it doesn't seem to have the info I need. Did I dream it? (highly likely!) :tongue_smilie:
  2. I'm looking on ravelry, but I'm sure the hive has better ideas!:D Just as the title says, I need it to be quick and simple, yet impressive. (Ooops, I got in the Christmas crafting mode a bit late this year -- HA!!!)
  3. Thanks so much - VERY helpful advice! We are already knee-deep in Calico Critters -- ha! :D Thanks again! Melissa
  4. I have a 6 year old dd, and I'm trying to decide which of these she would enjoy receiving for a Christmas gift. She loved Old Mother West Wind, so I'm trying to find something similar. Beautiful illustrations would be a bonus! :) Thanks! Also: Looks like there are several Brambly Hedge books -- is there one that is far better than the others?
  5. I'm in the process of revamping my Sneaky Chef/Deceptively Delicious style of cooking and I want to add white bean puree to my repertoire...what kind of beans should I use? Ideally, I'm looking for high in protein with little to no taste. :D
  6. Woohoo!!!:party::party::party::party: Yep, crazy fireworks here too!
  7. LOVE the squirrel earrings!!!!! The Rally Squirrel was actually walking around walmart the other day when I was grocery shopping. He's everywhere!! (Hi, Chelle! :seeya:)
  8. I'm trying to access some fun math in my account, but I can't seem to log in -- is it down for anyone else??? :tongue_smilie:
  9. Is anyone using these? I"m *trying* to use them, but I feel as if I'm wandering around aimlessly. :tongue_smilie: Up to this point, we've used Biblioplan/SOTW which has been so straightforward and easy to use....I love the *idea* of the task cards being so open ended, but they are SO open ended that I'm having a hard time getting us going with them. I had planned on using these cards along with Childhood of Famous Americans, the American Adventures Series, Sonlight booklist, and Veritas Press booklists...this is proving to be next to impossible for me. I admit that my American history knowledge is sketchy at best, and that it's hard to know from book titles/descriptions exactly what books to pair with what topic. I realized that I'm used to much more hand-holding along the lines of recommended books and such. I was planning on using the Usborne History Encyclopedia for looking up and researching the topics on the cards, but many of the topics on the cards aren't covered in that book. I really want to be able to use and love this system as a way to give us a great, fun, inspirational, one-year American History overview, but I'm really struggling. Sorry this has gotten so long. :banghead: Does anyone have any thoughts on how to accomplish what I'm trying to accomplish? THANK YOU if you've read all this! :tongue_smilie:
  10. Do I need to order the "recommended resources" for this, or are they just....recommended? :D Thanks!
  11. I'm trying to untag a photo of myself that someone else uploaded to Facebook, and it seems like the "untag" option is gone. I removed the pic from my profile, but when I look at the pic it still has my name under it. Any way to get rid of it? Thanks!
  12. Thanks so much for the responses. We are in the "grin and bear it" stage, for sure. Even worse, I just saw that my son is starting to break out as well! :banghead: This coming week was supposed to be "Camp Grandma" for the kids so the Mr and I could have an amazing anniversary celebration! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Good grief!
  13. My sweet DD has poison ivy -- anyone have a miracle cure? For the most part she feels fine (her eye is quite swollen, and that bothers her a bit) but she looks kind of awful. :crying: She has a little patch on her tummy, back, and arm, but it's mostly all on her face. We went to the ER in the middle of the night two nights ago because she woke up miserable and puffy. She's on omnipred and benedryl. She DETESTS the hydrocortizone cream they recommended and cries when I put it on. So far our best bets are keeping frozen veggie bags on the area and having her knit to keep her little hands busy. She's in good spirits and wants to fun around and be wild. :D Is there anything I can do to help her heal quickly?
  14. We're looking for reasonably priced romantic safe/comfy/clean close enough to French Quarter to walk places, but not loud Anyone stayed anywhere awesome?:bigear:
  15. We're hoping to memorize the VP timeline this year, and I'd love to utilize the song CD's they have for this. My question is: will it turn out to be one big song? Or are we going to learn one "chunk" of cards to the tune of Yankee Doodle and another "chunk" to the tune of Silent Night? Is it seamless? I know this is a bizarre question. :tongue_smilie: Thanks!
  16. I'm using blogger to document our year (kind of a yearbook/scrapbook/learning journal/photo album). I started doing this in February, but I'd like to go back and add entries about things that we did before that (Sept - Jan). I'm picky, but I don't want those entries to show up as "new" -- I want to tuck them away where they chronologically belong. Is this possible? :bigear: Thanks!
  17. The timeline is not included?? I thought they used a tweaked version of the VP timeline - how does one get the cc version??
  18. Yeah, the ones I've looked at seem to run from March (or April?) to Mid-August.
