  1. Does anyone have any recommendations on an open-and-go art program that my K'er and 3rd grader could do together? The K'er LOVES to do artsy things and has excellent motor skills. We do a picture/artist study already, so I'm just looking for something to help them build and refine their skills since they both enjoy it. :) Thanks! :)
  2. I had these bookmarked. I really did. (Or did I just dream that I did?????:tongue_smilie:) Does anyone have a list or a link to share? It would be sooooo helpful! Thanks!
  3. Where can I find a chronological list of major artists? Also, wasn't there a list of famous scientists floating around somewhere? Ack! :lurk5:
  4. I have 5 couples attending, plus quite a few individuals. Great idea about serving something to drink similar to what will be with the cake at the reception or party they are having. All of these orders are for cupcakes, groom's cakes, mini cake favors, or other sculpted cakes -- no tiered "traditional" wedding cakes -- they make me break out into a nervous, cold sweat just thinking about them. ;) Thanks so much for the ideas! :D
  5. Great ideas, ladies! Thanks for the thoughts! :001_smile: Mark your calendars for April 1st -- no foolin'! :001_smile:
  6. :D The premise is that I have several customers who are undecided about what flavor they want....so, I'm having a tasting so that they can have a small portion of each flavor and make a decision. Should I have the different icings on the side so they can mix-n-match? Should I serve milk (because to me, cake= glass of milk) or coffee? Both? Should I have something salty as a palate cleanser between all the sweet stuff? Any other thoughts? I'm totally open to suggestions!!!
  7. Have you ever been to a cake tasting? Have you ever hosted a cake tasting? Any tips for pulling off a successful one???? Any big "make sure you" or "make sure you don't" things to remember?:lurk5: Thanks!!!!
  8. I'm not really expecting them to "get it," but I'm looking for a good movie for Roman Movie Night for my kiddos, ages 7 and 4. Are there lots of scary parts? Can you reccommen something better for that age? I mainly want them to see the dress/lifestyle of the time. Thanks SO MUCH! :001_smile:
  9. :party:I went to Goodwill last night and they had an awesome purple velvet dress like the one the doll is wearing in the link above! And it fits! All it needs is some trim and a belt and I'm good to go. WOOHOO!!!! I'm so excited. Thank you for the help!!!! (AND the dress was 50% off the Goodwill price. AMAZING!)
  10. OOOOH! These are good! My son is going to love the knight costume! :)
  11. I'm taking the kiddos to a Medieval Feast where we are supposed to attend "in costume.":001_huh: I don't think I have anything that fits the bill...I don't sew...I can do Goodwill, etc, but need to know what to look for...HELP! :001_smile: TIA!
  12. We completed GWG level 2 and then switched to CLE. Even after completing GWG2, we went back to CLE 105 to "catch up." You should be able to go into AT LEAST GWG 2 (maybe even 3) after having some CLE under your belt. HTH!:001_smile:
  13. My son recently read Misty of Chincoteague and LOVED it. I looked on Amazon, and there seem to be a bunch of other books like this by the same author... Is there a particular order they should be read? TIA!
  14. OOOOH! In our house, we say "emu" instead. No idea how that started, but it's been that way as long as we've had kids.
  15. Congrats!:001_smile: Let me know if you need help moving. Seriously. There is no way I could have done it a few months ago without help from some friends. :grouphug:
  16. There was a bizarre thread a while back about putting Vicks on the bottom of their feet and it miraculously making kids stop coughing....haven't tried it, but I sure am curious! :D
  17. That's so sweet!:001_smile: Wanna know our Valentine tradition? We get Church's chicken -- every year for the past 10 years! It happened on accident the first year, the second year I was pregnant/sick and didn't want the fancy dinner, and we've continued it on every year. :D
  18. I'm right there with you! Last Wednesday night I took DH to the ER, and they did surgery on him last Friday. We are just now getting back to some kind of normal. :grouphug:
  19. One of Dh's friends is coming over in a bit to discuss pulling his daughter out of public school and homeschooling her. My husband said he thinks she is 11 or 12 and is behind in many subjects -- the school is not helping her get caught up, and that is one of the big reasons they are wanting to homeschool.... What are some curriculum choices I could suggest for this family? (I'm only one step ahead of my own kids -- I haven't studied this far ahead! :D) Thanks!!!
  20. I'm helping DS work on some Cub Scout requirements, and one of them is to find out how "duty to God" relates to our particular faith. I want to give him a good, solid answer and I'm having a really hard time. HELP! :bigear:
  21. OOOH! I want one! :001_smile: Can we also add a card that says "Daddy is SLEEPING!" for those of us who have DH's who work at night?
