  1. We started with the 3rd grade DVD of Home Art Studio and love it! I wish we had started with the K level. I think she has a few sample lessons on her site to try out the program. I am also interested in hearing about Harmony Art Mom's art and music program for use later. It looks good.
  2. I'm not, but I should be. I pushed it off to next Monday.....
  3. Very valid point, Michelle. It would take time to line it up. I just cheated and used the timeline pages in the DK's Children's Encyclopedia of American History. It was easier to figure out when in history some books and events took place. GuestHollow might be more of what you are looking for.
  4. Why not use the Sonlight schedule you have, but add in the fun stuff from Guesthollow? (She does have a lot more fun stuff. And I think that makes the days better for the kids and they retain more.) Cross out anything in the schedule (Sonlight) you don't like. Then take a couple of hours perusing Guesthollow's suggestions and add them onto your Sonlight schedule where they would fit in best. This is coming from a girl who loves to tweak till I'm happy with the results. Just warning you.
  5. Wow, Jenn, generous as always! Looks great; thank you!!!!! :hurray:
  6. Thank you, boscopup, for your quick response. I prefer to be "completely on our own". Just wondered if they had that option for our oldest.
  7. We are moving and are considering relocating to Alabama (to be closer to my parents). This will be my oldest's 10th grade year. He actually wanted to try PACyber (we currently live in PA) this year because he loved their course selection. A lot of computer and design courses that would be a stretch for this mama to teach. ;) I was wondering if there was anything offered like this in the state of Alabama. We have a lot of options like this in Pennsylvania, but liked PACyber because he can work at his own pace.
  8. We enjoyed Artistic Pursuits, but you can't do that every year. It gets boring; we needed a change of pace. I love the chalk lessons on Hodgepodge's blog. They are fun! Now I'm checking out Home Art Studio since it received so many votes. :)
  9. I've always loved Patrick Stewart, but now I adore him! He is so eloquent and real.
  10. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I hope you find her safe and it was just a miscommunication!
  11. I'm at booth #515 Wholeshare. Please stop by and say hi. I'd love to meet some fellow forum members!
  12. This is a great idea! I don't have a list to offer, but what about the Dewey Decimal system as a base? http://mcpl.info/childrens/how-use-dewey-decimal-system It would definitely make them branch out i n their interests and get more familiar with the library.
  13. I do love Lands' End and I have had great success there. That being said..... I have a much smaller size top to look for. Not sure about the selection for what you are looking for. I think they are having a sale on their swimwear today.
  14. I'll be there this weekend representing my company, Wholeshare. I'm sure I'll manage to find some time to do a little shopping. If you are going to be there, please stop by and say hi. I'd love to meet some of you! I'm a little nervous; I'm always on the shopping side of a booth. I went to the CHAP convention a few weeks ago for fun with a friend. I definitely had more appreciation for the work the vendors were doing.
  15. You could make your own on http://www.edhelper.com/puzzles.htm. You could use the words from your spelling lessons. It would be a nice supplement to liven the lessons up.
  16. We are at only $4600, but I don't think what he is having done is as extensive as what some of your children are getting done. It's just routine braces.
  17. How have I never heard of this!?! Now I want this.....adding another book to my list. :drool5:
  18. May 31st will be our last day!!!!!! (I will be at CHAP on Saturday. :driving: )
  19. Multiple choice would be a HUGE problem for my son as well. :D To keep him focused, I have him watch the lecture on the cd, then do the actual lesson away from the computer. He only goes back on to enter in his work and correct any he gets wrong. This prevents any "guessing"; his work is already written out and shown in his workbook.
  20. This is a great idea!!! I love it! You are making a very wise choice. :hurray: I so want to join you. I just need to think about it a little longer........ :leaving:
  21. Absolutely. They show you how to correct the problem. I am not one for having the latest and greatest for everything. Frankly, it can be wasteful and unneccesary. That being said, I 100% believe TT 2.0 is worth the extra money!!!!!!!! I talked to the creator of the program last year at a convention. I thanked him for the new version and told him to keep going till they were all redone. He laughed and said that was what all the moms were telling him.
