  1. Ok, so I'm sitting here cruising the board and just happened to read the title of this post out loud. My dd (engineering/robotics student) said "Whaaaaaaattttttt, now what did I do?" My own little hs nerd:D
  2. Thanks, Kristine! Any other advice out there? :bigear:
  3. All of your projects are so pretty!!! You've all motivated me-back to the quilting and maybe I'll have pictures to share soon!
  4. So, hubby unexpectantly lost his job last week. I wasn't planning on going back to work until next year when youngest dd left for college. I had planned on retraining/volunteering this year to fill in the resume after almost a 20 year professional gap. My background was social services & education positions. I've homeschooled other kiddos, tutored, parttime job at the library, done Sunday school/VBS, etc. Anyone have resume examples for sah/hs moms? I'm lost when it comes to putting words on paper and it seems so daunting!!!!
  5. Thanks, Erica, it sounds like a good fit for me. It's close to home and they're full & part time. Anyone else?:bigear:
  6. Has anyone done this? What was it like and how'd you like it? What shift did you work and what was the pay like? Would you recommend it? :bigear:
  7. Thanks for the suggestions-off to research! :auto:
  8. Upside of dh losing his job-he's a much better cook than I am:D Downside-no health insurance (OK, no paycheck either but we'll deal with that). So, can anyone recommend companies that offer insurance for their pt employees? We're outside Indianapolis. Thanks for any suggestions!!
  9. I repeatedly ran across the 1.5 million estimate when I started hs in the middle '90's so it must be substantially higher than that.
  10. It's 2nd quarter her freshman year and she has Calc 3/Physics 3/ECE/software design finals Monday-Thursday. I just can't imagine adding to the stress. I guess I just needed to hear other moms say it was OK. Thanks for the reassurance!!

  12. Hubby unexpectantly lost his job Tuesday:glare: We're going to be OK (thank you very much, Dave Ramsey!) Youngest dd knows-hard to hide when dh is hanging out here-however, we haven't told oldest dd who is a freshman this year. She's heading into finals next week for her 2nd quarter. We've always shared the big stuff and I feel guilty not telling her. It won't change anything for her and she can't do anything to help. I guess I just need to hear it's OK not to tell her until she's home on break a week from Saturday. Any advice appreciated!

  14. :grouphug: I am so sorry that you and your church family are going through this! I think you'll know when it's time to go, if that time comes, and feel "released". In my mind, if he stole church funds he should be prosecuted. I think there should be legal ramifications to his actions and he should be reported and held accountable. It would be no different than me stealing from my place of employment. Again, :grouphug:
  15. I grew up on a dairy farm-yeah, nothing like milking cows for two hours before/after going to school:glare:-we all drank raw milk and never had a problem that I remember. Of course, we did make sure the cows stayed out of the wild onions-now that we wouldn't drink :ack2:
  16. Showoff:D But the darnedest thing is in the middle of June I'll be complaining about the heat, too:lol:
  17. I could of written your exact post three weeks ago. No words of wisdom to get through the bad cut but thankfully it does grow out! And I will never, ever let someone else touch my head:glare:
  18. My dd is a horsewoman/computer geek-she really confuses me with what she thinks smells good:D
  19. Wow, that's exciting:hurray: Where's he going to be?
  20. Make sure your kiddos take the PSAT-and take it seriously!!! No one had ever mentioned how important this test could be. Our oldest dd was a National Merit winner which totally changed all our college plans. While we knew she did well on tests, we didn't realize how well until she took the PSAT. Both dds said that none of the kids around them seem to be taking it seriously. The NM designation and follow up SAT/ACT scores put her on the radar early with the schools and she was offered many unique opportunities to check out the schools early and make connections with the engineering departments. Because of being a NM winner, she is at Rose-Hulman studying computer engineering with very little out of pocket. Our initial plan was community college then finish at a four year school but because of NM she's able to attend an extremely rigorous private school which hadn't even been on our radar because of the cost-$50,000/yr:eek: So, my $.02-start taking the PSAT in 8th or 9th grade for practice since only the score in 11th grade counts.
  21. {{{Denise}}} lifting you and your family in prayers :grouphug::grouphug:
