  1. I believe it is wrong. But yes, I've had friends who were gay and I've had friends who were lesbians. They know where I stand, but it doesn't mean I dislike them as a person, and by no means would I sit and lecture them on it.
  2. :bigear: I am HORRIBLE at getting up early. Like, seriously. I love how my day goes when I get up early...love the way I feel, etc. But seriously, I really am just awful at it. (example: This morning, I was vaguely awake/groggy when DH was eating breakfast/getting ready to go to work around 7. I thought to myself, eh, I should go ahead and get up, otherwise I'll fall back asleep and when my alarm goes off at 8 I'll be dead to the world. But I was just so darn comfortable...and still sleepy....so I didn't get up. And I remember nothing until I woke up at 9:30) :glare: I'm a notorious sleeper. I sleep through everything. If any of the kids wake up at night, DH gets up and takes care of it. It would just be too much of a hassle for him to have to wake me up, may as well do it himself  ...and in high school I was voted 'most likely to sleep through life' when we did our senior personalities. Not much has changed... ETA: Sometimes I wonder if I have some sort of health problem. I know it sounds stupid, but I'm like, seriously!!! Some sort of deficiency or something?? Idk...
  3. 1. I know very little about Islam. Just sayin. :D 2. I don't THINK that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. But...I wouldn't bet on it, either. It's one of those things that I don't feel the need to know, kwim? oh, and.. 3. Christians and Jews DO worship the same God.
  4. That's a really great idea! I like it... :) Oh, and I forgot to mention in my last post, I do totally get what the OP is saying... I didn't make any really horrendous decisions when I moved out (17 and my freshman year of college) but I know that sometimes kids can feel like they 'have to go to college' even if they have no idea why. Kwim? I went to college to get the degree everyone expected me to get, thinking that it was *probably* what I wanted. Most kids don't know what they want to do at that age, anyway. I wouldn't change going, that's when I met DH (11 years ago lol), but once we got married (when I was 18) I stopped going to school. I still don't know what I would want to do if I were to go and have a career. Maybe someday I will, like once DD is heading to college  - maybe then I'll have the time and/or the desire!
  5. :iagree: Yeah, I don't want them thinking they can live off me forever, kwim? And I won't be taking care of them at that point the way I did when they were younger...
  6. Wow. I've never even heard of most of the places listed!!! But mine are younger... I like the Children's Place, Gap, Crazy 8, some OshKosh, and sometimes Gymboree for boys (but a lot of their stuff is too cutesy, or the sale stuff just isn't sale enough for me!!) - DS7 in particular picks out his own clothes, and I'll get whatever he likes. Graphic Ts and the like don't bother me at all. He is my really skinny one, and TCP jeans (with the adjustable waist tightened up! lol) look good on him. And they look 'cool'. :) DS5 still doesn't really care all that much. :) He had some Crazy 8 jeans last year though, and I didn't really care for them. DD is only 2, so there is TONS of cute stuff out there for her. I don't like TCP for girls, though, aside from a few basic t shirts I've bought there, and maybe some jeans or skirts. But in general, not a huge fan. She may like it when she gets older though, so whatever. For her I like a lot of Carters, Gymboree, Crazy 8, and some other random stuff thrown in. She always has a lot of Rare Editions dresses - that's where we get her Christmas and Easter dresses, and they have a LOT available for up to size 16 girls. From what I can see, they still make the same styles (basically) in all sizes. I guess they sell at department stores? Idk, I never buy them anywhere except at the warehouse. :D I like Kohl's for DD, too. I have gotten a couple cheap things there for the boys, but they don't hold up so well. DD just has so many clothes, they don't get worn as often. Oh, and I hate Old Navy. I've bought a few ON things at a consignment sale in the past year, bc they are cute, but I know the quality :glare: ...
  7. :bigear: Yeah, that's me sitting here reading all these replies. We have a PS3, PS2, N64 (yep, old school), and Sega Genesis (yep, even more old school). We kind of want a Wii and DS7 REALLY wants a DS for Christmas... but idk if it is in the budget anyway. He (DS7) really likes video games. We only let him play an hour a week...well, actually it's become that he can play on Sunday afternoons until we tell him to stop (usually from like 2ish to 6ish??) but he really seems to get into it and I question if he's a more addictive type, as well. Idk if it would be better to let him play more? But we'd have to get more games...he can't play Lego Star Wars and Avatar THAT much! lol. But I guess like right now I feel like he's SO into being able to do it and I don't know if it would kind of lose its appeal if it wasn't such a big deal. But at the same time, idk if that would just end up with him playing constantly, either. I'm at a loss... DS5 will play but he doesn't really care. (DH is a gamer, but he usually only plays after the kids go to bed and/or on weekends). I like some games, but I'm pretty picky. Anyway... any wise words??
  8. 8pm as many nights as possible. Some nights it doesn't happen that way, with church and other events, but usually at least 4-5 nights a week it's 8pm.
  9. Hmm...well I can't see the video. As far as the comments on fb...I don't necessarily disagree. I'm not trying to be rude or snarky, I promise!!! I just don't see what is bad about not having to be the only person who can possibly feed my child. I know that sounds terrible! But it just doesn't appeal to me, personally. I like that I could just hand a bottle to whomever during busy times and they can feed the baby. I still fed them most of the time but to me it takes a lot of pressure off of having to be the ONLY one. I know not everyone feels like that. It's just my opinion and experience. And I also know that some breastfeeding moms are awesome at it - that sounds weird  but what I'm saying is that, like, I had a family member who was seriously stressed over it all the time. She wouldn't let other people feed the baby with a bottle, even if she had one available. She would never leave the baby at all, for a LONG time! I know a lot of that may not have to do with how she chose to feed her baby, and there are attachment things there as well, but I guess what really got me about it was that she was always so STRESSED over it. Like she was doing it because she felt like she had to, kwim? Like in her mind was this perfect mom-woman, who followed formula xyz in order to have perfect children, etc. I'm totally pro breastfeeding, don't get me wrong. I actually would have liked to breastfeed DD!! But her NICU stay made that pretty impossible - I could have done it had I really committed to it, but there was so much going on...anyway, I guess to me a woman should do what she wants to do and what works for her family instead of being pressured to do either. So I guess I just went in a great big circle... :tongue_smilie:
  10. Thanks. :) (I hope I didn't sound rude in the last reply, I forgot to say that then! lol) By the time we go she'll be older - probably 3-4. No biggie. Even now I highly doubt she would consent to sleeping in a pack n play. :D But all this info is great. I subscribed to this so I can look back on it when planning time comes around!!
  11. Not gonna lie, I find it stupid. Things completely unrelated to breast cancer awareness on fb statuses does what exactly?? Grr...:glare:
  12. I actually voted other bc I LOVE my grandma's meatloaf. Seriously, it's yummy. Other meatloaf, questionable... it just depends. :D
  13. Hmm... well, we'd be driving, there is no point flying there when it's only maybe a 12 hour drive. And with all the things I'm seeing regarding some of the cheap offsite ways to stay, that makes me :001_huh: at the cost of the Disney owned hotels... we are too big for any of the value ones. Another thing is, if we stay at any of the Disney hotels and DON'T want to pay an arm and a leg, it's everyone in the same room for a week. :glare: Not sure about that...but free dining is definitely tempting. sigh. Who knows...
  14. we need like buttons. I was going to 'like' this.
  15. I was just looking at it and it looks like for 4 day premium passes they are around 170 each, 5 day 180, etc. :) I'm looking at possibly going next October. Here's hoping. :D
  16. A couple of questions: Is free dining ever offered during Homeschool Days? Do you have to stay on site for it? The other meal plan that Disney offers (that isn't free lol) - do you have to stay on site for that one? If you stay off site and pay parking, is it for the day (even if you leave) or do you have to pay it again when you come back? I think that's it...at the moment. I'm strongly considering next October at this point. Just trying to work out a basic cost to see if its possible or if it'll need to wait another year. I don't mind doing some meals, but realistically I know that I won't do all of them at a condo. We would do breakfast (but I hadn't thought about character breakfasts) but other than that... maybe half of our dinners? If that? We also have a pain with staying on site because there are 5 of us. :/
  17. Oh, and my DS both wear the same shoes they wear all week. They don't have multiple pairs of shoes - I'd like to get them some, but considering that their 'church wear' isn't all that different from regular day wear (khaki, brown, or plaid shorts with a polo vs. any shorts - mostly khaki, plaid, and brown with a regular shirt), dressy shoes would probably look silly. DD only has one pair of summer shoes left that fit her - they are flip flops. They don't match everything but I'm NOT buying a new pair of summer shoes in September for my 2yo. That's just stupid.
  18. I wear flip flops. All year round. I occasionally wear my wedge sandals, but it's a bother. I'd rather be wearing flip flops. :D The only shoes I'll happily wear instead of flip flops would be my boots, in season. I sing on the worship team and can verify that NO shoes are comfortable for the length of time that we stand up there. I can wear my most comfortable (my boots or flip flops) or my least comfortable, and either way when I come off stage my feet are hurting a little.
  19. I don't know that those are requirements that are ever in the minds of the people looking to hire a youth pastor - more that those are who apply. Youth pastors, on average, don't stay youth pastors for a long time, and most older pastors aren't looking to do youth anymore. That's been our experience anyway. Never would have minded older youth pastors (though I don't think we have particularly young ones anyway - last ones were around 40, current around 35), but, like I said, it has to do with who is available to take the job.
  20. I use the map work and discussion questions. I've used some of the student pages but overall I'm not really pleased with the illustrations/coloring pages. I'll still buy the others, though. :)
