  1. No, I've never seen that. Is that the MCT I see mentioned here?
  2. Seriously, LOF makes math so much fun for my non-mathy kids. I need something fun for this non-language arts mom! I realized recently how important it is that I enjoy the curriculum. Any interesting, non-dry language arts programs? I've tried IEW and don't want to go there again. I'd love something all-inclusive (spelling, grammar, writing) that does not take a lot of teacher planning time. This would be for elementary and middle school. Suggestions please!!
  3. I had a lump a few years ago and they had me waiting at least a week! There was no rush . So glad you are going Tuesday. Mine was just a cyst that disappeared on its own.
  4. What a great idea! Minecraft assignments. We are studying ancient Egypt and ds12 started building it on Minecraft.
  5. Does anyone wear woven shirts on a regular, everyday basis? I wear t-shirts all the time, but after about 2 months they are stretched out, have holes in them, generally just don't look good. My mom was here last weekend and she was wearing a woven shirt that looked crisp and clean and she's had it for 6 years! It is nicely made (from Talbots) and doesn't need to be ironed...that's what normally keeps me away from woven shirts (the ironing). Is this everyone's experience? Do you wear woven shirts on a regular basis instead of t-shirts? I don't care about buying new clothes every season to follow trends, I just want my clothes to last. What's your experience? Also, I just realized I feel much more comfy in knit shirts because I can move more freely. I wonder if there's a good solution...
  6. Great idea! I love index cards... And tea!
  7. You're probably right and that makes me even more happy with the dress I decided to keep because I know I'll wear it again. My other cousin's wedding was 2 years ago and the dress I wore would probably be catergorized as evening and it has sat in my closet ever since.:tongue_smilie: Too bad these are siblings, otherwise I could wear the same dress to both weddings!
  8. I recently purchased 3 different dresses trying to find the perfect one to wear to my cousin's wedding which will be at 7pm. On the receipts 2 of the dresses are listed as "daytime dress" and one is listed as "day dress". I honestly have not bought a dress in quite a long time, but why are these listed as "day"? I guess I'm extra annoyed because I plan to wear it in the evening. :001_huh: I ultimately don't care that I didn't buy an "evening dress"... I just never knew there were certain dresses for certain times of the day.
  9. The following is a true story... Last night 30 minutes before 10 people were coming to our house for dinner, I made a horrifying discovery. I was frantically cooking and cleaning up my kitchen when I opened a low cabinet used to store potatoes and onions. I noticed a rotting potato so I pulled it out. I noticed a smell so I pulled more out. That's when the smell got deadly and I saw hundreds of ..... maggots! I almost died. I have had fruit flies and pantry moths in my kitchen, but never this. Dh got it all cleaned out before anyone came and I said, "Let's just keep this between us!" And I won't be storing food in there anymore. We brought in fans, I sprayed lysol and the smell went away.
  10. Anything from tinmanpress.com. My kids love them!
  11. I started LOF today too and while putting my math-hating dd to bed she said, "I want to do a math lesson!" I just ordered LOF fractions for my ds who is struggling. Yay for Fred!
  12. I am using Daily Grammar Practice with my kids. I love it and so do they. It's very simple, but they are learning basic grammar. Daily Grammar Practice
  13. Just last weekend I showed these pics to dh and read Pretty in Pink's post to inspire us on a weekend of purging the house! We got off to a good start, but we just have too much stuff!! I love the simplicity in these photos.
  14. I am going to be seeing a physical therapist/personal trainer next week for $60 an hour.
  15. I did my laundry room today! Threw away a ton of stuff and wiped down the shelves. Now if only I can get rid of my ugly linoleum!
  16. Don't know if this is the best idea, but when I am at my wit's end with the kids I have to separate them so I don't completely lose it. I tell them that because of their behavior, they are "only children" for the rest of the day (or at least a few hours). Meaning they are each in different rooms with no contact with the other kids. I call them down individually to get things done with them, then send them back and get someone else. They HATE it. But the day goes so much more smoothly!!!Then they act a bit better once I allow them to be together again. This keeps me sane. I don't do it very often, only when the fighting is non-stop.
  17.:lol: Just today my kids were riding scooters at a YMCA skate park when ds12's scooter started making a rattling sound. I told him to go ask the guys in the office thinking surely they could help him and would want his scooter to be safe. He came back and told me the guy inside said, "I don't know anything about scooters, but you can go over and use the tools over there to tighten it up. You know Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey." :tongue_smilie:
  18. Hi, I'm MunRoLy in San Diego. I have 4 kiddos and have been homeschooling for 10 years. I was on the old boards, then took a long break when the new boards started, now I'm back and love learning new things! We love homeschooling and I can't imagine life any other way...although sometimes the thought crosses my mind that all my kids could be out of the house everyday...
  19. I love my Moleskine journals and have been agonizing over what kind of planner to use for homeschooling. Funny thing is, I've been homeschooling for 10 years and have never used a planner! But now with 4 kids and 1 entering highschool I know it is necessary. All that to say, I just ordered the planner you linked and think it will fit my needs perfectly!
  20. The chalkboard paint would be fun...I wonder how well that goes onto this cheap pressed board. It's kind of rough.
