  1. @GaHadley - who were you before? Now we have to remember a new "name" LOL
  2. I have far too many. Tall boots ankle boots (brown and black) lots of clog type shoes - crocs, etc. sandals slip on gardening shoes hiking shoes (which also double a heavy-duty gardening work) dress shoes for winter and summer It adds up to about 26 pairs - yikes. I need to do some weeding.
  3. I've been doing a lot of online and youtube research. But, sometimes it's just nice to have a book in hand. I'm oldschool. 🙂
  4. These are the books I am looking at: https://www.amazon.com/Lawn-Gone-Low-Maintenance-Sustainable-Alternatives/dp/1607743140/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= https://www.amazon.com/Life-After-Lawns-Waterwise-Garden/dp/1492955108/ref=pd_ybh_a_9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=WT9Z3YG12H33RYAMFGY5 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1580176658/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AKBQ15NK0M9FF&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1604693320/ref=crt_ewc_title_huc_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A206REPBOBTPVJ https://www.amazon.com/Gaias-Garden-Guide-Home-Scale-Permaculture-ebook/dp/B005GLMASS/ref=sr_1_1?crid=WW96J7OBDPL1&dchild=1&keywords=gaia's+garden+a+guide+to+home-scale+permaculture%2C+2nd+edition&qid=1588269565&sprefix=gaia's+garden%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-1
  5. I was able to preview one of the books. Thanks for mentioning that! I bought 2 books from this bookseller: https://bookshop.org/ which supports local booksellers. The rest I'll wait for in the hopes that libraries will begin to open up in the next couple of weeks (hope springs eternal!)
  6. I'm not terribly concerned. Some people in my thread about waiting it out or buying books mention that their libraries have remained available for contactless pick up only (no browsing in the library). I think that is a great idea to start with.
  7. I apologize if this has been posted already... or essential oils...
  8. This is long, but I know there are many Austen fans here...
  9. That's a good idea. I might try that for one or two and see how well it goes. Thanks.
  10. Some of them are used but the prices are not much better than new. like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-No-Mow-Yards-Amazing-Alternatives/dp/1604692383/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= I was also hoping libraries would do some kind of no contact pick up but there has been nothing. Non-essential gov't is closed and that's that.
  11. I like to buy them too - if I know I'm going to use them. I like to borrow a bunch from the library and pick the 1 or 2 that I'll use. So, I'm wondering if I should splurge on 3-5 books I'm eyeing or just wait it out. They all have good reviews, but the last gardening book I bought without seeing first was a complete dud (it had great reviews but was not what I thought it was).
  12. First off, I'm not a Kindle person. I've tried with several books but I do not like it. Besides, several the books I'm eyeing are gardening books. I much prefer to preview those types of books before I actually buy one. But, who knows how long the library will be shut down and the growing season is upon us. None of the books I'm interested in are found cheap... I think all the used book sellers have raised their prices. I've bought a few fun books already but I just don't want to break the bank on all these books I'm looking at. WWYD???
  13. I had to laugh at this one because a friend posted this on her FB page. She has been my main source of the memes I post here. Someone commented with a long missal how social distancing isn't really a good answer, and not overwhelming the system (and how USA missed it's chance). Then someone commented on his comment about how they were right and "we need tests!!" Do they know what one is? It.was.epic.....
  14. This made me laugh. I was just thinking yesterday about a conversation I had with a lady at church a few years ago. I don't remember what started it but it ended with her wondering incredulously, "Who sews anymore?". Now the topic is "Does anyone have any elastic?" LOL.
  15. @Negin Goodness! I'm not saying it's offensive or inappropriate. Heck, I would have no place to talk since I have contributed a large portion of the memes here. I honestly have no idea what his memes mean in connection to Covid quarantine (like the person who didn't understand the meme I put up about Red Dawn). I know there's been a show about Ted Bundy on Netflix for some time though. In another way - I'm not getting the joke. 🙂 I get the Tiger King ones even though I've never seen that show (and I think they're mostly hilarious).
  16. how do you know your levels? Are you getting bloodwork often? I haven't had mine D levels checked in a couple of years - and they were low then. (inside a lot and allergy sufferer too)>
  17. @Negin I don't get the Ted Bundy references either. I know who he is, but I don't understand his connection to COVID.
  18. Does anyone know of a good computer program for landscaping design. I would prefer one where I can take a photo of my house and manipulate items from that. But, it's not a requirement. I don't mind paying *some* money for a good program - but not hundreds of dollars. It would be nice if I could try it first before buying.
  19. Similar conversation with my husband this afternoon before he left for the store.... but he's getting chocolate muffins instead. 🙂
  20. I don't get any print newspapers but these are my go-to places for news: The Guardian BBC - actually I listen more- I like their "News of the World" program Christian Science Monitor - they have excellent in-depth articles NPR - although not regularly in a while but I do get their feed on my FB page so I'll click through to an article that interests me.
