  1. The amblesideonline.org web site has a great booklist for year 0. Also, the Sonlight catalog has some very good choices. :)
  2. IF we were switching to all textbooks, I would go with Rod & Staff. I love how the Bible is so integrated into the curriculum. I also like the simplicity of the texts with no distractions. It also seems very solid and covers all the bases. I actually bought their 1st grade curriculum to use with my oldest, but then I found this web site and well.......I've decided to go a different direction :D.
  3. I like it. It sounds very similar to mine for my DS with just a few differences: Right Start Math WWE Getty-Dubay Italics ETC OPGTR-Starting at His level Song School Latin Poetry-Harp & Laurel Wreath Science-Winterpromise Animals & their worlds and playing in the dirt! History-ancients Geography-Evan moore Beginning books Music-Harmony Fine Arts Art-Artistic Pursuits ETA: We won't be doing all of that every day or even every week:)
  4. Biblioplan is a reading schedule. WP has the reading schedule plus hands on activities for your dc to do. The one for you really depends on whether you like hands on or not. My dc are young and really love to do arts & crafts type activities. Next year we're going to use Biblioplan for our schedule and adding in the activities from WP Hideaways in History.
  5. Thanks for all the great info! I think this program just looks too good to miss for my dc. Thanks!
  6. My faves are my bookshelves and my whiteboard wall.:)
  7. Mine are: Heights Bridges - especially ones over water...YIKES Driving near water scares me to death!!! I have a major fear of my vehicle going into the water & having to get me, dh, & 6 children out...How would I do it? I keep one of those auto escape hammers handy at all times just in case.
  8. Well, I've not used either, but have been really studying each one, Bibilioplan & WP. I haven't looked at the middle ages one, but I really like the looks of WP. If your dc like the activities, then I would go with WP. Biblioplan looks like just a reading schedule. If you're going to purchase the WP IG anyway you would probably be better off just going with the WP Program. You could purchase the exclusives & pickup the rest used or from the library. I'm using Biblioplan this year, but the reason is that my dc are younger & WP doesn't have a history only program for ancients. Their history for younger dc goes through all 4 stages in 1 yr.
  9. I'd eat it....as long as it smelled ok & looked ok. Sounds Yummy:)
  10. Are the hideaways instructions in the IG? or are they in the other book? Thanks!
  11. I use Microfiber cloths I got from Sam's club. I got 25 for around $10.00. I use 1 color for cleaning & another color for stuffing cloth diapers(the pocket kind). They are very absorbent. I also use a squirt bottle filled with vinegar, water, tea tree oil, & orange oil. I use it for general cleaning. Here's a great site for making your own cleaning products: http://www.homesteadblogger.com/HSBFrontPorch/Homemade+Clean/ HTH!
  12. Thanks! I think I'm gonna go for it. I just have to sell a few things 1st.:) What about the On the spot book? Does anyone have it? thanks!
  13. I will be doing levels A & B. They are listed on the web site as required for level B. I just looked at them, & it does look like I could just use some square blocks.
  14. Does anyone know if there is a cheaper alternative to these? 24 one inch color cubes Thanks!
  15. Yes, I've done this and it was fairly fast. Paypal refunded my money. If it's getting close to the time frame allowed, I'd go ahead & file a claim. I think you've given plenty of time IMO. I'm not sure what the time limit is, but I think it's like 45 days or something like that, but if you wait until the limit is up you'll have no recourse.
  16. Thanks Jennifer! That's exactly what I'd like to do. I want to follow SOTW & the 4 yr history rotation, but add in some of the fun activities from Hideaways. I think I would still use Biblioplan & just add the fun stuff from HIH. I just wonder if it's worth the $$ to buy the IG or if the activities are in the add on books.
  17. I don't think you're being irrational at all. We once lost my oldest ds's blankie in Kentucky (hours away). We never got it back. It still makes me sad today thinking about it.
  18. I use this for dinner: menus4moms.com It gives you a menu for the week with shopping list & recipes. They also just started a low budget one. I haven't looked at it yet, but their regular menu is very good. We do Oatmeal, pancakes, or cold cereal for breakfast, and sandwiches or leftovers for lunch.
  19. Is anyone using this? I know it's new, but I was just wondering if anyone had any comments/pros/cons on it. I'm looking at using it for history only with my K & 1st grader. I wouldn't use any of the Bible, Science, or language. I'll use other things for those subjects. I already have SOTW, and I was planning to use biblioplan with it. However, I think my boys would really like the activities in HIH. Any advice? Thanks!
  20. My 4 & 5 yr old are reading, but not fluently yet. We are still working on it. I am about to start OPG with them, but I won't start from the beginning. I'll start after the short vowel sounds. I think it's lesson 41. Should I wait until they complete OPG to start FLL & WWE? Thanks!
  21. Are all 3 of these meant to be used together, or are all 3 overkill? Thanks!
  22. This happens here too frequently. Vinegar works great. Just rerun it & add a cup of plain white vinegar. I usually rerun the entire cycle, but I don't see why you couldn't just do a rinse cycle.
  23. I buy alot of my books from here. There's also the following: homeschoolclassifieds.com vegsource.com/homeschool homeschoolreviews.com (the swap meet) homeschoollibrary.com (book basket)
