You know, I've received stuff via media mail and sent stuff via media mail and never had packages be opened like that. I wonder if they used inadequate packing materials?

Rose, I'm glad I'm not the only one waiting. I wonder if their sorting facility there had some problems... was yours delayed the same day (15th)?
-
ok, I've emailed! Thanks all!

How fast did your BA economy shipping order arrive? (Awkward sentence, sorry!) Mine still says: Your Item's Status Your item has left our acceptance facility and is in transit to a sorting facility on March 15, 2012 at 5:31 pm in ALPINE, CA 91901 It has been 12 days with no update... ugh! Should I call or email? Kimberly

If you're between 30-50, do you color your hair?
mamakimberly replied to Tohru's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Mine's red. It has gotten a little blonder over the years but not a single grey/white hair. I'm 32. -

HSBC Referral code
mamakimberly replied to mamakimberly's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Anybody? -
When you join HSBC you are given the option to put in a referral code. My sister wants me to put her down but she doesn't know where to look in her account for her referral code. Does anyone know where you can find your referral code in your account info? Thanks!

Hi... I've been thinking about Beast Academy more. I ordered 3A/3B and plan to use it with both of my daughters. One is still working on Singapore 2B and one has just finished Singapore 3B, but I think it will benefit her to work through BA even though she's technically done with 3rd grade math. If we want to use Beast Academy long-term, I'm just not sure how we can make it work. They said on their FB page that they anticipate each set of books (a set being defined as a practice book and a guide book) taking a minimum of 4 months to be released. So that's a half-semester's worth of books each 4 months (or more). Those of you that are thinking about using BA as your main curriculum, what are you planning to do about this gap between books? This may very well keep us from using the program past these 2 books, because I don't want to be stuck waiting for new books. Bummer. I can continue Singapore books in between BA books, but that might be redundant.

Where are the best places to vacation in US?
mamakimberly replied to Amethyst's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Well, I live in Florida and there is a TON to do here- between Kennedy Space Center, Blue Spring State Park (swim with manatees), Disney, Universal, any number of beaches, airboat rides, nature preserve @ Merritt Island, SeaWorld, the Clearwater dolphin @ the hospital (from Dolphin Tale) and this is all just within an hour or so of Orlando... -
Do laser printers pay for themselves?
mamakimberly replied to Bang!Zoom!'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
what is up with the electrical tape trick? I just switched to a brother wifi laser bw printer/scanner combo (2280 is the model # I think). I love my duplex printing options on there! I've only been using it a few weeks, but I can't see myself going back to inkjet- drying out cartridges cost me a fortune! -
I saw in a thread that some people dislike the beasts in Beast Academy or dislike the idea of kids looking at beasts during math time. I don't understand. I mean, if you just think the beasts are ugly or something, that's fine. But what is wrong with looking at a beast? Please explain.

How much is gas in your area?
mamakimberly replied to MrsBear's topic in General Education Discussion Board
3.72 @ Costco. 3.79 @ 7-11. Crazy! -
Thanks! I'm very interested in hearing more opinions comparing the two. I'm nowhere near ordering curriculum for next fall yet, so I haven't taken the time to really read up on it yet.

I'm really thinking of switching to this from Singapore... we like Singapore, no doubt, but I get frustrated with the textbook/workbook shuffle. I know this also has a guidebook/textbook but the reviews in the textbook are what frustrates me with Singapore. Hmm. Does anyone know how the scope and sequence compare to Singapore?

Is there research on (TCK content)
mamakimberly replied to mommaduck's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Yeah, I worked with Mike Pollock (son of the author of the TCK book) in China. :) Good stuff there. -
We had a messy house when our kids were babies. It drove me nuts. My ADD can not handle mess and I don't function well in it at all. Now I keep our house in what I consider to be guests-in-10 condition- that is, if we had guests, it could be spotless in 10 minutes. Dishes are ALWAYS in the dishwasher or in the cabinets. Laundry is folded ASAP and put away. Floors are cleaned weekly (tile), rugs are vacuumed weekly. I just can't handle clutter. My desk is the one area where I get things a little piled up and before I work each day, I have to organize it and get it neat. My kids have a bad habit of bringing things in and leaving them on my desk. It isn't awful but just clutter. And I like to see my coffee mug, my laptop, and my wacom tablet and nothing else in my peripheral vision as I work!

It will be less expensive to pay a neighbor to take you to the ER or to pay for an ambulance than it would be to pay for the care of a very preterm NICU baby. I think you need to get yourself to an ER ASAP.

Best site for butterfly larvae?
mamakimberly replied to mamakimberly's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Thanks guys. We're renting our house and not really wanting to plant this year so probably won't go for a butterfly garden this year. We had a HUGE garden last year and then moved and just gave away tons of plants and it was sad... can't do that again!
