  1. We've only been homeschooling for a 1 1/2 years, but stuff that we're planning to repeat includes: SOTW Growing With Grammar (and adding in their spelling and writing) It took us awhile to find our groove with what works for us, but those will be repeated...
  2. My younger daughter does her regular math (was Singapore, just switched to MM) every day. She also does Reflex Math every day. We are also adding in Beast Academy at a slow pace on top of that. She needs the reinforcement in her math facts from Reflex Math and we can't give that up anytime soon. My older daughter is doing only MM & Beast Academy.
  3. I would really not want my daughters to attend there. If they chose to, I would love them and support them, but I do not believe it is an institution I want to be a part of. I'm a Christian, but I don't support their agenda. ETA: In thinking more, I don't know that I would even financially support my children if they attended there. It would be a really hard thing for me to even consider doing. Ugh. Hopefully I have raised them in such a way that they wouldn't even consider the school.
  4. I lived in China for 3 1/2 years and certainly didn't eat that *or* see that! Plenty of other stuff but not that!
  5. This song by Brooke Fraser & Aqualung: It is such a realistic look at the hard times in a marriage.
  6. ahhh, that makes a lot more sense. I was thinking crop top = http://www.thefashionpolice.net/2009/03/crop-tops-theyre-back-will-you-be-wearing-one.html
  7. Just got mine. It was in my gmail Spam.
  8. Just updating that the newly shipped package arrived. Damaged book corners but I don't care! At least we have the books now! Kimberly
  9. Crop tops? really? I'm surprised that made your list! What kind of crop tops do you mean???
  10. I love Jesus, but I don't need Jesus in my discussion of bones. "Jesus made your bones strong!" "Isn't it great how God put your body together?" I can Jesusify or de-Jesusify things if I need to, but if I'd extricated all of the Jesusification from Apologia, there wouldn't be much left. It drove me nuts. I lasted like 2 weeks with the anatomy book.
  11. Ok, mine was officially lost in shipping. New one coming via Priority.
  12. It isn't the 5th yet, but I might email them... Anyone else had luck getting a reshipment? I'm sure it is annoying for them, but also SUPER annoying for those of us who bought our $54 in books and have nothing...
  13. I'm not interested in my daughter learning Latin or Greek full-on, but I would like her to have a good understanding of greek & latin roots in the words she uses in daily life. I find it a useful skill and I'm glad I was taught it in school. I need recommendations for good programs that teach Latin & Greek roots without being "too much" if that makes sense. I don't want something that is 5 days a week, an hour a day. I want something she does maybe 2 times a week for 20 minutes. Thoughts? She's 9- would be in 4th grade this fall if we were at ps. Kimberly
  14. It isn't true for me! I think with bigger "girls" you really need the true cup size. Going up a band size just means it is going to slip and slide and I'll have more overflow issues.
  15. Bummer! I don't have mine yet, so I bet mine was in that batch!
  16. You can take them, but the percoset is far from the best med for a migraine. My personal cocktail of choice is phenergan and imitrex. And 4 months expired is no biggie!
  17. I think it depends on the kid. My 9yo would have hated it at 7 but my current-7yo would love it. We just moved and opted for teal/hot pink/aqua/black with white polkadots in one room (Target) and zebra w/assorted rainbow huge pillows all over her bed and a lime green fluffy rug in the other room. It does remind me of crib bedding... but I think it is cute!
  18. If you haven't seen this article floating around, it is a great read for encouraging teen girls to make good choices. http://kateelizabethconner.com/ten-things-i-want-to-tell-teenage-girls/ Um, ignore the comments on that blog- OY!
  19. I have such issues with Christmas card season because I can't stand all the ones with "Merry Christmas from the Miller's" and other such kitten-killing errors. I always tell my kids, "Do you see this? What does the Miller own? Because apparently he owns something!"
  20. I'm seriously thinking something is up. My mail is generally VERY FAST here. Even from across the US. I don't live in the boonies!
  21. Response from BA: Greetings, Unfortunately, media mail can sometimes take the full 2-4 weeks for delivery. If your books haven't arrived by April 5th, please let me know and I will research further. Thank you
