  1. We just started that this year and do just one card a day. We have a lot of fun with it.
  2. OUr son will be six in December and he is a whopping 34 pounds soaking wet! He is healthy and very active and eats a lot! I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. As long as he is healthy. Terry
  3. We just started English From The Roots UP two weeks ago and are having a blast! They each have an index three ring binder. I write the word in pen and each day we do a new word. They give it a green border or a red border depending on if it is Greek or Latin. Then I pick four words to go over. I write them on a small white board and they follow along trying to figure out the meaning. The rest of the words we all do together each on their own little white board. WE spend about a half hour a day and just cover one word each time. We are loving it! They ASK to do it! There are qute a few suggestions in the beginning of the book. Also, there is a recommended book Sniglets that will be fun to incorporate. Our main goal is to make sure it is fun while we do it! Terry
  4. What beautiful lapbooks! They are wonderful! Thanks for sharing them. I have been thinking on doing a lapbook and I think that may have been just the push I needed! Your cards are gorgeous! I love the pink one with the buttons. Terry
  5. I just looked up some reviews and was pleased by what I read. I think we may give Prima Latina a try! It seems somewhat affordable as well. Thanks so much for everyone's help!
  6. Well perhaps. I'm really very undecided. We love using English from the Roots up. I was thinking on perhaps a Rosetta Stone program with either Greek or Latin.
  7. We are using Writing Trails in Ameican History. When we finish I hope to start IEW.
  8. I hope all of us to gain a general knowledge of Latin. I'm not interested in the grammar. I would like it to be from a Biblical aspect. Most of all I would love for it to be fun. We are doing English fromt he roots up and are loving it and will continue to do so. This shows Latin and Greek in the words we use today. I would like to explore one of those languages as we do this. Terry
  9. Any recommendations for an easy Latin curriculum? I have no experience and would like to see if there is something to get a basic knowledge of Latin. I would be learning with my children. They are 5, 9, 13 and 17. Thanks, Terry
  10. I have not only have had it said to me, but a few years ago I foolishly said it to my sister in law. I believe that if you are not around homeschooling people you truly believe that it would be harder than it is. I also pray daily for patience. Some days are better than others. Today so far has been good!
  11. I would try to find room for it if you can, or a family member who may love to have it and have the room!
  12. I was thinking about watching Where The Red Fern Goes and decided to wait on it. Thanks for letting me know it is a tear jerker!
  13. I can tell you this. My kids that were public schooled for a few years love the fact that they are homeschooled. I thank God every day for convicting us on this!
  14. Oh, I hope you can cool off. It's no fun being hot, but being hot while your pregnant is really uncomfortable!
  15. I'm so sorry for your loss. I think it is a caring and loving person who mourns at the loss of an animal.
  16. Happy Anniversary! Enjoy yourself and good luck with the WW! Terry
  17. I have heard a lot of nice things about Rosetta Stone. I believe they have a sample on their website and you can hear the accent.
  18. I just keep my eyes open at Walmart and Staples. When I see a really good buy I might pick up a few of whatever is on sale. I did get a really good deal in August on copy paper.
  19. I can't help you with the alto clef. But the way I have my children remember the bass cleff is the five lines of the staff I make a sentence. For example, Good Boys Deserve Fudge Always. The treble clef is Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge. I know these sound strange but it has helped my girls and myself to learn them. The spaces on the treble clef spell FACE and the spaces on the Bass clef, I use another sentence. All Children Eat Grapes. Not sure if this will help you or anyone else, but it is working for us! LOL
  20. Jessica, I actually have both of those. I am actually needing information that lead up to the war (cause/effect). The children that are doing it are 8 and 13. I also have a five year old that would listen in, but I want geered more to the older ones. I would like something that would include lots of facts. Thanks again! Terrylee
  21. We are studying the Revolutionay war and the cause and effects of this. Does anyone know of a good book, as a read aloud that would cover the French and Indian War , the Proclamation of 1763 and the events leading up to the Revolutionary war? Thanks, Terrylee
  22. Thanks so much! I appreciate everyones help! I think I will check out that yahoo group. Thanks again! terrylee
  23. Our daughter is doing R & S grade3 she loves it and so do I! This is our first year homeschooling and she was a bit behind but now has zoomed! Our 13 year old dd just finished R & S 8 and is now doing Lial's Introductory algebra and is doing very well also. I plan on using R & S next year for our ds who will be in first grade. I don't assign all the problems. I do all the speed tests and quizzes. When we do a Lesson a lot of times I can combine two lessons into one. It has great review throughout. Don't feel like you have to do all of the problems, just judge by what your dd can do. Hope this helps! Terrylee
