  1. I agree! I've done it a couple of times, and I'll be doing it in 6 weeks. ~Cari
  2. I loved it!!! My favorite part was when Nevel said "You and what army." He's my favorite character. I however haven't read the books, I didn't want to ruin the movies by reading the books first. ;) I am a bit sad now that it's over, no more to look forward to. ~Cari
  3. I wanted a tattoo my entire life. My mom, who has 3 of her own, gave me this advice. Don't get one until you look at something and think "THAT'S IT!" It took me 3 years to find something that hit me like that. I have a drawing of the Cheshire Cat on a branch, like the original illustration. It's just below my waist line on the right side of my back. I won't bore you with why, but it has a lot of meaning to me on different levels. Let us know what you end up with. ~Cari ps, I got mine over 10 years ago and have finally decided on the next one.
  4. :grouphug: and prayers. Both my kids did this, but to the left. The pushing urge got so bad with my second, when I was 6 cm, that I just started to push and that got him in the right direction. I went from 6cm to crowning in the time it took me to get off the medicine ball and onto the bed. So sometime they do find a way without outside intervention. Hope all goes well for you. ~Cari
  5. :iagree: Too many don't want to make waves and that tells predators to continue what they are doing, because no one is going to stop them. I know as a victim it's hard to be the one to speak up, but you will feel much better if you do. ~Cari
  6. I feel for you. I've had the same issue since I was a kid. I've got a number of food allergies. My biggest gripe is when someone has homemade baked goods and won't tell you what is in the **** muffin because they "just want you to try it, and are sure you will like it." When I was a teenager I was not so nice in the way I dealt with it. I used to explain in detail how they could save me from dying by slicing my throat and stabbing a tube into my airway. That was before I had an epipen. As far as eating out, if you know where you are going ahead of time you can see if they list their menu and ingredients online. A lot of the bigger chain places do, or at least they will list the big allergens. :grouphug: ~Cari
  7. Just bought our tickets!!! Dh has the day off tomorrow, part one of our anniversary. So glad they scheduled it like that for us ;) ~Cari
  8. I should have probably asked this before I voted. Do dress up clothes count as getting dressed? I voted let stay in pjs, since I'm not strict about it. Our problem isn't so much staying in pjs all day, it's getting them to stay in ANY clothes while at home. ~Cari
  9. Before my son was proficient at blowing his nose, he would on occasion vomit after a bad allergy attack. ~Cari
  10. I'm learning so much from you ladies. Thanks for the laughs, off to read the tea post. ~Cari ETA: Just came across this rabbit ref. in the TEA post. Careful with this link.
  11. Thanks for the insight ladies. My dad and dh do get along well. The two of them lived together last time we moved. We had a month between homes and my dad lives very close to dh's job. At that time the kids and I stayed at my mom's. We are trying to stay together this time for a couple of reasons. One, my mom is over two hours away and only seeing dh on the weekends for a year will be much harder then a month. Not to mention the money on gas we would spend for him to drive up to see us every weekend. I totally think the kids could share a room, but I have a feeling my dad is not thrilled with the idea. Something else I'll have to bring up. Along with chores. I don't want my dad to freak out when his house is actually clean. ;) ~Cari
  12. Long story short dh and I have decided to move in with my dad for financial reasons. The house is smaller then where we are now and our kids are 6/male and 9/female so sharing a room is kind of out, but it will only be for 6-12 months. (Altho, my dad claims that in a few years when he retires he's moving in with us, lol! We will see after this experiment.) Any one have any words of wisdom before we pack up? Or maybe just want to talk about your experience? I'm really trying to focus on the positives here: learning to live with less stuff, eventually buying a home of our own, kids having a close relationship with their grandfather. . .any others? ~Cari
  13. Hello everyone, I guess I should start with a bit of background. My dd (9) did ps for K and 6 mo of 1st grade in which she was taught math with the Everyday Math curriculum. That math alone is enough to pull child out of a school. And it made my dd not only hate math, but it made her feel she couldn't do math. When I brought her home I tried a few things, including eventually MUS. She just wasn't getting it. So I decided to back off for a bit, and for three years did very little formal math. We are now doing MUS regularly, Alpha, and things are going great. She's picking up concepts quickly. My concern is not that she can't do math. I actually think she is completely capable of math a typical 3rd-4th grader would be doing. (It just took her brain a little longer to get ready to learn math.) I'd like to get her closer to doing that math but I'm unsure how. I love MUS. It's the best of both worlds; understanding how math works and memorization. I want to keep using it. I'm wondering if it's possible to accelerate things, and how. If I should maybe supplement with another program. Any thoughts? Thank you so much, Cari
  14. I would like to hear some answers to this as well. I will be camping with my two kids in Sept, and would like to have some stuff to eat besides hotdogs and burgers. Last year I did buy the individual things of tuna that came with mayo and crackers. But that can get pricey. We also had some individual ravioli cans, but we had access to a microwave. I also baked a bunch of muffins and oatmeal cookies ahead of time. And of course we had lots of fresh fruit and veggies that I cut up ahead of time. If you are going for more then a week, I would plan on shopping as you go. Oh, my mom used to take a big ziplock bag and fill it with fill it with eggs and milk, and whatever else we wanted like cheese, then mixed it all up (like scrambled eggs). She would toss the bag, sealed of course, in a pot of boiling water on the fire. I remember that being pretty good. Cari
  15. :iagree: This is exactly how I am. I have reactive hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and when it gets low I can get a nauseous feeling in my throat, but my tummy is fine. ~Cari
  16. Amazon for most stuff, and in the past I've found good deals on ebay. But I like workbooks to be new I also buy from peacehillpress, and mathusee. ~Cari
  17. First I'm sorry that stinks. I'm allergic to latex so I understand your pain. Are you sure it is all feminine napkins? Maybe it is an added sent, or ingredient particular to that brand. I would consult with your GYN either way. I know that there are cloth napkins, usually sold by the same companies that sell cloth diapers. I know others with similar issues that use them and swear by them. Good luck to you, Cari
  18. I'm wondering if there is an inexpensive curriculum that combines art history with learning the corresponding techniques/medium the artists used? Thank you! Cari DD (9)FLL 3, SotW, MUS, Sequential Spelling, Cursive DS (6)FLL 1, SotW, MUS, Printing ws
