Last year at school she had an opportunity to volunteer at some kind of services fair for Spanish speaking immigrants. She gave her contact info out to anyone who would take it, but nothing really came of it. She enjoyed doing the work though and is trying to figure out how to use the skills she is/has acquiring/acquired into her dream life 😆 we are super proud of her, she is one of our aspies and she is definitely a go getter. I wish she felt comfortable learning to drive.

So dd21 is a certified paralegal who worked for 9 months in a law office before deciding to go back to college full time last year. She left on good terms. She has decided to go only two days a week next year and live at home, but knows she does NOT want to continue working her summer job into the fall. Would it be a good idea or dumb idea to send a cover letter and resume to the lawyers in our vicinity? She could only work part time, but that might be a plus for a small town lawyer maybe? The one she worked for before was only part time, 20 hours a week. It would be unsolicited, so would they even read it? She would really like going back into a law office. She is double majoring in Japanese and Spanish, has an associate in business management and her paralegal certification. Plus a little bit of experience

My bff was in this spot not too long ago. Her mother’s bad health was getting the better of her and she leaned heavily on bff. Repeatedly falling, needing bff to do things for her, house turned into a hoarding situation, and expected bff to jump anytime she called, and she’s not particularly nice to bff. One time she fell and bff was at a school thing with her children and didn’t want to leave so told her mother to call 911. Oh the dramatics and guilt that ensued. The situation had reached the point of being ridiculous and she had gotten so heavy it was hard for bff to even get her up anyway. Bff decided that day to not help her when she fell telling her to call 911. A few times of that and her mother became much more open to the situation she lives in now. But the guilt heaped on bff is never ending. Im sorry you are in this darned if you do darned if you don’t place. Would she wear one of those life alert things?

My whine, dh is still having problems with his eyes. He has to go back to the doctor 1.5 hours away every two weeks for check up and to get a shot in his eye. After much discussion with his boss and search for accommodations, he went back to work this morning. His job is 45 minutes one way. So I will be driving 3 hours a day just taking him back and forth to work. Im grateful he is trying to go back and if it works out it will be great, but 3 hours a day just driving him. In addition, dd21 who doesn’t drive is working 6 days a week at the grocery store in town and her shift starts at 2pm every day. I’m now working 4 days a week so there is a scramble to get her there as fil is in hay now and not free to drive her. Dd19 comes back from mission trip some time this week but was not clear on how she was going to get home from Columbus or even which day she is coming back. She does drive so hopefully that will help, but she’ll be working too. I feel like an air traffic controller and we have had to call on others to help with transportation. I hate to keep asking people over and over to drive the kids around but don’t have any other way.

As a side observation, I have attended many of my kids events in our small town theater. It has seats that fold up when you stand up. Over the many many many things we’ve attended there over the last 18 years, I noticed that 90% of the time if you have to pass a bunch of people to get to a middle seat, men will usually stand up to let you pass and women will turn their knees.

Nvm. Agree that some parents aren’t adequately prepared for foreign adoptions and agree that there are not good resources for families that find themselves

I would let it go, he’s probably excited about the idea and he might feel like you are raining on his parade even if you are trying to be helpful. You can always go to a jeweler and get a different band. How do you know he’s looking for watches?

Finally home. Surgeon said he accomplished what he wanted. It was resident retina-bro with an attending, which was the last person he wanted, but he didn’t know til he woke up. Will learn more tomorrow when they take the bandages off and look. Thank you so much for being my friends and all the support, I don’t really have anyone here to vent to or lean on. Went for two week surgery follow up and now needs to have surgery again tomorrow. Retina has detached again. This is his third surgery since February
