  1. Hi all! We have a mixture of blue and purple Tupperware microwave plastic plates that are all scratched up from years of use. We have all boys, and I was hoping to find something similar but not in a "girly" color (I'm partial to blue as well.) I found the purple ones on Amazon (kind of pricey), but was hoping someone might have some good recommendations for other similar ones in less feminine colors. Thanks! Angela
  2. Frozen grapes are probably my DS#1's favorite snack of all time.
  3. Can you tell me which one this is? Our library has several dvds by the same name. Thanks, Angela
  4. I emailed my state rep. I mentioned that I currently homeschool our two boys (7th & 5th grades) and explained that I had seem homeschoolers successfully use the product (Thank you, Luckymama!). I said that I was interested in their curriculum and would appreciate any feedback or recommendations they could provide. They offered to send me the cd and it has been a blessing.
  5. Same here - about the leadership. It really is a different dynamic when you have godly men in charge. I'm saying good, godly men (not bullies or "know it alls") and the fact that they're men rather than female leaders has been a big difference (in a good way) for us. We have about 35-40 in our troop and it is an excellent size. Not too large where the boys might get lost in the crowd, and not too small where there might be lack of opportunity. Just perfect! ETA: Female leaders are encouraged to serve on Committee, as merit badge counselors, or in coordinating events - so it isn't like we're shunned. Just wanted to make that clear as well. Blessings, Angela
  6. My little sweetie niece just turned 3 last month and I have no idea what to get her for her birthday. SIL really doesn't have any ideas either. I have two boys and they are both 10&12, so a girl age 3 is completely out of my range of experience without help. Any ideas would be welcome, and links would be even better. ETA: My budget is about $25. Thanks! Blessings, Angela
  7. I'm about half way through this book and I believe it is going to be very helpful. Thank you so much for the recommendation! Blessings, Angela
  8. While being a Bear den leader in itself might not take much time - you are then, in a way - also signing up to being the Webelos den leader for the following two years, which does require a lot of time, in my opinion. Just something to consider. ETA: I know the grammar on that sentence is horrid, please just look past it. :0) Blessings, Angela
  9. Have you been reading my emails? This is exactly the problem I've been having with my boys (trying to negotiate lessons mostly) - and had sent a venting email to DH last week. My library has it available and I just put it on request. Thanks so much for the recommendation! Blessings, Angela
  10. We go through the textbook sections orally and then do the section questions all together orally as well. The S&P and Investigations are the only written work we're really doing. I agree, that we are not focusing on the reading comprehension in terms of writing (we do IEW), but they read it (either all of us together, or they read it separately) and then we can discuss the questions if I feel the need. We're still new to CPO (just finishing chapter 2 of Earth Science), but I've done all my planning for the full Earth Science book and am really excited! Looking back on the past two weeks, my 7th grader has spent between 45-75 minutes each time we do it, but that includes practicing the Quizlet Vocab I've created for the current unit. Here is an example: http://quizlet.com/6025200/cpo-earth-science-unit-1-flash-cards/ I think they enjoy that and I've found quizlet to be amazingly helpful across the board. We use it for Latin, Science, Drawing terms, and IEW U.S. History I Vocab. Blessings, Angela
  11. This is what I've done. My boys are older (5th & 7th), so we do quite a few of the S&P sheets - I've found them valuable and well worth the time it takes. My 5th grader doesn't always do the entire sheet - I read over it with him and we discuss the practice and example, my 7th grader usually does most of the problems for the S&Ps I select. Blessings, Angela
  12. I'm so sorry-I remember your first posts. So sorry it ended this way, but I am thankful that you and your DH were unified in how to handle it. Blessings, Angela
  13. Sorry - I had gone to bed. This is exactly what they did in the ER. At first I had thought it was gas pains, so I had waited too long and could not get fluids in on my own. I had gotten so bad that my hands were curved into claws because I had been hyperventilating from the constant torturous pain. Totally freaked my kids out as I was screaming out in pain (at home, in the car, in the ER) - crazy! Once they gave me an IV and pain meds it was a totally different world. They sent me home with large dose ibuprofen and another med (I didn't end up needing to take it) and I passed the stone in the night. I was completely normal the next day. Now I know that if the pain comes on again I need to load up on Ibuprofen and drink LOTS of fluids! But, at that time I didn't have any idea what it was. I hesitated to suggest that for your son in case it wasn't a stone and he needed to go to the ER. How is he doing this morning? Blessings, Angela
  14. Sounds like the pain I had with a Kidney stone, and it came on all of a sudden. Poor kid! It was worse than childbirth for me because there was no break in the pain.
  15. We do IEW for writing, so we don't do the R&S writing assignments but I do have the boys read the material from the lessons in R&S. Particularly because that material sometimes shows up in R&S reviews, quizzes, and tests. Blessing, Angela
  16. Thanks! I just ordered the Complete A Sketch 123 cd for only $33.50 shipped! I think this will be great for my boys, as we can print it off when we're ready to do each lesson, and that way even DH & I can get in on the fun! Blessings, Angela
