  1. I bought a book last night using the Kindle app on my phone. I assumed it would also show up on my regular Kindle, but I just realized that nothing I've purchased using my phone is on the Kindle. I used "Sync and Check for Items" but it isn't showing up. How do I get it on the actual Kindle? Thanks.
  2. This just makes me so angry for you. I know you can't sue your employer, but I think you can sue the person that did this to you. Have you had any luck trying that?
  3. I used to get these all the time. It's probably a nickel allergy. Many people are allergic to nickel, and nickel is frequently used in earrings. To treat, keep it clean and only use nickel free earrings (like sterling silver). You can try a little OTC hydrocortisone ointment or benadryl ointment.
  4. I LOVE my Samsung Fascinate. I've never used an iPhone, so can't compare, but the Fascinate is great. I was a little frustrated for the first few days, but I'm a pro now.
  5. My dd could spend hours playing in bubbles at the sink. She loved to wash dishes and make a mess. It was much more fun when I quit worrying about the mess and let her do what she wanted with the bubbles. It was an easy clean up and was one of the only things that really kept her occupied.
  6. I do a fair amount of texting and I've only seen a very few of those. Of course, those aren't phrases that I would use anyway, even if spelled out.
  7. :iagree: Half of my texts are between my 16 year old new driver and me.
  8. :iagree: For some reason, ice cream is a big motivator here.
  9. Me too. Except I don't capitalize names when I'm talking to my kids. It would take twice as long and they know it's only acceptable while texting.
  10. Turned out there was only enough for the top anyway. Thanks everyone. It was delicious.
  11. I've never made fish this way before. Would you put the crust on both sides of the fish, or just the top? Ingredients: 6 Halibut Steaks -- 1 inch thick Salt And Pepper -- To Taste 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs 2 Cloves garlic -- minced 1/4 cup olive oil 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme -- crumbled Lemon wedges Directions: Place steaks in an oiled shallow baking pan. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Combine bread crumbs, garlic, oil, cheese and thyme to a thick paste and pat onto surface of steaks. Bake in a preheated 450F degree oven for 14 minutes per inch of thickness of fish or until fish is no longer translucent and flakes when tested with a fork. Garnish with lemon wedges and serve.
  12. Texting is easy, convenient, and quick. It's great for arranging transportation, notifying people of changes in plans, or giving quick reminders. Unfortunately, it *can* be abused, and I have one dd who has had some difficulties. We had to put some major restrictions on, and used parental controls for a couple years. She has straightened herself out, and now uses it responsibly and without problems. She is on a dance team and gets frequent texts from her coach about changes in practice times, updates on what to bring or wear, etc. It would be a real problem for her if she didn't have it. It wouldn't be impossible, but it would be a real pain.
  13. :blushing: The A is right next to the S! Really, I knew that.
  14. Do you have a regular dentist that knows about your RAD? They can do an initial evaluation, get you started on an antibiotic, and get you to the appropriate specialist probably more quickly than you can. I'd go that route. :grouphug:
  15. Aren't you in Iowa somewhere? If you're near Cedar Rapids, I can recommend the people that did ours. I think he travels all over eastern Iowa. I can post or send you pictures of the work we had done.
  16. We just did this last year. My kitchen, dining room and entryway were all oak, and the rest of the downstairs was carpet. We had a local company do the work, and they were able to match the oak almost exactly. He was able to tell by looking at the existing floor where it came from, and he ordered the new oak from the same factory (or lumberyard, or something). They then "laced in" the new wood so there was no demarcation between rooms. I originally wanted to replace the carpet with bamboo, but I was the only one that thought it was a good idea. :glare: I'm glad they talked me into matching it up. It looks really nice.
  17. Please go get tested for pertussis (whooping cough). We are having an outbreak here, and two of my kids were diagnosed with it last week. :tongue_smilie:
  18. Gao Meixue, I don't know if you saw my previous post, but in case you didn't, I wanted to encourage you to go get tested for whooping cough (pertussis). We are having an outbreak and 2 of my kids have it. A cough that doesn't go away, especially with shortness of breath, is very suspicious for pertussis.
  19. Galileoscope is the only inexpensive telescope that is worthwhile. Otherwise, I'd get a pair of binoculars.
