One of my dogs loves only a certain brand of socks that I have. It doesn't matter if it's clean or dirty. After he picks it up, he puts it on the floor and then puts his chin on it and then looks up at me. It's so cute!

Wow! I've heard that worm castings are the best fertilizer. How long does it take to get the compost?

For those of you that garden...
Nature replied to TKDmom's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I did my first square foot garden this year and it was so much easier than a traditional garden. It is 8 X 4 ft. The most time-consuming aspect was mixing the soil (vermiculite, peat moss and finished compost). I love the raised beds! I get a few weeds, but not many. Since you don’t walk on the soil, it’s really loose, so the weeds come up very easily. I probably spend less than a ½ hour per week on it. I do get some bugs that eat the leaves, but overall. It’s not too bad. -
Technically, there is no limit on how many goals to put on an IEP. They should all relate to the identified needs in their present level of performance. You could have your main four goals and several objectives (or sub-goals) related to the main goal listed below.

We use graph paper all the time. It really them to line up the numbers. I even enlarged some graph paper so that it's easier to write the numbers (for those who like to write bigger).

Yes I did tick the 'remember me' box. It seems to happen somewhat sporadically. After I sign in, I'll be reading the forum (so not inactive) and then if I try to post or search, I get that message.

I was looking at my statistics page and although it says I have 11 posts, I know I’ve posted at least double that amount. When I look at all my posts, there are at least triple that. Just wondering why this isn’t accurate. Can anyone explain this to me?

I keep getting the message: Your submission could not be processed because the token has expired. What does this mean?

I don’t believe in spanking. Logical and natural consequences (which could be withholding privileges), positive discipline and time-outs are what I have used. Two great books are: Positive Discipline by Jane Nelsen and The Explosive Child by Ross Greene.

I love the Sony Cyber shot. It's small enough to easily carry anywhere, and it takes great pictures. -
Poll: Homeschooling Conferences
Nature replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
I would be interested, but because of traveling, I probably couldn't make it. -
I wish my dog would know she's the lowest creature in the pecking order. Many times, especially when sleeping, she thinks she's at the top. If I try to move her a little, she lets me know that she doesn't like to be disturbed.

Tell me where your dog sleeps. I have a small dog that curls up to me every night. When I’m away from home, I have difficulty falling asleep without her. I mentioned this to someone who thought it was quite odd that I'd let a dog in my bed.

Times have sure changed. When I was a teen in the late 70's/early 80's, the going rate was 50 cents an hour no matter how many kids they had!!

Vent: Humane Society made me sooooo mad!
Nature replied to 2squared's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I also agree. Dogs are social animals and need their ‘pack,’ which is their human family. Some people own dogs, but don’t get as attached to me. I do know people who have outside dogs, but I wouldn’t want that. I love my dogs and like having them with me in my house. -
Anyone eat Activia or DanActive??
Nature replied to mammaruss's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I used to love the taste of activia, but now since they have this "new great flavor," I can't stand it. Reminds me of when Coke changes their recipe to taste more like Pepsi. -

I really like Writesource. http://www.thewritesource.com/ They have a large variety of books for different ages. Kids seem to like them because they're easy to understand and have great graphics.- 21 replies

Has anyone ever used “Framing your Thoughts†curriculum for a struggling writer? It is part of Project Read by Learning Circle. If so, I’d love to hear about your experience.

Medical Question - Need Advice for Tonight
Nature replied to knit247's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I agree. That sounds horrible! I would definitely call the hospital or dr. on call. Maybe put some pressure on it (if it's not too painful) to try to stop the bleeding? -
Book a Week in 2010 - Week 33
Nature replied to Robin M's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I’m curious. How much time do each of you spend reading each day? I love to read, but don’t think I could find the time to read one book per week. -

Tell me why we shouldn't buy a house...
Nature replied to Aubrey's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Go for it! There are many advantages of being a homeowner. For that price, buy two!! Just kidding. I've seen some townhomes go for about 20% of what they were purchased for.
