  1. Thanks - I was wondering about the program,too...
  2. That's quite a burden for her to dump on you! A big part of me wants to say "just ignore her email" --so you don't get more tangled up in her family situation. It sounds exhausting, and you don't need the extra stress in your life of dealing with a "needy" , drama-loving person right now. It does seem as though she wants your approval of her situation, her boyfriend, her child's school arrangement, etc. Ugh. I look forward to reading other's suggestions... I'm taking a "let's see what the hive consensus is" approach to this one. :001_smile:
  3. I had never heard of this, so I googled it: http://www.uwhealth.org/patient-guides/uw-hospital/safe-patient-identification-system/29202 I don't know what to say!
  4. I hate them all - no matter if it's for a Democrat or Republican. They are almost always recordings, and I hang up immediately. We've had calls as late as 10 PM last week.
  5. I hope so! My son took the ACT in Feb 2010 in 11th grade, and re-took it last Saturday to see if he could bump his score up higher, to qualify for more scholarship money .....I told him he could take the ACT a third time if necessary. He's doing all the studying! :001_smile:
  6. here's my kids doing what they love best -- my son is a soccer goalie, and my daughter was in a children's theatre performance of Robin Hood! (she's the girl on the right)
  7. I'm so sorry! I would be honored to pray for your friend. :grouphug:
  8. Here's my favorite wedding picture from .... eek! 26 years ago.... I will send an up to date one tomorrow. For now, you have to keep guessing! :001_smile:
  9. Many hugs and prayers for you today..:grouphug: My mom had IDC 15 years ago. She had a lumpectomy, 5 weeks of radiation and 5 years of Tamoxifen. She's completely fine! An active, busy, thriving wife, mom and grandma. My husband's aunt had IDC 2 years ago. She had a mastectomy, chemo and plastic surgery, and now shows off her newly rebuilt breasts, and is completely fine. Clean bill of health. Thank you for letting us know the diagnosis. You will be in my prayers this week.
  10. Gilligan's Island Flintstones Star Trek (the original) Little House on the Prarie MASH We had a black and white TV until I came home from college one year and - ta da! My parents' TV finally broke, and they bought a color TV. It's been fun re-watching all my childhood shows in color :001_smile:
  11. :grouphug::grouphug: and prayers ... let us know as soon as you can the results of the biopsy
  12. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: looking forward to a good report!
  13. Any year my kids take the Stanford Achievement test, we ALWAYS buy a test prep book (I think from McGraw Hill) and practice for the 2 weeks leading up to the test. My kids have always thanked me - some need more work in math, some need more work in grammar, etc. However, if I were giving them the actual test, I would not practice anything out of the test booklet b/c that would be unethical. I have to sign a document and send it to the issuing company (BJUP) stating that I will not divulge any of the questions to a student ....
  14. I am loving homeschooling my 2 kids through high school! While their subjects get "harder", they are actually easier to teach, b/c by now my children want to work as independently as possible, so I picked curriculum that allowed them to do just that. I love the fact that my kids are still sleeping peacefully at 7:30 AM Monday through Friday, when most of their peers have already arrived at school. I love the fact that we can stop what we're doing in the middle of a school day and have an in-depth conversation about college choices, or ACT prep, or "what did you think about the XYZ situation on the news last night?", or "my friend XYZ is having trouble with ABC, how can I help?" I especially love the fact that next year, when my son is in college, he and I can look back on his school years with fun memories of learning together, field trips, reading out loud, doing school in our pajamas, etc. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Take it one day at a time, one year at a time, and don't let well meaning friends or family dissuade you from something that you love doing with, and for, your family.
  15. It's an adorable show! My 2 teenagery children and I watch it together - usually huddled around the computer screen, laughing our heads off. : I'd scoop Brick up and take him home with me in a skinny minute. :001_smile:
  16. We used the same practice book as described above ... my son practiced every single test in every single subject, and scored between 28 and 33 in the practice book, but on the actual ACT in Feb. he scored between 21 and 27. My son said the difficulty of the questions were very similar on both the practice book and the actual test, EXCEPT for math. He felt the actual math questions on the ACT test were harder. (He was very nervous during the actual test day, and we are studying again to take the ACT Oct 23.)
  17. She's absolutely precious! Love the picture! You have great taste!
  18. I wish there was some sort of student-led guide, activity sheet series, etc. to pair with SWB's History of the Ancient World. I actually emailed SWB over the summer and asked if there was! Her publisher kindly emailed me back and said they were not aware of anyone developing a guide to go along with her book....rats. I am using that book as the "spine" for our Winter Promise Quest for the Ancient World series this year. The Mystery of History book was too babyish for my 14 yo. She begged for something meatier.... we looked at History of the Ancient World on Amazon and she thought she could handle it... so far, so good!
  19. We have them here in the States at Walmart .... My favorites were the wax lips and baby bottles :D
