  1. Once a month or every few months. We do our best, pick up where we are, and get as much out in the time we have. No hard feelings.
  2. I don't usually forget. These days everything immediately goes into the calendar on my phone. But yes, it's part of our culture. I send out a confirmation text whenever I'm getting together with people. It's necessary.
  3. I am wondering what home schooling resources are available in the area?? Thanks!
  4. We were only in the 75% range today, but it was so cool that I reality want to be in the path of totality next time around. Who knows where we'll be in 7 years or what life will be like, but I will try to get there.
  5. I was looking at this site last night and could not decide if it was really great info, or if they were capitalizing on people (like me) who are desperate for info. Do you pay the $20 monthly fee? And if so, do you feel that it is worth it?
  6. We officially have a diagnosis. It has been a very difficult week. If you have traveled this road, were there certain resources that were very helpful or encouraging when you first got the diagnosis? I have already read Aspergirls. Thanks!
  7. What is your go-to for social videos? I have googled and I have yet to find anything that would even be helpful. The ones I have found are in a computerized voice without expression.
  8. This will be my first year actually teaching history, but I'm excited about it. The kids will do the reading at home. We will have class discussion about what they read. It's a middle school class so I plan to have them work on note taking/ outlining during class time too. We are also incorporating one period fiction book per semester. That is the plan anyway.
  9. Have you looked at Notgrass? I'm using their middle school US history for a co-op class.
  10. I haven't read the whole thread, but I started taking something called candida support for a crazy rash that kept popping up, and it seems to be helping. The theory is that every yeast related issue stems from an overgrowth of candida in your gut.
  11. Unless it's hate rhetoric, I just agree to disagree. A person is more than the sum total of their political posts on FB. While I'm not interested in anyone trying to force their opinions on me, I do want to have people in my life who see and experience the world differently than I do.
  12. Can you ask the parents? Something with her name & date on it - like an embroidered blanket - would be special.
  13. Hi Keri! I resonate with so much of what you shared. I'm INFJ. I am learning (trying to learn) that there are going to be people who don't like me no matter what I do or don't do. Ultimately, I have to seek the Lord and follow His direction. The way I laugh or do not laugh at a joke is part of who I am, and other people don't get to dictate that. We live in the constant tension of trying not to be too busy but also investing in the lives of others. Our weeks lately have been extremely full. But, my husband has learned that I need to have the freedom to draw necessary boundaries. I opted out of something at church last night because I have to be there Saturday for a conference. But I'm still working on healthy limitations! ((Hugs))
  14. Thanks Keri! I ended up getting their Survey of Science History & Concepts.
  15. My son will be starting 9th grade, and while we are outsourcing most of his classes, he was not able to get into the science class. He is not a real sciencie kid, so I would be ok with pushing biology until next year. Does anyone have any recommendations for a 9th grade science that would not be too difficult to do at home? Thanks
  16. New England to see family and spend time at the ocean. We spent a week on the Cape (Cape Cod, MA) last August and it was wonderful!
  17. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I decided to go with Writing with Skill 1 & Daily Grams.
  18. Yes, this. Only I would probably go further and take away every screen for a period of time. And then maybe allow an opportunity to earn screen time with physical activity.
  19. I dragged my son through 600. We quit about half way through 700. My rising 6th grader could probably handle 600 with less misery, but I think it's time to move on.
  20. I was planning to use CLE through grade 6 with my 11 year old, and then considered that perhaps we should switch now before the never ending workbook pages slowly rip away the joy of my life. I love CLE for the younger grades, but the older grades make me want to pull my eyeballs out. Anyway, what's everyone using for grade 6 these days? Thanks!
  21. I have been to dance recitals before where certain numbers were extremely provocative, so I understand where you are coming from. The dance moms I've talked to have said that you have to specifically look for a studio that leans on the modest side of that is what you prefer.
