  1. You know, I never even thought to read the comments! :001_huh: Thanks for pointing that out to me.:) The reason I came here to ask is because it's here I learned about Tim Hawkins in the first place, so I figured someone would know the answer. (One of the many great things we've discovered as a result of these boards!):D Thanks again!
  2. My ds has recently decided that Tim Hawkins' is his favorite song (yes, I know -- this is not one of my prouder mommy moments). He is curious as to what song it's a parody of. I have no idea. Do you? I thank you. My son thanks you. My whole family thanks you.:001_smile: (Just tossing this out for your consideration . . . my son is actually a very nice boy who would never even dream of doing the things mentioned in this song. I promise!);)
  3. I'd say I only actually hit Submit about 1/5 of the time. I'm really bad about changing my mind at the last second and deleting the whole thing.
  4. We have this (bought it after reading the rave reviews posted here, actually!), and my kids (7, 12, and 15) really enjoy it.
  5. If I remember correctly, it looks like this: <s>typeyourtexthere</s> I couldn't figure out how to do it for a long time, and it just killed me. I was so glad to finally learn!:)
  6. I've never seen one, either. (It's nice to know I'm not alone.);)
  7. Chiming in late, but agreeing that it sounds exactly like a migraine. I have come to see the auras as a good thing. When my vision starts to go, I know I've got about half an hour before the pain starts. I tell dh (or oldest dd, now that she's old enough) that I will be out of commission for a while, I take some Excedrin Migraine (or the Wal-Mart version), and I retreat to my bedroom (with a pillow over my head if it's daytime). If I can do that immediately, I can usually stop a migraine in its tracks and can get up and continue my day once the aura leaves (in about 45 minutes or so) -- but if I can't (if I'm out in public when the aura starts, for example), then I'm in for a completely miserable time.
  8. Thank you for sharing your story. I am less than two weeks away from my own deceased daughter's 9th birthday and have already moved into my "annual late September period of reflection", so to speak, so Katherine's story struck close to home. I know how bittersweet the birthdays are. Your daughter was absolutely gorgeous, and I am struck by the love and the pride which are evident on every face, in every picture. Thank you for sharing her life with us.:grouphug:
  9. It's only been 6 years here and I wish I didn't have to quote this poster . . . but the same is true for my dh.
  10. My just-turned-12 ds is really into origami, illusions, balloon twisting, unicycling, and juggling. The balloon twisting has turned into a real moneymaker for him. He takes balloons with him wherever he goes and passes them out, and quite often people tip him for his creations. He has been approached by the managers of two fast food restaurants to come and make balloons in the restaurants for tips, and he has been asked quite a bit lately if he does birthday parties. (Just last week, he ordered business cards from vistaprint.com, and he hopes to start scheduling children's parties before too much longer.) He's only been doing balloons for a month -- they are easy to learn and even the relatively simple ones are impressive. Not the manliest hobby, I'll admit, but he is the envy of all his (moneyless) friends, and he draws a crowd wherever he goes.;)
  11. I thought I was out for the day, but I wasn't -- I just gave you some -- are you there yet?:001_smile:
  12. I did (about not really being able to afford to buy something, but not being able to afford not to buy something, either . . . and buying it) -- but my blog's private, so you have to PM me with your e-mail address if you want to read it! (I'm sorry -- I know it's a pain.)
  13. Aww, man! I went to church and missed a rep party!:glare: I think I'm out for the day, anyway, but giving rep is one of my favorite things to do (it's almost as much fun as getting it!). Who wants some tomorrow?:)
  14. I'm having a problem with sitemeter this afternoon, too. It worked beautifully before they had to go and "fix" it! I'm hoping that perhaps it's just a bug and they'll get it worked out soon. I hadn't realized just how dependent upon it I had become!:glare:
  15. With my kids, pretty much . Usually not the whole thing at once -- just bits and pieces at a time -- but they are quite capable of quoting the whole thing at once when they want to!
  16. Oh, I like that answer! I'll have to remember it! My son has recently discovered the joys of speaking with telemarketers. His current favorite response, when they ask if they can speak to his father, is to say, "I'm sorry. He's grounded right now and can't come to the phone." Dorky child.:001_huh:
  17. I've had four (I have a deceased daughter, hence the discrepancy with my signature). Due to an excessive amount of uterine damage, my OB put a stop to any future pregnancies -- but under normal circumstances, I would have been allowed to have had one more (not with his blessing, but not with his complete disapproval, either).
  18. We've been with Samaritan Ministries for 11 years now and have been extremely pleased. They have covered surgeries and hospital admissions and emergency room visits and have never failed to come through for us. Do you have any specific questions? I'll do my best to help you out!
  19. I still remember anxiously awaiting my 10th birthday so I could get my ID card. It was a huge day for me! (And I still remember when I graduated from college and lost it, without so much as an apology . . . not that I'm bitter or anything.);) Congratulations to your ds on becoming official!:)
  20. I really like K9 Internet Filter. It blocks everything I ask it to block. And, if for some reason we need to access a previously blocked site, I can choose to allow it for 15 minutes. (I do this with Myspace because my oldest likes it waaay too much and would spend all her time there if I allowed her to. By keeping it filtered, I can allow her on for 15 minute increments, but no longer.) It's easy, it's effective, and it's free. HTH!:001_smile:
  21. Oh, I totally forgot about Economics! I took it during a summer session at a community college the summer before my senior year of college. I was lost from day 1 and never got any better at it. Our final exam was an open book take home essay which consisted of exactly one question -- and I didn't understand it! After agonizing over it all week long, my desperation got the better of me. My essay consisted of something along the lines of, "I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're asking. I'm only taking this course because it's a requirement in order for me to graduate. My degree will be in special education, and I will not be using these principles in my career. It is my hope that you will have mercy on me and give me a passing grade based on my consistent class attendance and effort." I was hoping for a D. When my final grade was posted, I was shocked to see that I had gotten an A.
