  1. I don't know what it means, but I will be praying. I'd be at the ER or Urgent Care STAT! :grouphug:
  2. I am helping with a co-op for the next eight weeks and would like something for a gentle introduction to classical musical for toddlers-K. I don't really know what I am looking for, so any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks!
  3. I would suggest trying to locate an Info Meeting in your area and attending. I went to my first one last month and learned a lot more than I ever could glean from the website or catalog. Check the CC website for your area. If nothing is listed, contact the State Manager and request one. That worked for me! We are hoping to get a CC started in my area in the fall, my dd and I are excited!
  4. I think it depends on the child. I looked at HOD, even bought the guide, but it is too flighty for my dd. She can sit for house & listen to chapter books. She loves the orderliness of MP K, and pulls out the SL binder herself. She really likes the timeline & map activities in SL as well. IMHO, it depends on the child. :)
  5. Due in early October. Trying not to fret because of a past m/c. Hcg levels great (tripled in 48 hours), have ultrasound on 2/17. If that is good, then I will breathe a HUGE sigh of relief. Trusting God either way!
  6. I would check http://www.jeanniefulbright.com for help with this. :)
  7. I vote for Ergo, too! I carried dd until she was almost 40 pounds. She loved it! Sorry I sold it, now looking for another one for litle dd. You can put them on ou back with no help.
  8. What worked for me when I was unable to be the full-time teacher was ACE paces. We started by trying the first quarter which is three paces per subject. It is inexpensive, super easy for anyone to teach and sef-paced. The child can do one section in each pace aiy. Where to begin & end each day is clearly marked. For our science nut, when he was that little we worked through Considering God's Creation and then worked on some of the books from Great Science Adventures. My ds loved them!
  9. Don't forget the outlet malls! Shopping, lunch, Starbucks. Makes for a great day!
  10. I waited too because I was 2nd guessing what I saw. My dd had one that did the same. She has had glasses since September and the problem goes away with them. I don't think you did any damage. If you search this forum for pediatric opthamologist you will find a thread I started when I was having concerns as well. The thread has lots of info from these wonderful ladies!
  11. I, too, love SL. We will be doing Core 1 with CC and MP 1st grade in the fall. Along with a toddler & a new baby due in October, I think that will keep me busy!
  12. We won't tell anyone else until after 16 weeks because we lost one between our two dd's at about 13 weeks. It was a heartwrenching experience that I hope and pray we do not have to repeat - EVER! We had already told everyone of course, then had to call and tell everyone when we lost it, so now we wait. We didn't tell anyone when I became pregnant with the littlest dd (except a few close family members so they could pray) until I was more than five months. We used the "sperm meets egg" plan, for the 2nd time (littlest dd was conceived using this method) and it has worked the first time, both times! We "tried" after my last cycle in December and achieved success! You can google it if you want to use it. Just SOO happy I wanted to share! I will be 40 in April! :hurray:
  13. :iagree: My dh does this (in addition to other things to help) and it is awesome. He trusts me to research and decide what's best. I trust him to help me if I need a sounding board.
  14. Will pray. I know how hard it is to trust Him when you pray for things that don't come to pass, especially for healing for a child. I have one in heaven myself. Please don't abandon God. He can be YOUR strength so you can be strong for the men you adore. Cry out, scream, yell, be angry! He can take it, He will listen, and He understands that we are only human. Hugs and prayers as you go through these extremely difficult times.
  15. No, but it looks great. Think I will check it out tomorrow!
  16. Wow, never heard of these! We have Bitty Baby & Bitty Twins. Dd will be wanting a bigger one before I know it! I did see the VF dolls, but glad to know about these. Thanks ladies!
  17. Love, love, love library sales! We have found fabulous books for cheap, cheap, cheap! I bought banana boxes full of books for $10. Some I kept, and some I sold to make $$ for curriculum I wanted. Also, we lived in central Florida, and the school boards there had book depositories where they put all of the books they discontinued or pulled from library shelves. They were open select hours, and sometimes we got brand new material because the curriculum publishers sent the school system entire kits to peruse trying to get them to change publishers. Check with your local school board and see what they do with their old books. We have lots of older hardbacks on our shelves because of this!
  18. We used a few classes with FLVS. Do not count this out! They are VERY parent oriented & parent friendly. Also, you can pick & choose semester long or year long classes. You can also "try" a class for 30 days and drop it before the end of those 30 days with no penalty or record of such. Our ds used some of them so he could graduate a year early and we liked it. I did have to hire a tutor for Calculus, lol! Just saying, don't totally chunk this option. It's free and you can try it with no risk. By the way, we have been on both ends of the spectrum. I know how difficult it is to budget or find free things. Hang in there lady, it's an investment in their future and I am sure you are doing a great job!! :D
  19. First, I would call the electric company and have them re-read the meter. If the difference is that high, it may not be you at all. I have had this happen to me. That is a significant change!
  20. :iagree:This would probably make it easier on everyone. Of course, if some of the programs you are currently using fit this criteria, then just get what you need. For the Jr. High Science (I am not very science oriented) I had my ds do BJU videos when I was so sick preggo I could not get off of the couch and dh was deployed. It worked out great! Blessings as you try to figure this out. :)
  21. :iagree: I second these! DH is an accomplished pianist & teacher and he loves these!
  22. I do want to add that my dd completed some pages several of the R&S preschool books before starting MP. We coupled those workbooks with Sonlight and we loved how they meshed together. We are now combining SL Core K and MP K, which is working out nicely as well. We used SL from 7th-10th grade with my ds, and then switched to Notgrass. We love SL and plan to continue combining these as long as it is working. Planning to try up Classical Conversations in the fall to see how the three work together.
