  1. I don't have any wisdom to share but I am walking the same path right now. It sure does hurt my feet sometimes!
  2. My ds got braces when he was just turned 12yo. Most of the kids at the orthodontist are in the early to mid teen age range.
  3. I don't think dh and I are in the breathing each others air category and never have been. I do believe we were destined to be together. I love him, I don't want to imagine life without him, but we do not share a mad passion... neither of us are that energetic :tongue_smilie: We love, we are loved, we share, we care, we comfort, we are bonded. It's a beautiful warm fuzzy feeling :001_wub:
  4. I've not ever heard of 'pigs breakfast' before either. I recently started watching Yes, Prime Minister on netflix-online. I don't recall watching it years ago so it's like new to me now.
  5. Thanks! I never knew they offered that option. I was looking for plants located near me but it seems the closest one, about an hour away, closed earlier this year laying off 400 workers. :(
  6. Can you tell me how you go about purchasing direct from Tyson?
  7. You can subscribe to a thread. That will add a checkmark when you view the main list of threads, or you can check your subscribed threads by accessing your control panel. HTH
  8. This is definitely the option I would choose, along with the 'go back to bed' one. Think of it as the kitties earning their keep :D
  9. Yay for him and you too! Top 1%, eh? Well done your dh! :hurray:
  10. I had an awful time as a child due to a very sensitive gag reflex. My mum had me practice with soft bread rolled into 'pills'. I had to pop the bread 'pill' into my mouth and do a pretend chewing motion with my mouth (not really chewing anything) and then swallow, as if I was swallowing a mouthful of food. The practice did help me a lot and I was soon able to swallow even larger pills from then on. HTH
  11. Paternal grandfather - Navy - Chief Petty Officer aboard HMS Ark Royal, torpedoed off the coast of Gibraltar during WWII. Maternal grandfather - Army - trained mine and explosives personel, stationed at Salisbury plain. Dh's maternal grandfather - Navy Dh - Air Force, 4 years, stationed in the UK (luckily for me :D )
  12. Yes, but I don't remember the name of the show, it was some type of chat show. It was in the UK, I'd just returned for a visit and my Mum had me tag along with her a group of her work colleagues. There were signs and staff there to tell the audience when to clap, clap again for a retake, and cheer a bit during the key points of the show. During the individual 'chats' though the audience reacted without prompting. It resulted in one particular interviewee getting zero reaction, he was sooooo bizarre and when the show aired he had been cut completely out. It was a fun experience but I don't know why anyone would want to be on tv. The retakes, the fakeness. ugh!
  13. Do you live in the UK still? How about anyone who lived in the UK for a significant portion of time? I'm English, born in London, raised in Swindon, Wilts. :ack2: I've lived in the USA for 20 years having moved here to get married when I was 19yo. That's a looooooooong time ago!
  14. I don't know about marriage but I know a 16yo can legally leave home and not be made to return by authorities. You cannot vote at 16. Not sure about apartments without parental consent... but then a lot of places here (NC) don't allow anyone under age 21 to rent an apartment either. It's been a long time since i lived in the UK, I left when I was 19 which was 20 years ago. The housing situation isn't the same as typically seen here with large scale apartment complexes for individuals to rent. Most were owned by the local council or housing associations. A 16yo *could* get a home if they proved they were in need of one but typically teens got offered bedsits instead of full apartments. As I said, my understanding is from a looooong time ago. Things may have changed or have been totally different in another part of the country. HTH
  15. I wish! We're nearing record high temps here in NC with a forecast of 78* today. :(
  16. Top few are... Jonathan Creek - season 2 My Family and Other Animals The Nutcracker ballet X2: X-men United Puccini: La Boheme The Constant Gardener Prince - The Hits Collection How Art Made the World Waking the Dead - season 1 Koi... Mil Gaya and other randomosity! :D
  17. What might cause my ds(13) to have aching joints? He's had a cold for a couple of weeks, as have I which is why I didn't consider his to be anything more. His cough is mostly gone, stuffy nose and blocked ears for a day or two recently, but now he's saying all his joints ache. He's been telling me for a couple of days that his feet ache. I didn't pay much attention to that but this evening he's saying his joints ache. Any ideas?
  18. I'm so sorry for you loss. My prayers are with you.
  19. Our basement room is partitioned with bookcases. They're bolted together and then secured to the wall to make them safe.
  20. The schools here (NC) are on fall break so schools are closed.
  21. She's precious! What are Bengal's like personality-wise, how about their meow? The markings are gorgeous.
  22. I'd finding an apprenticeship or other work opportunities for him while still encouraging (forcing?) him to continue studies for select academics.
  23. But but but... then I'll want to participate! I'll feel compelled! Remember 999 is the emergency call number in the UK... Heeeeeeeeeelp!! We need a little bobby smiley now.
  24. I had one of those from the start. Used it like Chance in Yahtzee, for books that didn't fit elsewhere... :D Perhaps if I had a 999 list completely of "Other" or "Misc." :tongue_smilie:
  25. I don't know that I will, though I am tempted. I found myself reading books only because they fit one of my 888 categories and not because it was a book I was truly interested enough (before 888) to read. I know the lists can be altered... and mine were, for both the categories and some of the book choices, 3 times in fact! I liked being guided in my reading, however this felt too forced at times. I've still got 3 books left for 888, it's looming over me. EEK! That said, I'm new to using reading lists and love knowing where I'm going next AND yet being able to sneak away from a preplanned read to something that catches my eye at that moment.
