  1. I loved your last option so I voted. Lol. However....to answer...nope not yet. Don't know when to start. But we are getting bored here for sure.
  2. I'm going to give Blackbird and Company Educational Press a try. :) I haven't ordered yet but they look.pretty good.
  3. There are no pics that fit my criteria. Bwahaaaa! Seriously. May explain why I never lose and at least bimonthly get asked when I'm due. :tongue_smilie:
  4. Sigh. I understand. Sunday a man asked DH when he was going to be a father. I overheard. Ive been humiliated a few times each year. Lol. Yesterday I told Rich "see people must want us to have more kids!" One time someone argued with me that I was pregnant....she wouldn't believe me. Seriously. I was mortified.
  5. In particular...second and fourth graders who are well beyond those and you are more classical eclectic mix. I don't mean FIAR usage or a particular curriculum but maybe for science or even poetry or lit or anything else. What do your children think? Is it good or beneficial to throw something like that in your studies?
  6. We are using this coming fall. I love the set up and student notebook....I think it all looks great. My daughter has a horse now so its perfect timing to learn so much. In fact I will be looking at the guide in a few minutes to familarize myself with it.
  7. This blog post may be useful.I found it awhile back when I was lookingfor info. We plan to use it in the fall. http://traceymansted.blogspot.com/2011/09/toad-and-mole-and-ratty-too.html
  8. fourcatmom- I can't recall what you'd be using for Ancients..would you use Illuminations? I had printed out the sample, etc., of that, when I was debating between that and TGTL but TGTL won. LOL at your "disclaimer" thought!!! :)
  9. I love when threads go off topic and I love TGTL so I'll chime in. LOL. I shortened several units by a couple weeks and it worked out okay. I also am thinking of skipping POP and doing other history years with something else then when my son (going in second) is a little older hitting POP. We did POE last year. Planning on POS this year. I add stuff, so I'm not planning on shortening too much, maybe a couple units by a week or so. I don't necessarily do their language arts as my children are on the young side of using the program. I think omitting things as needed still lets you use the program well!!!
  10. In POE, one was for reading aloud, the other for the child to read to him/her-self. I read the one aloud, and let my children read the other themselves. I am not sure what I'll do with POS. I'd rather not read aloud, LOL. My children are good readers, so I will probably let them take turns reading one of the books aloud, themselves, for practice.
  11. Cool! I heard about it but had forgotten. I think I saw it when I looked at a program on Bright Idea Press which suggested it.
  12. Forgot to say that I did shorten the first few units because of wanting them to line up correctly for Thanksgiving, etc. It didn't make things feel off or too hurried for us.
  13. I love the history & geography. Definitely worth getting just for that.
  14. Well, mom&nana... I think I'm a bit eclectic. Too much so sometimes. Ha! But honestly it worked for us. We did not use ES so much...just here and there. I preferred other language arts with my first and third grader this past year. I may utilize most of the LA in POS for my fourth grader this year. However I love having my kids read other good classic lit too. And I didn't follow EVERYTHING to a "T"... we seemed to follow this pattern: morning was non POE stuff. After lunch we did the reading part of POE and history and geography- and whatever else such as the art planned. HTH.
  15. We did POE last year. Planning on POS this fall. I thought POE definitely had units worth using. But if your heart is set on skipping POE you wouldn't have a problem skipping it. I do think POS has a different flavor than POE but that I am saying just looking at it in hand.
  16. Thoughts? In particular thinking of using it for my fourth grader. Thanks!
  17. You could check out Paths of Exploration - Trail Guide to Learning.
  18. Thank you soooo much for sharing. What a wonderful wonderful blessing and way God used you. Beautiful. Made me cry.
  19. Paths of Exploration- big hit! Teaching Textbooks-hit! Really helped DD enjoy math and progress I added book one of these Aesop language arts books by Royal Fireworks Press for DS- hit! Going to add the other books in for second grade. Also Memorial Press had a hit- Storytime Treasures. Very specifically, I loved the Secret Garden Progeny Press guide for DD. And the guide for Farmer Boy by Memorial Press. Another hit - IEW themed writing book- Fairy Tales and Myths for DD Misses: liked Elemental Science but we couldn't get to it consistently at all. Also, Spanish....too sporadic. I think the problem was me not the programs.
