  1. I'm sorry you have to put up with rude comments! If it will make you feel better, I will share few stories: When I was 8 months pregnant with my oldest child, an elderly woman came up to me in a dept. store at the mall and said, "I don't see a wedding ring on your finger. I sure hope the father of that baby is still in the picture!" [i had removed my wedding ring a few months earlier because my hands were so swollen.] Then, when I was 6-7 months pregnant with my second child, I was in the mall again (different mall, different state) waiting in line at the pretzel place. A teenage girl who was ahead of me in line looked me up and down and asked, "How old are you? Are you married?" To that I replied, "I am in my 30's and I have been married for almost 10 years!" I wish I had had the guts to say that to the elderly woman 3 years before!
  2. That happened to one of my friends as well. She had given someone a gift and awhile later that person regifted it back to her! Oops!
  3. I'll go first: My teenage celebrity crush was Rick Springfield! :o Anyone else?
  4. I agree. Don't give anyone your bank account info; PayPal would be much safer.
  5. they get a big box of goodies from CBD? My order was just delivered and my children and I thoroughly enjoyed opening that brown box with the blue letters! What's even more exciting is that many of the items in the box cost less than $1 -- yay! We're very easy to please; give us a big box of books and we're happy as clams! :D
  6. My 7-year-old son is exactly the same -- he makes a huge mess whenever he eats. If we have Chinese food, I am picking up rice for the next week! My ds has fine motor issues, for which he was going to OT. The therapy helped a little bit, but he's still a messy eater. I'm hoping he grows out of it soon!
  7. My dc are only allowed to play with their Nintendo DS on the weekends (Friday after school, Sat & Sun) for 20-30 minutes per day, sometimes a little longer if they haven't watched any TV that day. The game is put away out of their reach the other days of the week.
  8. Today is the last day of school so we stopped at Sonic on the way home. I had a SuperSonic Breakfast Burrito and a Cherry Limeade.
  9. I love Gevalia. I used to belong to their coffee club, but it got too expensive so I cancelled my membership. Right now I'm drinking a store brand, which isn't half bad. I also like to get coffee at Sonic, of all places. Everyone in awhile I will stop and get a cup. It's only $1.09 for a large cup, much more affordable than a cup of Starbuck's.
  10. I can totally relate! Shortly after giving birth to my DD4, I craved Dr. Pepper and drank several cans each day. That phase lasted 3-4 months and then I went back to Coca-Cola. I am a complete wreck if I don't have at least one can a day!
  11. Which do you like to drink and how do you take it? I tend to drink coffee in the AM and tea in the PM. Edited to add: I take my coffee with cream. I drink black and green tea, plain. Anyone else?
  12. Yay! It's always an accomplishment to find a suit that fits well and looks great!
  13. My parents didn't censor my reading material and, as a result, I read a lot of inappropriate books: The Amityville Horror Cujo, The Shining, Carrie, and other Stephen King books Flowers in the Attic (and other V.C. Andrews books) Forever, Wifey, and other Judy Blume books Audrey Rose Helter Skelter (that one scared the living daylights out of me) Sweet Valley High series Sweet Dreams series
  14. How horrible! I don't understand how someone could ever think using language like that while talking to a child was funny.
  15. What's the most insensitive/offensive thing someone has ever said to you? I can think of a few, but this is the most recent one (actually, it's really more of a back-handed compliment): A few years ago, I was at my dermatologist's office for acne. My breakouts were not all that bad, but I was tired of always having a few pimples on my face. Everything went well; he wrote me a prescription and turned to leave the exam room. Then he stopped and said, "You know, in here under this lighting your skin doesn't look all that bad." I replied, "I know my skin isn't horrible, but I'd really like it to clear up completely." To that he replied, "Oh, I wasn't talking about your acne. I was talking about your wrinkles. For a woman your age, you really don't look that bad." Ummm, thanks so much! (I was 34 at the time!) Anyone else care to share their stories?
  16. Fun poll! Here are mine: Jesus Princess Diana JFK, Jr. Mikhail Baryshnikov Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo
  17. We've had good luck with Hampton Inn. Some of the newer ones are really pretty nice.
  18. Is the event black-tie? Do you have to wear a ballgown? Could you get by wearing cocktail attire? Macy's, Nordstrom & Norstrom Rack would be great places to check. Also, Dillard's, Belk, and Bloomies. All of those stores have a great selection and great sales too. Good luck -- have fun!
