  1. First call the company and ask them what they are going to do today. Do they have a plumber they would like you to call (and send them the bill?) Too many time we are left with the fixing of a problem someone else created-- they made the problem, they can do the figuring out. Call a tree guy and ask what to do with the tree-- they may have some suggestions as to how to band-aid the tree.
  2. I like my waterbed-- I don't care if it is a throwback from the '70's and isn't very pretty. It keeps me cool in the summer and warm in the winter. You will have to pry it from my cold dead hands (except they won't be cold-- because I have a waterbed)
  3. too dark and not light hearted enough
  4. A flute. I have always wanted to play the flute--- my mother wouldn't let me-- she said there was too much competition (too many flutes in a band) so I played the clarinet (and hated it) but was first chair for 8 years. A trip to Ireland or Scotland--- don't know why but I really want to go there.
  5. The website showed "something" in Florida---- I really want one too---- cough, cough-- not gonna happen
  6. I would really like to own a projector that hooks up to the computer for our classroom. I don't know what I need to look for. I don't have much of a budget and I don't need the very best. I want to be able to project maps and charts and such from the computer screen to the wall. I currently own a regular projector but finding printed materials for it is hard (they just don't make them anymore) I could try and print from the printer but this sounds more useful for other things. So please help me find one that will work. There is one on Amazon for about $190 but is says it doesn't show words very clearly (good for movies though) What is the difference? You know, when reading the tech stuff, what should I look for? And what types of "hook-ups" do I need-- to my knowledge I only have USB ports on the computer (and ethernet of course) I currently have a 5yo Lenovo and an iMac about the same age. The main purpose is for school stuff, projecting things I have purchased onto the wall so children quit grouping around my chair to see the screen (like MUS videos, wondermaps, and Mr Q's science ) The second purpose is to show movies (like liberties kids and netflix stuff) Thank you for any suggestions Oh and available an Amazon is a plus since I have some money reserved there.
  7. My feet get cold with shoes on, so I wear socks (sometimes several) The only tolerable drink at Starbucks is a mocha with raspberry syrup -- thereby masking the burnt taste. It goes well with lemon cake.
  8. isn't Dr Pepper made from prune juice?
  9. or a suicide--- which is all the sodas mixed together-- ahh the teen years
  10. I have some very pretty boxes that match and nestle (so they don't take up much room the rest of the year) and they sit under the tree. I like the train idea (except it would be destroyed by something (cat, dog, child) before Christmas.
  11. If you live near me I will take a sick child for special occasions.
  12. i agree with the ideal, but I would only have one child. Perhaps our lives would be wealthier, but I think it would be less rich
  13. I think the rules of weird are different for each generation and for each stage in life. I think that it is strange this soon, but I am not 70 or raised in their times.
  14. I refused to even look at houses that had HOAs. Our neighborhood is actually increasing in value because people are starting to want a house without HOAs. I will take the weird colors and the occasional broken down car so that I can have toys in the front yard and not have to have permission to put in a stone pathway (yes our last HOA actually made someone remove a pretty stone pathway because his neighbor didn't like the style--?) Honestly I think HOAs turn neighbors into narcs and ruin the sense of community.
  15. Pot roast sandwich made with toasted french bread, hellman's mayo, homemade pot roast (heated- and with the little cooked onion bits on it) However, I am the strange one in that I won't eat potato chips with out a sandwich, or a sandwich without potato chips. So -- no chips--- no sandwich no matter the flavor.
  16. I am am overweight and have blood sugar issues-- I know carbs are bad bad bad for me. I am making homemade biscuits for breakfast. Judge away
  17. My biggest peeve of the season is how the grocery stores line the isles with stuff--- like I cannot find pumpkin unless you stick it on a three feet display right next to the pie crusts. You don't need to cram every isle with displays when there are twice as many shoppers that need to go through those same isles. I actually refuse to shop at Kroger anymore during the holidays--I had to reverse out of too many isles to let others go past a "display" of a common item stuck in the isle. Walmart will price match and I can still walk through the isles.
  18. I truly dislike having to "run the gauntlet" every time I buy my groceries. I do not care if it is boy scouts, girl scouts, santas, military vets, firemen with boots, --- whatever. I want to get into and out of the store without having to buy something else or try to say "no" without hurting the feelings of a small child freezing to death selling cookies outside in the cold.
  19. I have come to like the jar system too!! /unfortunately, they don't do flat things--- like meatloaf I have some plastic ones that my mother bought me at Goodwill, they come on a rotating tray (that I tossed) they nestle inside each other nicely http://www.asseenontv.com/spin-around-organizer-49-pc-set-blue/detail.php?p=300725&v=kitchen
  20. I have hired people from those tech schools--- they had good grades and came highly recommended by the school--- worst employees--- thought they knew stuff but didn't and were very arrogant. We avoid the people from trade schools.
  21. I hate the Olympics -- I find it to be a waste of resources --- monetary, human and earth resources. I went to a training center and heard that the trainees eat something like 5000-8000 calories a day because they work out so much. So they consume enough calories in one day to feed someone else for a week -- so that they can burn it off running in a circle??? Why?? to be the best at something that contributes nothing to the improvement of the world. All the money and sacrifice and years of work would be better spent on just about anything.
  22. I don't get the whole idea of donating gifts to charity. If I took the time and spent the money to get a gift to take to your child's party, I would be offended that you gave it away to charity. Just tell me to not bring a gift.
  23. He was in the time traveling movie--- where they go back to the middle ages (pretty good history movie for us geeky homeschoolers)
  24. One of the greatest regrets of my life is that I passed up the opportunity to meet him in person. It was a weird situation and I made the right choice (except that he died a couple of months later)
