  1. Did you know that TJ Maxx and Marshalls are owned by the same corp? Often if I find half of a set that I love at one in town, I find the other half at the sister store! Worth a look.
  2. I would be extremely interested in this list also. Otherwise, hours of flipping through cards and curriculum...
  3. http://www.epicurious.com/recipesmenus/advancedsearch http://www.recipezaar.com/sifter.php I like these two site because you can choose which ingredients to include and which ingredients to EXCLUDE!
  4. We only have five weeks left, and I can hardly fuss at the boys when I am the one constantly distracted. Where do you dig out the motivation to finish strong? If you don't have any magic words, at least tell me I'm not the only one!
  5. One strategy that has worked for me is to check the actual airports involved and find out what regional carriers service them. There are quite a few airlines that don't show up on Orbitz, Travelocity. Southwest is the best known, but there is also AirTran, Spirit, Frontier... Look at their specific websites. I agree 90 days out, purchased over the internet, obtains the best fares.
  6. I read this book a few years ago. It has the feel of truthfulness. I was grateful for the insight to another culture/belief system that took me out of my suburban fog for a time.
  7. Yes, we use this - I think it is a wonderful value. My boys ask to do an art lesson. We really like that at each step of the video instruction, I can pause with a mouse click. It allows them to draw that portion without feeling hurried. I appreciate that the lessons are short and direct. The only downside is that I haven't been able to figure out the order of the main lessons.
  8. I've coined new phrase for my body type - I'm naturally round. Unfortunately, unlike you - not so healthy, so back to celery I go.
  9. Yep, this is exactly what my Dr. told me the LAST time I lost 50 lbs. Then life got difficult, I gained back 40 and have just recently feel the emotional energy to take on the diet/exercise beast again. I'm so frustrated to be back in the SAME PLACE three years later. This time it seems twice as hard, but I have purposed to live a healthful life. From all of the posts, sounds like we could have a club of "50's" - and I don't mean age. :001_smile:
  10. We just found Bison hotdogs at Whole Foods, not organic. They were amazing; still had the hotdoggy taste but better - didn't shrink by 50% when cooked. The per/pound price looks high, but it works out to about $1.00/hotdog. It is that time of year!
  11. You will never be sorry you went; you might be sorry you didn't.
  12. Are you talking about the adults or the children? The responses make it sound like it might be the same!
  13. Give yourself permission to do whatever is BEST for your family. That might mean upholding the "we never quit" standard, or an "I can admit my mistakes" lesson, or something else altogether. Only you can identify what core values are involved. From a financial perspective is sounds like you are out $100 either way - $100 if you walk away or an extra $100 if you stay.
  14. My biggest cleaning strategy is to ban the two boys from the downstairs half/guest bath. Upstairs is a different story! Sorry to say they also could use more frequent attention. By the time I get there, it is definitely time to pull out the Clorox something. And where does all that hair come from? OK - I've shared too much now.
  15. You might have an easier time of finding pictures of the reverse. Such as two friends holding hands for "be kind" two children playing for "share" Otherwise, you could also find pics of hitting, kicking and just draw your own big, red circle with a slash.
  16. Ditto. It's inexpensive, and they also sell Tea Tree Oil in the same section. I just add a few extra drops to the shampoo to bump it up a notch.
  17. If they are a fairly fluent reader, you could consider Josephine Pollard's series A Childs History of America told in One Syllable Words. There are five books in the series and were republished by Mantle Ministries 12 years ago. http://mantleministries.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=MM&Category_Code=OS
  18. Mine would be likely to EAT it! If not him, then definitely the little one.
  19. It is so encouraging to hear my voice in everyone else's house! We also have "change your heart" "please just eat now" "Squeek" - said by whoever gets an extra big hug.
  20. We do have a weekly park afternoon. All of the boys like to play very vigourously. The most common games are two-hand touch football and basketball. Most of the disagreement is related to the game - what are the rules going to be, who are the teams, so-and-so fouled/did not. Some of the boys really want the games to be "real", meaning college or professional rules; others just want to play! We are part of the later group, and its presented a good opportunity to work on conflict resolution with my two.
  21. Yep, we started using Cetaphil because of extremely dry, cracked skin on hands in the winter. Just as wonderful as many expensive products, and recommended by our Derm. Curious about the honey - how exactly would one "wash" with it?
  22. If your local library subscribes to on-line databases, this may already be free to you.
  23. by Virgil Hillyer My copy was published by Calvert.
  24. We have both. My son (10) really enjoys and is reading the Grueber for his History Core becasue we HATE these Usborne selections, (now nearing the end of our first year of TOG). I read the Famous Men for about 30 minutes each morning. It's a good way to reinforce what's in their personal reading. FM is definitely more on the biography side than on the story-telling side, but still holds attention. I think it is a matter of personal taste. TOG definitely has a challenge because they can only recommend books in the program that are currently in print. So that means reprints of classics or the current publishing trend (DK, Eyewitness, Usborne, You wouldn't want to be.. If you lived...). If you are able to find them a good mid-road choice are OOPs like Landmark, Famous Childhood, Signature Biography....
  25. Ours are: "Hands off the walls." "Normal voice please." Honestly, I have very sweet, and mostly obedient boys; yet somehow, I find myself saying these two things constantly. The voice thing is particularly annoying as they use fake southern/baby/cowboy/strange accents to highlight anything they think is funny. All attempts to break these habits have failed. Anybody else have phrases that are simply background noise? Do you just give up, keep reminding, lay down heavy discipline, what?
