  1. We are using and selling it. The thing I like about the shakes is they actually taste good, like really good. I have several friends using it and they all like and they have all lost weight using it. We don't push the selling/signing up as distributors. We offer samples and if someone is interested then we give them a link to the website to order what they want. I have lost 18 lbs using the shakes and eating healthy normal food.
  2. You could contact some different agencies (Wycliffe Bible Translators, Mission Aviation, or some from your church) and see if they could connect you with someone. We are church planters and there are lots of different missionaries that live in the US too.
  3. We are in a 1300 sq ft house and we are a family of 6. We homeschool and dh works at home. We have all the boys in one bedroom with bunkbeds. Instead of having clothes in closets or dressers we converted part of a garage to clothes storage. So I would consider the basement for storage/clothes/family closet. I have one bookcase and one cabinet with all our homeschool stuff. I use the closets in the house (they aren't huge but not tiny either) for storage. The closet in our bedroom has extra office things and my craft stuff. The boys closet has their boxes of "stuff" and one side it has shelves that has extra non school books.
  4. I am planning on using SOTW with my three younger ones and having my 7th grader add in outlining from Kingfisher along with extra reading from Trial and Triumph and other history related books including some primary source materials.
  5. If you like Winterpromise on Facebook then they have a link to a two week sample of this program. I downloaded that to see if it would be a good program for us.
  6. We sponsor through both. I prefer sponsorship through compassion. When I mail letters to compassion, I have the option to go online and email them (with fun paper and photos) or I can mail to CI headquarters and they send them to the child's country. When I mail to our WV child I have to mail to the country directly which is a little more work/expensive for me. For choosing a child with Compassion, our first one was born the same year as our youngest child. Our second one has the same birthday as one of our boys. Also our second child had been on the waiting list for almost a year. I specifically chose a child that had been waiting for a sponsor.
  7. I would have thought Legoland was over priced if I hadn't had a coupon. If you get their LEGO club magazine (it is free) then there are usually coupons in it.
  8. We are about an hour north of Austin, hope you enjoy it!
  9. That was it! Thanks so much! Now to pin it so I don't forget it!
  10. Thanks I will look at that one. This had something about Right brained in the title and it was on a blog. Off to search some more. I really can't believe I didn't pin it. The blog (or website) looked really good and one article I wanted to read again was about aspie and right brain learners.
  11. I think I found the link from here the other day about a book about right brained learners. I thought I pinned the blog/link to pinterest, but can't find it now. Anyone have any idea what it might be? Thanks
  12. If you have a membership to Sam's or know someone who does Sam's has laminating pouches much cheaper.
  13. Ok just had time to reread the responses and I am wondering what we need to do to work on his memory and retrieval. I have read the article by Karen Hollis and am in the process of rereading and making notes. I was actually encouraged by what she wrote philosophy of education and timelines. I appreciate all your responses and help. We have a journey with the child. He was dx'd as aspie at 5 with a bilateral processing disorder and now this new info. I am struggling to rethink my choices for the best curriculum with him and to retrain some of my thinking about the best way to help him achieve his goals.
  14. Thank you so much! I am looking at suggestions and think we may keep using WWE for the narrations (which he really enjoys and does well with) and skip the copy work until he can type on his own.
  15. Thanks, he doesn't seem to have pain with handwriting. He has spatial issues and problems remembering how to form letters. I guess I am wondering if he will continue to benefit from WWE if he doesn't do the copy work. Or how should we do the copywork to make it benefit him. We are getting a referral for OT from our ped so hopefully that will help also.
  16. One of our boys was just evaluated and found to have a ld related to writing. They didn't dx dysgraphia b/c they don't test for that specifically in our ISD. They did find that he was well behind in writing and has short term memory deficits and deficits in long term retrieval and NO fine motor problems, so we are sure this is a processing disorder. Currently we are using WWE and we enjoy it but I am not sure if we should continue to use it or if there is a program that is better suited for him. He is in 2nd grade and is in book 1. Copy work is painful for him. We do school year round so we will continue to work during the summer and we are going to focus on doing writing 8 exercises but that is the only handwriting we are going to focus on at this time. In the fall we will begin working with HWT again. Just looking for suggestions for a writing program or suggestions for using WWE?
  17. I actually used Biblioplan this year and was considering just using SOTW and AG's next year, but after I compared them, I decided to continue using Biblioplan. I like that Biblioplan already questions typed up to us and my olders can use them semi independently. The maps are printed out with instructions on them. I just figured that with the work it would take for me to make the AG work (because we wouldn't do the questions all orally) that it still made sense to use Biblioplan. We have really enjoyed all the books we have used and love having literature scheduled and even some writing assignments.
  18. Is there a schedule that uses the format of WTM of note taking, outlining, narration?
  19. We do and decided today to sponsor another one. A friend posted this blog post today with a link to waiting children. I suggest you go there and search for a child that has been waiting for a sponsor. That is what I am doing. You can even search by birth day if you want to. http://www.bloggingfromtheboonies.com/2012/02/waiting.html
  20. I would step out of the normal bfast ideas and just find something that you like preferably with more protein. If you do yogurt, greek yogurt is higher in protein. Grits are corn based and are great with a little cheese sprinkled in. Google primal/paleo foods and you should find some non typical options that won't be grain based (but you will have to skip the eggs).
  21. You have gotten great advice. If you have not read them i would highly recommend the books, Grace Based Parenting and Shepherding your Child's Heart.
