  1. There is no "Other"! :P I would love to be a prepper, however finances and space don't allow for it. I have some bulked up but not enough to get through a major crisis. *sigh* I wish.
  2. I have one in my siggy as well. I am just starting out though. I like it so far, I plan on doing a whole lot more!
  3. Lovely heart felt post... OP Maybe you should print out this thread and let her see it. :)
  4. I agree with the other posters. This isn't something you can keep from dh, ever. By wanting to do it on the sly she is (basically) saying he has no say in what happens at all. That isn't a marriage. She needs to discuss it with her dh. Let him decide what he wants to do and then they can come to an accord. For the record school is possible with a child. Why would she think it isn't? My dh didn't start college until after TWO kids were born, and he had graduated with a bachelors. My dh's brother got a Masters while his wife (my SIL) was pregnant and had the baby. It is possible and doesn't need to be a factor! I say again... she needs to tell her dh. It wouldn't be right (or fair) otherwise.
  5. Actually... pen is better. There is less drag on his hand and he doesn't feel like he has to press as hard either. I converted to pen with my kids a few months ago, I never heard one complaint. I will use pen with ds4.. well when he gets to the age to write :) If he wants to use pen, go for it. It might not be as "neat" as if he can erase but it will be easier for him. If you want, have him practice the lesson on lines paper, then when he is ready actually write in the book to eliminate serious messiness.
  6. I believe you can soak in acetone (nail polish remover just make sure it isn't acetone free) and it will get it off.
  7. It keeps clumping on me. How do I keep it from happening?
  8. We used them once with ds4 in his therapy session. They are OK. The problem I have with them is that my son didn't grip the pencil. He would keep his fingers in the claw but not grip. I don't know if yours would do that. Honestly, if you want to work on grip get these or use very short pencils. My ds4 likes to hold regular crayons, pens and pencils resting on his pinky, instead of the ring finger or middle finger. So we take and break the crayons in half and that corrects his grip. You can try these or these as well.
  9. Couple questions... If I end up not being able to send a book... because something happens to it :glare: does that reflect badly on me in anyway? Like feedback or anything? Second... How do I tell if there is a book available? I am looking for a couple books for DD but can't tell if anyone has them to send.
  10. I knew I liked you Rosie. My dh, who has a degree in computers had to take courses like Psychology, Sociology and English 101. Why? You don't need to talk to computers so why Psych or Sociology? The "language" you write in for computers doesn't require you to know how to write an essay or narrate (or whatever else) for English 101. I would agree that 75% of a 4 year degree is all fluff classes that aren't needed. For instance for my HR degree.. what did I need a marketing class for?? Ugh, I hate.. hate... college. However in order to go anywhere in life (aside from doing it yourself) it is pretty much required. Chaps my hide.
  11. I had kidney stone is both kidneys year before last. I went to the ER as It was painful and they gave me percocet (with phenegrin for nausea). I have heard that lemon juice breaks them up. My SIL is a nurse and her dad is a doctor and he drinks a glass of lemon water everyday and doesn't get bothered by them. HTH! ETA: I agree with others, you will need pain meds.... OK well depending on size but you probably will.
  12. I need to do this, I want to try a series of scalp treatments with some tea tree, peppermint and various other EOs. However the last time I tried it my hair was greasy for days. I am a "no poo" user. I use baking soda for "Shampoo" and apple cider vinegar for "conditioner". How do I get the oil out of my hair? If I try to use regualr shampoo my scalp is worse. Help?
  13. I want to try a bread recipe but it calls for rolled oats not quick oats. Can I use that instead?
  14. I don't know if this will help. I too felt similar. I am a morning person naturally so I don't feel like total dog doo getting up but by noon I was horrid. It has been getting better. I can go until 4ish before I start to feel a little tired and need to rest. I am 55 pounds overweight. However weight alone isn't what is going to make you feel like crud. It is internal as well. I can't tell you how much getting rid of sugar has helped. Don't get me wrong, I still have some, in the form of xylitol. It has a low impact on blood sugar so you don't get all hyper then crash. I also do not eat many carbs at all. I haven't lost weight but my attitude has been better. I am not as angry as I used to be. I would certainly recommend a whole foods diet if at all possible. If you are going to eat some carbs at least let them be better for you than empty carbs. I know if I could exercise more (don't ask me about running here, we live in the Redneck Addams Family neighborhood) I would drop the weight. However I am doing what I can. Not losing, but not gaining either! I am 36 (almost 37). I am trying myself to get things on track! :grouphug: PM anytime!
  15. I need a plannerish type of page for scheduling. Something that starts at 7am and goes in 15 minute increments until 9pm. Any suggestions?
  16. I don't wear shoes at all. The only time I wear shoes is flip flops to hand laundry outside (then I take them off as soon as I come in) and my sneakers everywhere else. I only own one pair of shoes.
  17. No meds then. It just went away. I haven't had any problems with it for well over a year. Hmm.. I will have to try. I have tried stretches and it hasn't helped... yet. Will have to get on that again!
  18. I use Xylitol. Sweetens just like sugar but doesn't have the glycemic impact like sugar and it is good for your teeth! Xylitol inhibits plaque from forming. If you look at more natural toothpastes they use Xylitol. Trident uses it as well (along with aspartame:glare:). The caveat is it is expensive. However you will find after using it a bit you will use less and less of it (unless baking:D). I use half a cup in a gallon of sweet tea and even the kids don't complain. So that is a very good alternative for regular sugar as well.
  19. I don't think it is planar fasciitis, it doesn't run on the bottom of my foot. Is it specifically the heel. Immediately under the heal bone, right on the edge of the heal bone even. It is painful. It does act similar to PF in the way it acts. If I am sitting for any length of time. Even just a few minutes it is extremely painful to walk on and I limp (just call me gimpy :P) until is loosens or warms up I guess. However the pain never goes away completely. I have tried stretching that part of my foot, in PF faschion (like that play on fasciitis?), but it hurts.. a lot and doesn't help. It started.. ummm... Februaryish or so and has gotten a lot worse in the last few weeks. My weight hasn't changed (unfortunately), nor has my diet. Anyone have any idea what it could be?
  20. You have an evil streak in you you know that? :tongue_smilie: I feel like a kid in a candy store on that site. Bad. Very bad.
  21. I just picked it up tonight. I haven't barely glanced at it yet. I will let you know after we do it for a couple weeks! :)
  22. The Homeschool buyers co-op got me thinking about unit studies. I got the Intellego Astronomy unit study as my ds10 loves Astronomy. Which got me thinking about other unit studies... with lapbooks... is that possible? Know of any?
