  1. Have you sought out the experiences of actually autistic adults who went through this approach? They aren't hard to find. Some of these adults were nonverbal children themselves and it's important to consider their perspectives.
  2. I have greatly regretted breaks to focus on math facts. We lost time on the conceptual stuff and didn't make a lot of progress on the facts anyway. I highly recommend Reflex Math - gets mom out of the way, it's fairly fun, and it works really well for my kids. It actually includes some teaching, not just drill.
  3. I would also like to know for my 10-yo DD. We don't know much about popular programming and only have Netflix.
  4. I'd prefer everyone to join the group to stay abreast of communications there. I don't really have the time or mental capacity to send extra emails and messages to individuals with updates, I'm afraid, as much as I might like to accommodate everyone. We have 12 memberships paid so far, so it looks like we are on track for closing on the 17th (one week from today). Thanks!
  5. It is free...or everyone, really - but the membership isn't :). If you or your child check out a game there is a lot of 'members only' gear and benefits built in...they have to finance it somehow, right? :)
  6. Well, I paid the deposit, signed up for my 15 credits of courses, received the invoice, and just paid tonight. We shall see what happens next! Courses officially start Sept 1. BrainPop combo includes both. Awesome price.
  7. I'm about to buy another story Bible - save me from myself!
  8. I've used CLE with my past two readers and it has worked very well. Abeka Handbook and readers for My first and that was nice, too. Trying Progressive Phonics With my 4th Who needs lots of cuddles and frustrates easily.
  9. For Lifepacs, there is also Monarch, which is like an online option that does most of the grading. Throwing it out there since you had t4l on your list.
  10. This is why I switched to TT and fewer markable subjects :). My kids now do a mix of computer based work that self-checks/adaptive teaching, and one on one mom stuff that is done then and there. Workbook marking is deadly to my brain. It didn't get done very often...
  11. I am attempting to sign up with KOLA. Mostly for BP. We will see what happens!
  12. We are doing around 3.5 this year. Intentionally lighter to focus on therapy needs for the family this year.
  13. I know what you ladies mean...my kids love the free version...but won't.stop.hounding.me! Hosting the buy to preserve my sanity! ;). They want all the stuff.
  14. I emailed them, and sadly, they won't be buying again until February 2017.
  15. I don't want this to become a monster-buy (we only need 30 people), but if you go to Facebook and search for Prodigy Buy - Jennifer, ah, okay - here is the link: http://www.facebook.com/groups/279198482458174/ you'll find the group buy I put together...just so my kids could get cheaper memberships ;). It seems pretty straightforward, and I'd like to close August 17th, if possible.
  16. 14.70 Canadian/kid/year I'll set up a FB group :).
  17. Janeway - it's free to play. The membership upgrade is optional. We just started yesterday, but all I've heard is how much the kids need memberships. They are willing to spend allowance. To do math. DD2 said - I'm finally actually learning rounding! Gack! LOL - it's a good thing!
  18. I have an email in to Prodigy about coordinating a group buy. I could use three memberships myself.
  19. Well...this year we have cut some boring subjects and replaced with fun, online stuff. Way less nagging so far! Happy mom.
  20. Where is the best price on BrainPop and BrainPop Jr. These are 'on sale' at HSBC, but still - so expensive. I want app access included so I can stream to our TV. I know KOLA has it for PT and FT students, but I can't tell if it includes app access. GameEd MindBytes may not be on offer for this year. Any other subscription sources?
  21. Not too old to come back to! That's interesting, so which other things do you keep doing in addition to AS? I'm not sure I could convince DD to do more than the 'package deal', but I'm thinking that for her, I definitely want/need to keep her doing math when AS hasn't sent her any.
  22. Erm..my kids play outside, with Lego, in the sink...they get stories read to them....they watch/bother older siblings...chase younger siblings around...climb all over stuff...colouring/scribbling...iPad time...food... We do 4 little PreK fine motor skill workbooks that cost $8 from CLE/RS (both places sell them) after they turn 4 sometime. This has been the last three kids now...and I thought I was being superformal!! We did nothing formal for the first two.
  23. Food varies a lot regionally. I would Say it's all more expensive than in the US though. Nova Scotia is a bit Pricier than Alberta (where we used to live).
