  1. I used to go to house churches in China before coming to the USA. There was intimate relationships and good growth. I knew lots of Bible verses from listening to my African brothers preach in Mandarin. It was illegal but it was healthy spiritually. I also tried the big legal churches; I usually felt lost because I felt like one tiny drop among the vast ocean, not to mention that the sermons are censored and you don't always get the full truth. I just finished reading "So You Don't Want to Go to Church Anymore". There are lots of truths in it. However, I am not ready to give up church and attend a house church yet.
  2. That is completely normal. My son is in 3B and he does it your son's way.
  3. We do use images for educational purposes. So if K9 blocks all images, then I don't think it is good enough. Is there anything that blocks only porn images?
  4. to help prevent viewing porn? I know that the red light (traffic light) does not end traffic accidents if the driver chooses not to stop, but it can help the driver know that s/he has done something s/he is not supposed to do. Is Covenant Eye a good one? I know there is k9 and some others that are free. I am willing to pay some money if it is a very good one. Thanks!
  5. How good is K 9? Are there other free filters out there that do a good job?
  6. :bigear: Changed my question to "How many men view porn regularly and think it is normal and nothing wrong with it?"
  7. nothing is wrong? This seems so widespread. I remember someone says 90% men view porn@@@ and 50% pastors do. So what is the actual %?
  8. Young people are ok with cheese and salad now. I am from China and I got plenty of exposure to American food since I had 5 American coworkers that I ate out or in with almost every day. Young people now grew up with McDonald's and KFCs and other things. So they should be ok with some American food. But do offer them fruit as dessert on top of your own regular dessert and you will find out which they prefer.
  9. My 8 yr old son got it for his birthday and dh and my two boys play it a lot and they love it. I guess it is worth that much money. Dh bought it and I never knew how much I clicked on the link here and found it is 49.60. Gosh! Well, it is worth it if they enjoy it so much. J
  10. How about this one: 6. We're awfully cold in winter Fur is a warm hug on a cold day, useful and nearly ubiquitous among mammals. But we and a few other species, such as naked mole rats, lost it when we lived in tropical environments. Debate remains as to why this happened, but the most plausible explanation is that when modern humans began to live in larger groups, our hair filled with more and more ticks and lice. Individuals with less hair were perhaps less likely to get parasite-borne diseases. Being hairless in Africa was not so bad, but once we moved into Arctic lands, it had real drawbacks. Evolution has no foresight, no sense of where its work will go.
  11. :iagree:You are wise and you have a very wise MIL. Thank you and I feel encouraged reading your message. We need to give each other grace. I am reviewing my marriage with my dh now and I hope we will understand each other better.
  12. :iagree:I really like Counselor #3. I am doing a marriage inventory with my husband and I am praying to be humble and teachable and hear God's voice to show me what I should change and how I can understand my dh better. Yes, my value and worth comes from God.
  13. :iagree::iagree: I grew up with only textbooks and no workbooks at all. For all math, or language arts, we needed to copy all the problems (even the whole word problems) out on our own notebooks. It is just like Rod and Staff English for all my subjects that I learned in China. "Worktext and workbook" were not in my vocab until 6 years ago. So I truly am not bothered by having kids copy some questions out on paper to do. I was tempted to switch to MM in August. I am so glad that I didn't because Singapore is working very well for me and my kids. I never use HIG because I can teach from the textbooks. Ds does WB and IP.
  14. I was so tempted to switch to MM when my son hit a block in Singapore. But we stuck through and he got it and I don't regret a bit.
  15. I was hoping you would chime in, Bill. I know your ds is too young yet to use 3A. But it is really cool. I love the interactive feature of it and ds8 needs some help with some of it and I just teach him right there without looking at the lesson plan. He did cm, m and litre and cl a few days before we started Singapore 3B and right now they line up with each other. MEP 3A will have multiplication a lot and it is great review for Singapore 3A to keep ds practice his times and division facts. I am really happy with this. J
  16. do you teach according to MEP lesson plan? I usually teach from Singapore primary math textbook without HIG, and then do the workbook. We add IP to follow up when one unit is done. I used to print the workpages from MEP for levels 1 and 2 for my two dc, but it is too much work and I stopped. But now since ds8 is starting Singapore 3B, I let him do MEP 1 page a day for "homework" right online. I give some help sometimes, but I don't teach from the lesson plan. I like it that I don't have to print any pages and I can pick some pages and don't do all the pages. Also the answer is right there after ds is done to check himself. Bill and others who use Singapore and MEP, do you teach both or do it like me? Thanks!
