  1. Yes. I don’t want to say much about it publicly because with other things I’ve posted it gets too close to personally identifiable, but feel free to send me a message.
  2. I feel awful for the people who will be on the jury. They need to hear detailed enough descriptions that it’s clear this isn’t “boys will be boys” or “every man’s problem” or “hey, who hasn’t looked at porn at some point and maybe some of the images were a little more hard-core than he expected.” And that is enough for nightmare fodder.
  3. The behavior was juvenile. The man is a creep. Creeps use juvenile sexual behavior in public because it has plausible deniability of being “not creepy” but it erodes boundaries and torments the target because if she objects then she’s overreacting and can’t take a joke. He’s getting his kick not by the friction of rubbing his private parts on someone but by exerting power to embarrass his targets (his wife and his daughter) in a sexually charged way.

I’m guessing this varies a lot. In our school district Algebra 1 in 6th is not uncommon, and the middle school has on-site math through geometry. Kids who finish geometry in 7th are video-conferenced to the high school for math in 8th.
  5. I have the Ring Fit. It’s pretty fun. Edit: and yes, other games are multi-player. When you look at buying a game check the info on the purchase page, it will tell you how many people and if you need extra controllers for multi-player. (It comes with two, but some games are two-handed so each player needs two.)
  6. Criminal defense tip: If law enforcement seizes your computer and doesn't give you a reason you should not causally ask if "someone" downloaded child porn onto it.
  7. I’ve seen excellent live productions, but everything I’ve found so far on streaming has been a snoozefest. Anybody have a favorite?
  8. Chicken wings. They've been hard to find for months.
  9. Repeating what multiple people have said. This is not a spiritual problem. This is a mental illness problem. It is highly unlikely your church elders are equipped to deal with this. Whatever you have to say to keep yourself safe, keep it straight in your own mind. It's not about your salvation, it's about his mental illness.
  10. Pap smears. Colonoscopies. Mammograms. Glucose Tolerance Tests. PSA screening. Bone density scans.
  11. Porn culture and Dugger/Gotherd culture aren’t opposite ends of a spectrum. They’re the same thing in different wrapping paper — the commodification of women’s sexuality controlled by and for the profit of a select group of men. Some women willingly participate and may even receive some benefit, but the systems as a whole are wildly exploitative and breeding grounds for abuse.
  12. I drove through Subway to pick up lunch today and the sign on the window said “We cannot accept a $50 bill for orders less than $30 or a $100 bill for orders less than $70.” Which makes sense to me . . . It’s not about rejecting the larger bills it’s about not wiping out their ability to make change.
  13. *checks level of surprise* wait . . . wait a minute . . . it must be around here somewhere . . . Nope. Undetectable.
  14. That sounds to me like she was surprised by the 100, made a comment, realized it sounded snarky and tried to backtrack. So I would file it as "we all say unthinking things sometimes" and let it go.
  15. I picked the duration of 24-48 hours for serious side effects, but that’s measuring from when I got the shot not when the effects started. They lasted less than 24 hours but didn’t start until 24 hours after the injection.
  16. I was thinking that if it replaced all the other trips it wouldn’t be adding. Pick her up in the morning, drive her home right before eye drop time.
  17. Would you mind having her with you during the day? When she calls in the morning your DH could say, “no, I have to work, but I could come get you and bring you to our house for the day so you won’t be alone.”
  18. Good for you! You are a public health heroine, along with everyone else who is afraid but does something to protect others. Sorry about the panic attack. I know someone who has them and they are scary.
  19. I wear Assets pantyhose which is spanx plus-size line. While they cost 4 times as much as regular pantyhose they last 20 times as long (or more) so they are definitely worth the price. I have found the size chart to be accurate - if you follow it they should be snug but not uncomfortable.

I have never gone wrong with Kenji Lopez-Alt's sous vide recipes. Two of our favorites: Pork Ribs (I use the 12 hour at 165 option) Brisket (We test tested both options with a group and the vote was 10-0 for the 36 hours at 135 option.)

Get your self a flat of wide-mouth 8 oz mason jars and you can make individual cheesecakes! And quiches! And creme brulee! For cheesecake mix 2 pounds softened cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 3 large eggs, 1 large egg yolk, Pour into jars. (Optional, have everyone put mix-ins like candy bits, nuts, dried fruit into their own jars first.) Don't fill more than 3/4 full Put on the jar lids and tighten them to "figure tip" tightness, just until they stop turning easily. You want air to be able to escape but water not to get in. Put them in the water bath and set your sous vide for 176 F. With jars you want to put them into warm water and let them come up to temp with the water bath to avoid thermal shock and broken jars. With bags you bring the water up to temp first and then put the bags in. Cook at 176 for two hours, remove and refrigerate for 4 hours. For quiche mix 3 eggs with 1 cup milk or cream (or a mixture). Put meats, veggies, cheese, herbs into jars (or have everyone put in their own toppings. Pour in egg mixture, again no more than 3/4 full. Sous vide at 172 for one hour. (Put the jars in while the water is no more than dish water warm and let them come up to temp with the water.)
  22. Homeschooling two middleschoolers. Not sure yet what our plan is for next year with oldest starting high school. Probably need to make a call on that pretty soon.
  23. Some liturgical churches ordain women. And don't think you need an ordained person in charge unless there are sacraments involved.
  24. I don’t think “the sermon centered idea of church” is as universal as the question seems to assume it is. I’ve never belonged to a church where that was the norm. I haven’t liked it when I’ve encountered it as a visitor, but I don’t feel like I can say “yes, it should change” because it’s not my church that would be changing.
  25. Dr Jen Gunter has written some about this. https://vajenda.substack.com/p/the-covid-19-vaccine-and-menstrual I found it fascinating, particularly the bit about the endometrium being tied into the immune system. Which makes sense given that it manages a massive bleeding wound every 28 days without a statistically significant rate of infection, but I’d never thought of it.
