  1. Nexcare acne dots for the teenagers. These things are amazing. You stick them on at bedtime and they act like little capillary sponges and pull all of the gross stuff out leaving nice flat skin behind. They even work for zits that haven’t surfaced yet.
  2. I think at this point I would be asking the school how they intended to make this up to my kid.
  3. Fear of public speaking is the most common phobia. There was a survey several years ago in which more people said they were afraid of public speaking than said they were afraid of death.
  4. Sure. A woman pastor for some. A mega-church pastor for others.
  5. To be a direct parallel with the Jew-Samaritan relationship the Samaritan would be from whatever branch of Christianity the Christians being addressed consider to be not-really-Christians and the priest and the Levite would be closely related to whatever leaders the particular audience follows.
  6. Asomatognosia is a condition where a person doesn’t recognize a limb as belonging to their body. It’s more dramatic than what you’re describing, though.
  7. So what? OP is not able to provide full time daycare even if DIL were dripping in gratitude.
  8. 1) Stop taking her Facebook posts personally. 2) She’s not wrong. She doesn’t have the kind of family support she needs to work outside the home without putting her son in daycare because you cannot provide that. The whole beginning of this thread was about how you cannot do that, and wanting to know how to communicate to them that you cannot do that. Now you’re mad that she didn’t ask you to do a thing that you’ve repeatedly said you physically cannot do?
  9. And he’s gone. Let go as producer of both Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
  10. Donut clips. For some reason the picture at that link looks like they’re using them on the outside of the cover, which is weird. Turn your cover inside out, lay the duvet on it, fasten the corners with the donuts, and turn it right-side out again. Your corners will be folded in a little, but it holds everything in place.
  11. It is a Pleasureway class B camper van. We call it the vanper. They’re had it for about 15 years now.
  12. There are people who don’t have trash cans in their bedroom?
  13. This is a “know thyself” thing. I have a place for them in the bathroom, but if I’m already in bed I know I will not get up and go put them away, I will take them out and set them on the nightstand. In the winter I often use lib balm on in the middle of the night. It gets very dry even with a humidifier running and my lips chap easily. If I wake up I take a sip of water and put on lip balm. Not going to get up and go down the hall to do that; it would make it harder to fall back to sleep quickly.
  14. My parents have a class B with four seats. When my boys were younger (smaller) they took them camping in it and they all loved it. In theirs the seats fold into two single beds and the table in the back folds down into a double bed. They mostly leave the back as a bed and just eat outside rather than using it as a table. The boys outgrew the seat beds around age ten. I would say that if you’re using it to travel and sleep, and do most of your recreation and eating outdoors the class B is fine for two adults and two non-adult-size children.
  15. I’m not really looking for suggestions to replace or deal with the things on my list, or decluttering advice. I asked what other people keep on theirs to see if there are things that would be good to add to my whitelist. So far I’m thinking hand lotion, lip balm, and a flashlight, but all of those could probably go in the top drawer if I put in a divider that would keep them easy to grab and not mixed in with the other stuff stored there (it’s a big drawer).
  16. Those are cute. If I decide I want to move the charging station I’ll keep them in mind.
  17. That would be counterproductive. I'd need to have extra packets for when I run out and I can easily go through one in one night if I'm having a bad allergy day. Plus when they get low they look like empty plastic wrappers, and that would attract other wrappers that should go directly into the trash. It's not that I don't have space, I just don't want the space to become a pile (again) where missing papers and doodads go to die.
  18. On top, not in drawers. I just cleaned mine off, and there was so much crap that clearly doesn’t belong. I’m trying to make a hard list of what is allowed to be there to avoid the slippery slope of things piling up. Currently present: Sunrise lamp/clock Box of tissues Charging station for Kindle/phone/tablet. Insulated water glass Reading glasses I could move the charging station, but I’d need a cord for the Kindle because I need to be able to read at bedtime even if it isn’t fully charged, and if I don’t have the station the cord falls down behind the nightstand and I have to fish it out. So I think it’s better to keep the station. I’m contemplating a dish of some sort for hairpins and earrings, because if I forget to take them out before I get in bed I know I’ll put them there whether there’s a dish or not, and then they get pushed off or pile up. I had about a hundred hairpins under all the other crap I just sorted, and I’ll probably find a thousand more when I get around to cleaning under and behind this furniture item.
  19. Me too. I think it’s the not knowing. Our current wave looks like it might be peaking. But schools don’t even start for another ten days. I don’t know if we should be relaxing or hunkering down. I could do another year like last year, if I knew that’s what was going to be needed. But I don’t know!
  20. If you have a way to hang them outdoors in the sunshine for several hours that will help a lot.
  21. If they went to masking they'd have to admit that masks are effective and not a liberal plot to condition the populace to compliance and eventually turn us communist.
  22. I started my PhD classes at age 36 with a 2 year old and a 2 month old. I had a lot of family support. I got some free lunches out of the deal because the admissions office sent me to lunch with prospective students who were worried about balancing family and coursework. Also you can sing anything, including Heidegger’s Being and Time to the tune of “Piano Lesson” from The Music Man.
  23. I got them because I like my bamboo socks! Mine are not quite a year old, but no pilling yet.
  24. We bought bamboo sheets recently and I really like them.
