  1. Last summer, I was the one wanting a puppy and talked dh into it. After picking him out and bringing our little fellow home, I have to admit, that even though it was my idea, I was scared too! There were a few days I wondered what I was thinking buying a puppy!!!! After we had had him a week, I couldn't find him in my fenced in back yard. I panicked thinking he had found a hole and escaped. I was nearly in tears. Then we found him sound asleep under our shed. I realized then, that I was in love, forever bonded to him!! Now he is a year old and I can't imagine life without him. I also can't imagine him being small enough to fit under that shed!!! Anyway, enjoy your new pup!
  2. Cute!! I love it! It would be hilarious to go riding around the neighborhood as a family in one of those!!!
  3. How was the book fair?? I was interested, but we have piano on Mondays and had some men here cutting down a big tree in our yard, another man came over to talk prices about a privacy fence, blah, blah, blah! Did many people show? I was going to put together a park day for Thursday, but it looks like more storms are moving in! Oh, I'm not much in the decluttering mood!:tongue_smilie: It's more of a necessity! I'm really just wanting to do something creative.....or anything but what I should be doing! So, you won't take any sort of break? I do the 6 weeks on, 1 week off schedule and that worked really well for us this year. So, I won't have a long summer in order to have the available weeks off during the year. That schedule helps me to avoid burn-out. However, this semester was messed up because we took a vacation in Jan. and then took spring break when the public kids did because my oldest took a baby sitting class at the hospital. So, it's been a while since I've had my week off and I can tell that I'm starting to procrastinate on doing school! Hence the reason I'm sitting here now.;) But, I'm off to school......:seeya:
  4. :grouphug: Hey girl! I hope you have a better day today!! Will you be finishing school soon? We've only got two weeks here and I'm counting down the days! I'm sure we will do a little in the summer though. I'm just ready to have some free time to paint, declutter my house, and get some stuff organized! Talk to you soon!
  5. So weird you ask, but YES, I've been unusually sleepy today. I feel exhausted and have snacked all day just trying to keep going! It's really not like me to feel this drowsy. I just blamed it on "the time of the month" and the fact that I've been training for a 5k (sore muscles today).
  6. :grouphug: I'm so sorry for your loss! 19 years is such a long time to be together. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you.
  7. I was breastfed for about 3 months. I exclusively nursed all four of mine.......sweetest days of my life!:001_smile:
  8. That's awesome (for you both!!)! And your time is really, really great! Did you place in your age group?
  9. from cafepress.com? A friend of mine saw a little girl at church Sunday wearing a shirt that said something about "Warning, this is an unsocialized homeschooled child" or something like that. She said you could tell the little girl was full of personality. Even though my friend's kids are in public school, she still thought the shirt was cute! I have no idea where that particular shirt can be found, but I started googling and found this site. They have lots of funny sayings like, "Yes, I'm homeschooled. I'll try and use small words." Some of them could be offensive I'm sure, but I got a kick out of them. There's even one for mom that says, "Yes, my hands are full, but so is my heart." Anyway, just thought I would share.
  10. Oh, I love kitchen appliances! Of course, I love my Kitchen Aid mixer, but my favorite every day used appliance is my Keurig coffee maker. It was a gift from my mom and I appreciate it every time I want to quick cup of coffee. I don't drink more than a cup a day, so it's just perfect for my family! I also recently bought a wood cutting board from Bed Bath and Beyond. It is some one-of-a-kind type wood and I think it's just so pretty. I didn't "need" it per say because I have other boards, but it makes me happy each time I use it! Oh, and my mom also gave me Le Creuset red pot and though I wouldn't have spent the money to have bought it for myself, I do thoroughly enjoying using it. I'm easily swayed by kitchen gadgets and appliances that I've seen the professionals use on TV!
  11. I have a friend that had two sections (with her first two boys) and with her third was able to deliver vaginally. With that one, she had a doctor that very much supported vbacs. I think now, it's becoming such a liability with insurance companies. Best of luck to you. I know how disappointing it can be when your birth plans don't go as planned (and I too have had a c-section). I had to remind myself that the important thing was that he was healthy.
  12. We liked it OK the first year (the computer version was pretty good), but I didn't care for the 2nd level using the books and audio cd's. We would be looking at the little black and white sketch and not have any idea what the picture was. I didn't fully understand the program either and just didn't get into it. We tried the second level for half the year and gave up. We ordered Rosetta Stone and we've liked that much better. I like having a real picture to look at instead of a cartoon sketch and the quality just feels better to me. But that's just my 2 cents! Good luck!
  13. Well, I ordered three things from them last fall. The denim jacket ran way big and was returned for a small (I wore a medium normally) but even the small was a little big. I didn't want to spend any more returning that so I kept it and eventually sold it at consignment. The white dress shirt ran big too. And the dressy pant outfit that I ordered in small after the other things being too big, was too small and a button loop at the back of the neck broke the first time I tried it on. I sure like the way their clothes look in the catalog, but I won't be bothering with them any more. I struck out three times. I hope you have better luck than me. I just hate having to return clothes through the mail, so I stick to actual shopping when it comes to my wardrobe. I wish I had one of their stores nearby!
  14. Y'all are too funny! I knew that would generate some raised eyebrows!! Ok, thanks again for the feedback. I have good veins (at least that's what they tell me when they draw blood), so I don't worry about that. I'm not afraid of needles, so that's a plus. But my blood pressure does tend to be a bit low and I battle low blood sugar some days. But, I'm taking my vitamins and will eat a good breakfast, drink lots of water, and will take it easy! I will be going between May 14-19 with my hubby to donate. Hopefully, I'll feel completely fine. I'll let y'all know!:001_smile:
  15. Wow! Bless his heart! Well, I guess I'll never know how I'll do until I try........ Thanks for sharing your story!
  16. Again, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I was a little worried about venting here for the remote possibility she would see my picture (though she has told me that she doesn't visit here) and know I was saying this instead of telling her directly. It's really helped get my head around the problem.....which is my problem. And some of you are so right in that I'm the one that has set this up in this way by saying yes at times instead of being able to be firm in my convictions. I should never flip-flop. I really dislike this about myself and do want to change that. It's ridiculous that I've never learned to communicate to others in situations like this. I wish I could look her in the eye and be firm but I'll be a tongue tied mess. I'll be praying about it. Thank you all again. :grouphug:
  17. Well, if you can do it, surely I can!:001_smile: I'm a little worried about the fainting though. I have nearly fainted several times because of pain (like with my c-section while at the hospital when they made me get up and shower!) and I do get light headed sometimes when I've been pulling weeds or something and get up too fast. So, I may just tell them to leave me in the chair a while!
  18. I have an elementary education degree and I didn't learn the first thing about teaching reading. Nothing, nadda. What I've learned about reading if from teaching my own children how to read.
  19. I agree with Tracy. Diced onion is yummy on pinto beans! I'm getting hungry.
  20. Hey Girl! I'm totally a non-fiction gal myself!! This week when I went to the library, I checked out Queen Bees and Wannabees, Siblings Without Rivalry, and some gardening book (all recommendations I got from the HIVE!). I was in heaven!:001_smile: The only fiction I get is with my girls' Sonlight read-alouds. I love them and don't know why I don't venture into fiction myself, but I'm just drawn to books that teach me something. Have a wonderful trip!!!:auto:
