  1. How is your dd doing with Core 5? Is it difficult for her? Just curious if my dd would be able to handle it next year for 6th. tx lisa
  2. I would drop it. You can continue to use the EEL as a supplement (that's what I do). How is he doing with IEW writing? Do you feel you need the structure of the class to have him continue to learn and grow in grammar and writing? I tutored Essentials and had a daughter in it. Although I still use the EEL, I also continue with R&S. We stopped using IEW, so the benefit vs time factor to me didn't add up. I think Essentials is a service for families that desire it, but I would not consider it in any way essential for higher level classes, Challenge or otherwise. It is but one way to study grammar and writing, but you may find your time better utilized covering it yourself. Blessings, Lisa
  3. I know, very exciting! The history cards and new audio won't be ready until mid march, though, so you have time to save;) I'm excited about having a history song to cover the new cards. Lisa

  5. I signed up a large group and their service was wonderful:001_smile: Lisa
  6. Hi! Just wondering how this is going for you? Are you happy with it? I'm considering and would love your opinions. Lisa
  7. I don't think you meant to say I intransitive, but linking? Intransitive would be an action verb. Lisa
  8. http://www.essentialsinwriting.com/ I just received grade 6. Don't have time now, but will post my impressions later. I do like what I see, though. There are reviews on the board somewhere, also. Lisa
  9. I received this as well and wonder if it's legit. Supposedly every time someone clicks on the link and enters their email address you get an additional $5 coupon. Sounds fishy. Lisa
  10. Except for skipping over the grammar review, we'll be using this as our primary writing. Lisa
  11. And it looks fantastic. I'm looking forward to starting something different (we're taking a break from CW). I'll write a more detailed review when we get further into it, but I like what I see so far. Lisa
  12. I'm not asking for approval. You are asking why we are not "disgusted" by her behavior, and I'm explaining why I am not.
  13. Righteous indignation, anyone? You have no clue what her life was like for those nine years. You can throw stones and live with the certainty that you would act so much more nobly than her, but I choose to allow for more grace with the understanding that I have not been so unfortunate in my life. Lisa
  14. Ooh, fun, we're being all cryptic:001_smile: Nobody is saying he/him/the man/the ex-husband does not have an identity. He is a disabled man whose life has changed but is still surrounded by people he loves who remain an integral part of his life. He is not some sad, forgotten soul who has been abandoned. Lisa
  15. Nine long years passed between numbers 1 and 2. You can't possibly reduce their life and journey so simply. Scarlett, you may be gobsmacked that others don't agree with your perception; I'm equally gobsmacked that others can take their lives and heartache and reduce it to something so black and white. Lisa
  16. Does anyone have suggestions on websites, whether paid subscription or not, that has book summary, discussion questions, etc? I used to use a free one, but I can't remember the name and can't seem to find it. I'd be willing to pay for a subscription. I'm not keeping up with dd14s reading so I want to have a tool to allow me to have book discussion with her. thanks, lisa
