  1. Here there are no restrictions on adult drivers.
  2. It's completely normal for kids to drive themselves to prom if they don't get a limo. I've never heard of anyone taking a bus to prom.
  3. I've never heard of anyone doing that. A 5th/6th/7th year in high school is usually only for children/young adults with severe delays.
  4. He could take 20 mg of Pepcid on top of the Omeprazole.
  5. Maybe he is just very, very faithful and knows that God will provide?
  6. I would assume his car is now her car...and they will figure out how to share. Nothing we've read so far indicates he is controlling or abusive to her.
  7. That might actually be a good thing. They can focus on their relationship, and being grown ups, and not be so dependent on her parents.
  8. Did they get an apartment? That's great!
  9. None of the choices - I usually won't try it.
  10. Your experience, of course, isn't everyone. I'm glad you're doing better now. I think it could also be argued that if you didn't want to die, perhaps it wasn't really a suicide attempt.
  11. Suicide attempts are made out of desperation; they aren't done as a tantrum, unless there are underlying mental health issues. Suicide threats are a different ballgame, and I didn't say anything about those at all.
  12. This was a pretty rude response. Suicide attempts are not the same as self harm, even unintentionally 'serious' self harm. I'm going to back out of this thread now, but I can tell you that there is nothing simplistic about my knowledge of teen suicide, or self harm.
  13. This. Suicide attempts are a sign of desperation. DESPAIR. Children are not going to make suicide attempts as a tantrum - they are going to do it because they are so desperately sad they want to die.
  14. It does mean to feel the spirit of others (mood, etc) but I don't think it has anything to do with the dead. It's a terrible burden in a lot of ways.
  15. I'm not big on infantilizing adults really, so I don't have an issue with young marriage. Lots of people start out with nothing, and build great things together.
  16. Interesting - Apostle Paul is quoted as using that terminology in the JW bible, but not really anywhere else. Since people routinely married as very young teens during biblical times, I don't think this is referring to people who are (a few short months from) legal adults.
  17. Does the girl have a job?
  18. That makes me feel really sad. The couple definitely will need support. I can't imagine that no one in this couples' church feels compelled to show them church family love and be there for them?!
  19. Charges of hypocrisy? I haven't ever heard of such a thing...I feel like I live in a very different world!
  20. That would require public shaming? Nope.
  21. I'm honestly trying to understand. If someone is having premarital sex (which shouldn't really be public knowledge anyway IMO) Scarlett said they would be prevent from practicing traditional JW rituals. I want to understand what other things would have the same consequence; it seems odd that that would be the one major thing that would cause public shame.
  22. Can you elaborate on what other sins would be considered "living a double life" or would get you removed from the list of people who can knock on doors?
  23. It just seems that you put a lot of emphasis on premarital sex as being a major sin, but less for other things. Maybe that's just how JW religion is; there are a lot of things a lot worse.
