  1. True, it wont be as fast as weโ€™d like (we all wanted this โ€œyesterdayโ€ ๐Ÿ™‚ ) but less than a year ago, some scientists were saying we could never make a vaccine for this โ€” and here we are! So, moving in the right direction. Itโ€™ll take some time for sure but will be interesting to watch as it happens. If we can roll out a quick, cheap test and treatments, that would help, too. Crossing fingers!
  2. 3 grams of chicory root is almost one teaspoon so not a huge amount but if you're not used to it, that could be too much. Starting with a pinch of chicory root powder and then slowly moving up might work better. Maybe itโ€™s triggering something else as well. Hmmm...
  3. Wow. Thatโ€™s really not a huge amount, maybe 3-4 grams, but it helped her. Very interesting. I do suspect the microbiome plays a huge role in weight.
  4. Another Vitamin D article. https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/12/12/3642 Vitamin D Insufficiency May Account for Almost Nine of Ten COVID-19 Deaths: Time to Act. Comment on: โ€œVitamin D Deficiency and Outcome of COVID-19 Patientsโ€. Evidence from observational studies is accumulating, suggesting that the majority of deaths due to SARS-CoV-2 infections are statistically attributable to vitamin D insufficiency and could potentially be prevented by vitamin D supplementation. Given the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic, rational vitamin D supplementation whose safety has been proven in an extensive body of research should be promoted and initiated to limit the toll of the pandemic even before the final proof of efficacy in preventing COVID-19 deaths by randomized trials.
  5. Let us know if the biofilm treatment helps. It looks interesting. Whatโ€™s up with your ears?
  6. The biofilm treatment sounds interesting. Together with the anti-viral, it could be very helpful. Is it the one that has black cumin seed? If so, black cumin seed might also help with Covid recovery. Itโ€™s an old-timey treatment in some parts of the world. Does magnesium help at all with your muscle locking and convulsions?
  7. Pfizerโ€™s vaccines are already prepositioned at distribution sites. If approved (likely), they will begin moving the vaccines to administration sites where the first of two doses will be given soon after approval. They have also been practicing their rollout, even making YouTube videos: https://www.fiercepharma.com/manufacturing/first-pfizer-doses-from-belgium-touch-down-at-o-hare-international-report The drugmaker has also been running โ€œdry rehearsalsโ€ of its rollout scheme at more than 50 distribution sites across the U.S. The dry runs include taking the sites through the process of receiving the vaccines, opening them and administering them; plus, Pfizer has even created YouTube videos for staffers to consult during the process. The process is โ€œvery, very doable,โ€ Operation Warp Speed's Gen. Gustave Perna said last week. Perna added that the rehearsals had boosted confidence among administration sites. Pfizer and BioNTech recently filed their shot for emergency use authorization in the U.S. after late-phase data showed the vaccine was 95% effective in phase 3. The mRNA-based vaccine is set to go before the FDA's independent vaccines advisory committee and the Centers for Disease Control's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on Dec. 10, Warp Speed chief Moncef Slaoui said last week. Those reviews will take place "in parallel" so that the CDC can almost immediately defer to ACIP on how to distribute and allocate authorized doses, Slaoui said. Meanwhile, the government aims to start shipping doses to distributors within 24 hours of a positive decision, with vaccinations slated to take place as quickly as 48 hours after an authorization, Slaoui said. ***** Moderna is looking good, too. RNA vaccines are supposedly not easy to make so ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ to those who worked on solving that. Novavax is rumored to be pretty impressive as well, but weโ€™ll have to wait to hear more.
  8. My son found his kitten gagging with about 7" of shoe lace in his mouth the other day. He has to lock all of his shoes in the closet. Can't leave any strings out whatsoever. Your kitten looks like Baby Yoda in that photo, btw!
  9. You should always start with small amounts of prebiotics and then slowly increase. People not accustomed to eating a lot of inulin have horrible experiences eating large portions of Jerusalem artichokes, sunchokes, which are also good sources of inulin. Once your body gets used to it, you can increase. ETA: This is what I buy. It looks like they might be out of it at Amazon but you should be able to buy something similar. Just make sure it's 100% chicory root. 1 scoop = 3.3 grams. @Jean in Newcastle, how much chicory root does the person in your group take per day? 10 grams? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RV4F3CR
  10. I make a Christmas playlist every year. Some are not technically Christmas songs but fit the spirit of the season. My (many!) favorites so far: Santa Lucia / Valens Solistensemble Va, Pensiero / Russell Watson I'll Be Home for Christmas / Russell Watson You're All I Want for Christmas / Caro Emerald and Brook Benton Mele Kalikimaka / Kacey Musgraves Jingle Bells / Cumberland Gap Reunion Jingle Bells / Ella Fitzgerald Silver Bells / Dwight Yoakam Beautiful Star of Bethlehem / Ralph Stanley Run Rudolph Run / CeeLo Green Silent Night / The Temptations White Winter Hymnal / Pentatonix (very dark and perhaps not Christmas-y!) Purple Snowflakes / Weeping Willows Someday at Christmas / Weeping Willows Pretty Paper / Weeping Willows First of May / Sarah Brightman Mary's Boy Child - Oh, My Lord / Boney M. Snowfall / Manhattan Transfer Christmas / Leslie Odom My Favorite Things / Leslie Odom Snow / Leslie Odom Little Drummer Boy / Anthony Hamilton Little Drummer Boy / Harry Simeone Chorale Schedryk / Pink Martini Joy to the World / Cimorelli The Holly and the Ivy / Mediaeval Baebes O Holy Night / Trans-Siberian Orchestra Carol of the Bells / Straight No Chaser O Tannenbaum / Evandro Olivah 2,000 Miles / Mark Kozelek Snowman / Sia Walking In the Air / Sang Froid Let It Be Christmas / Alan Jackson I Believe in Father Christmas / Emerson, Lake and Palmer Merry Christmas / Carpenters
  11. Chicory root powder is high in inulin which is a prebiotic that helps the good gut bacteria flourish. Most people don't get much in their diets. Yes, it does help the gut biome and is being studied as a treatment for obesity. Here's a beefy but informative article: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30875987/ My morning routine includes a scoop of chicory root powder along with d-ribose powder. Neither for weight issues. Chicory root powder to help feed the good bacteria in my gut. D-ribose for ATP production (cellular "fuel"). The chicory root powder tastes a bit sweet and has a texture almost like powdered cotton candy. D-ribose is also sweet. I mix both in water and drink it.
  12. He has such beautiful coloring. โค๏ธ My sonโ€™s catโ€™s absolute favorite toy is a stick with cotton string that they try to catch when we flick it around them. I have to hide it, though, because the younger cat eats anything string like.
  13. If you want more research, this website might be a good place to start. Iโ€™m linking older information but the site has a bit more if you're interested. http://orthomolecular.org/library/jom/1997/articles/1997-v12n02-p096.shtml An MD who tested and treated this in the US is Hugh Riordan (passed away). His work might be online. No doubt heโ€™ll be called a quack but if the symptoms seem to fit and the treatment isn't dangerous, might as well give it a try.
  14. Lozenges would be slightly better because the zinc would be in the vicinity of your nose and mouth where the virus will likely enter. Zinc is an antimicrobial and also helps prevent viral replication. Life Extensionโ€™s enhanced zinc lozenges are supposed to be good. If you tolerate a pill better, just take that. Zinc picolinate is a good choice.
  15. Murder Hornets are awful. Have you heard if there are any other nests out there? My nephew wants to raise honeybees up near Glacier National Park but he's concerned about the hornets. Yikes.
  16. We're having salad, kabobs and cheese and chocolate fondue for Thanksgiving. All bought. I will probably roast some broccoli and potatoes in the oven, though, just to have more food to soak up the dips.
  17. Anyone noticed the shortage of glass items? I have not been able to buy my favorite glass pitchers at either Ikea or Target for months now. Same with Pyrex glass containers, like my favorite rectangular ones. So, I thought I'd check out the beer sections in different stores and even they seem to have smaller inventories of glass bottles. Hmmm. Is the glass going toward vaccine vials, I wonder?
  18. I suppose it's a step in the right direction but that is still on the pricey side and difficult to get if it involves a prescription. I agree that a diy test likely will be less accurate, too.
  19. Seriously. It's just niacin. On the long-haulers board I follow, people who' had post Covid symptoms for many months said that by days 2 or 3 after taking the niacin they felt back to normal. Definitely worth a try.
  20. My mom used to do this for herself. She was so thrilled when she'd open a forgotten present for herself. We also bought her things but probably missed the mark a bit. To make it easy on my husband and kids, I put together a list that tells them what I like, how much it costs and where to get it. It's "My Favorite Things" list. To make it even easier, I created a board on Pinterest so they'd have easy access. It works, I'm happy, they're happy, and that is all that matters to us. ๐Ÿ˜„
  21. One of my friends is not at all into food. She doesn't think it's worth spending any more money than necessary on food when she can instead spend it on clothes or jewelry. She's definitely more into fashion than food. I am just the opposite although I do like nice clothing, too. Just not as much as food. ๐Ÿ˜„
  22. After the pandemic began when little was known about the virus, I made my own liposomal vitamin C mixture. It's pretty easy. Takes about a day because you have to mix it every two hours or so in a blender until it gets good and gloppy. It's basically ascorbic acid, lecithin, distilled water and vodka. ๐Ÿ™‚ However, a gram or so 2 or 3 times per day of regular old vitamin C should be okay. China is giving patients high doses of IV C. We won't do that here in the US. I don't know why. It has been shown to help prevent cytokine storm in two studies, one done using adults, the other with children.
  23. Pfizer's vaccine might be able to handle similar temps. That's what I've read but it's not known for sure. Fingers crossed. I completely understand what you're saying about Moderna and agree. This is not the time to be money grubbers. And, IMO, vaccines should be free for anyone who wants one. It's really in the best interest of the economy and is, of course, morally the right thing to do. It is very exciting that a vaccine has been developed using this newish technology and that it works against a coronavirus. That's great news. I do think if AZ is even 70-85%, it should still bode well. Hoping it will be even better, though. I heard they are supposed to reveal their data in a journal soon but I'm not sure. Have you heard anymore about the in-home Covid test? Is it Abbott's BinaxNow test? I haven't had much time to check and am wondering how good it is. Anyone know?
  24. Huzzah! Pfizer/BioNTech just reached their Phase 3 endpoints. Considering how rampant Covid is now, itโ€™s not all that surprising. (If anyone is wondering, they will continue to gather and analyze data for quite awhile.) Efficacy in adults over 65 was 94%. That is fantastic! https://investors.pfizer.com/investor-news/press-release-details/2020/Pfizer-and-BioNTech-Conclude-Phase-3-Study-of-COVID-19-Vaccine-Candidate-Meeting-All-Primary-Efficacy-Endpoints/default.aspx PFIZER AND BIONTECH CONCLUDE PHASE 3 STUDY OF COVID-19 VACCINE CANDIDATE, MEETING ALL PRIMARY EFFICACY ENDPOINTS November 18, 2020 Primary efficacy analysis demonstrates BNT162b2 to be 95% effective against COVID-19 beginning 28 days after the first dose;170 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were evaluated, with 162 observed in the placebo group versus 8 in the vaccine group Efficacy was consistent across age, gender, race and ethnicity demographics; observed efficacy in adults over 65 years of age was over 94% Safety data milestone required by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) has been achieved Data demonstrate vaccine was well tolerated across all populations with over 43,000 participants enrolled; no serious safety concerns observed; the only Grade 3 adverse event greater than 2% in frequency was fatigue at 3.8% and headache at 2.0% Companies plan to submit within days to the FDA for EUA and share data with other regulatory agencies around the globe The companies expect to produce globally up to 50 million vaccine doses in 2020 and up to 1.3 billion doses by the end of 2021 Pfizer is confident in its vast experience, expertise and existing cold-chain infrastructure to distribute the vaccine around the world
  25. The long haulers who have had success with this notice their brain fog, sleepiness, fatigue, etc. abate or go away completely within a couple of days, especially after taking the nicotinic acid. You might have trouble finding 50 gram supplements but 100 mg seems to not cause problems. Some people have been dividing their supplements to get the smaller dose. Get a quercetin supplement that also has bromelain; however, if you have either a history of ulcers or are allergic to pineapple, take only quercetin. I take the Now brand of both, just one capsule. Selenium, no more than 200 mcg. Zinc, around 50 mg.
