I usually include what you've already listed plus some or more of the following:
Grapes-an easy food to pack since they don't have to be peeled
Grape or cherry tomatoes
Gogurt-I freeze these overnight, then pack them in with the drinks. They thaw out a little but stay nice and cold.
So, yes, I allow it!:)
They do it quite often in fact.
They use Bibles, songbooks, the whole 9 yards.
Sometimes they play VBS too and have a great time with it.
Just got finished in fact. We started at 9:30 and finished up around 1:45. We did not have a full day for the first day.
Let's say it was an up and down sort of day.
I just blogged about our first day, link is under my signature.
When we were naming our homeschool I wanted something that reflected our Christian beliefs. I was inspired by a poster we have that includes the many names of Jesus. Since you are Christian and the Bible is a big part of your lives maybe something along those lines would work.
Some of the ones I loved were:
True Vine (maybe True Vine Classical Academy)
Morning Star (Morning Star Academy or Morning Star Classical Academy)
Dayspring (I Love this one) Dayspring Christian Academy or Dayspring Classical Academy, you get the idea.
Shiloh Classical Academy
We chose Living Water Christian Academy which I like very much.
Just some ideas to get the wheels turning! :)
I hope you find something you love. Let us know.
Bloggers have a choice of adding adsense to their blogs. It is suppose to run relevant ads according to the posts that you make. It is free to run (I think.)I don't have it on mine so I am no totally sure.
Okay-that is suppose to say think in the title, it won't let me edit!
Re-edited because now I know how to do it!!
I think ideas like that really spark their interest and it makes the little ones feel "bigger".
It sounds like you put a lot of thought and time into them and I am sure they're great-they sound really cute too.
Sounds like you're ready for school!!

I have included a photo of my daughter's prize winning History Fair project on Hippocrates. :)
I look forward to "visiting" the other Weekly Reporters this week-end.

Lesson 107 of A Beka 2. He has covered borrowing and carrying, adding and subtracting in the thousands, linear and liquid measurements, money problems, Roman numerals, and multiplication. He is very much enjoying multiplication (thinks it is fun!)
Late Spring 2008 is what I read recently on the Mystery of History site. We'll be using MOH 2 this coming year. Hopefully, MOH 3 will be out before you need it. :)
While I've not yet used the upper levels of LLATL, we're currently using 5th grade (purple) level. I have not found it to be very teacher intensive thus far. There are times I need to dictate a passage to dd but usually other than that she does it independently. She is strong on grammar also, so I think that helps. Hope I helped a little. :)
