  1. So, even though I can't order this stuff, I'm curious... since they do plus and maternity, do they do talls, too? Because you know what would be really great? Wearing a knee length dress as a knee length dress instead of a tunic, or having long sleeves that reach my wrists instead of always have to push them up and pretend they're 3/4 length.
  2. Would you post what they sent for plus sizes? I wear between a 14-18 depending on what my health is doing and who made the garment.
  3. I agree. I would hope that my loved ones will honour my very clear and specific wishes that no funeral be held at all. I find even the "nicest" funerals to be hypocritical farces at best and my loved ones know that. They also know that if they had anything to say to me, it won't matter one twittle when I'm gone. But, you know... if they'd even have me and if my dh wanted to go full on Catholic mass all over my carcass, then I can't do a thing about it. Good luck with that. I'll bear no responsibility for any spontaneous combustion that occurs. Sadly, I'll also miss out on the delicious schadenfreude that would go along with that. But, hey.... have at 'er if you must.
  4. I agree with this 100%. I, too, am a make-up person, but I also believe that you should present yourself with integrity. If you do not wear make-up, don't wear it to the interview. I do feel that, for interview purposes, you should consider dressing just a bit better than the job you are applying for requires as a wardrobe standard. Neat, clean and pulled together are really all you need here. The outfit you described sounds appropriate. Go with that and your best smile. Good luck! :)
  5. I guess maybe we do? Sunday is my catch up day where I catch up on cleaning and food. I bake baguettes every Sunday and make a soup for the week. So Sunday night is always soup and baguettes with cheese and fruit. I don't know if that's a traditional thing or just a habit. ETA: Family dinners are our daily norm for practical purposes.
  6. Okay. Now you're just outright luring me with that candy, aren't you? ;)
  7. I just looked up the booties. Oh. My. Yes! Girl, you are keeping those! They're so cute! They'd go great with black jeans and top and that burgundy cardigan. Or, if it were me, I'd do dark blue skinny jeans, a camel coloured turtleneck shirt, and that burgundy cardigan, then throw a chunky knit scarf on over that and a handbag in a bronze metallic.
  8. Just some things to consider about the boots... Olive is a neutral and looks very chic with black, grey and burgundy. It also looks great with lighter navy colours and any shade of blue jeans. Olive and forest green are super hot trends in footwear for this fall. A sophisticated, but unexpected shoe colour makes your outfit look much more modern and chic than the usual black or browns.
  9. Yes, they're ugly. Fugly, even. No, I wouldn't buy or wear them.
  10. We have very long, very harsh winters. Every year, I stock up on sanity. Every year, I run short.
  11. I voted. It never occurred to me that caramels could be any flavour but caramel flavoured. This has opened my eyes! All of the flavours sound amazing and so creative! But, of all of them, I truly would prefer the apple spice one. I love that kind of flavour. I bet it would smell awesome, too.
  12. They also have universal health care, paid parental leave, financial child supports, and free vocational and university education. You're never going to get all of that, and without it, the ability to allow children the "luxury" of their own childhood is simply not there. They're also willing, as a society, to put mental well-being above monetary gain. The bulk of North American society measures self-worth by dollars. Making that shift in mentality has about as much chance of success as me hopping on a tiger and flying it to the moon and back.
  13. At the extreme end -- where education at all levels was privatized completely and without any financial input from governments -- the probability of large numbers of people going entirely without education is very high. Some families who cannot afford to pay for education might be able to provide some education at home. Many, however, would not be able to do that, though, and then there are the children without family supports at all who would be entirely without education as well. Likely, education would return to a state somewhat similar to what is was prior to compulsory public funded education. I.e. the largest proportion of society would be barely literate or illiterate, and only the elite/wealthy and those who are able to find a way to pay for it will access education. The residual effect of something like this would be that society, as a whole, would lack the intellect and capacity to generate innovation and progress, and an inability to maintain current infrastructures, let alone create or advance them. Infrastructure would begin to decay and eventually the illiteracy, poverty and crumbling infrastructure would push the country into a 3rd world state. At the milder end -- where vouchers are used to access schools of choice -- the probability of continuing the advance of the already fractious practices of institutionalized racism and classism is somewhere around 100%.
  14. I wish I could! Alas, my talents do not include making an edible pie crust. I have tried. It's just not meant to be.
  15. I love grape jelly but cannot grow grapes here. And, I have a rule that I don't make preserves from something unless it came out of my garden. It wouldn't be economical to buy the fruit (IMO, YMMV).
  16. If you have an "other" could you post it? I just made the poll of jams I'm actually making this weekend. But, I love to know what other people like, so please share?
  17. I am making jams this weekend. The poll are most of the types of jam I'm making. Just for fun, which one would you most prefer? If I didn't list your fave jam, what is that? I'm also making Saskatoon jam and gooseberry jam, but most people won't know those, so I left them out. However, if you know Saskatoons and gooseberries and they happen to be your favourite, please do shout out. :D
  18. I agree 100%, and this needs to be re-posted.
  19. Yes, but it begs the question... if this is what this bully acts like knowing the cameras are ON, how does he act when he knows the cameras are OFF?
  20. I was going to say she's gaslighting you, too. If you didn't recognize it as such, it's probably because she's been doing that to you a lot and it feels like a "normal" response. But it isn't. Not at all. I know you are having issues with your daughter, but in general, if a kid doesn't want to be around a particular adult, it's because they have a genuine reason -- which could be a lot of things. Your daughter is probably being defensive because she feels she needs to be. The adult in question, however, is being a manipulative, vindictive ass to both you and your daughter. For the sake of both of you, shut that bitch down now.
  21. Oh wow. That's really awful. I can't even imagine.
  22. I think you just know it. If you're still asking questions and debating it, you're probably not really, mentally done. For me, it was one and done. Same for dh. It was just never a thought or a point of discussion again after that. No regrets either, and he's all grown up now. :)
  23. Any non-xtian who ever came from even a mildy xtian background knows that prosperity gospel is about as close to heresy as it gets.
