  1. I am using them with a 4th & 7th grader- as a read aloud. My 7th would be fine alone but we are doing it together. My kids have seen a lot of the sites hands on, sot hat helps:)
  2. I can't believe that this continues to resurrect itself- But I am glad to know SWB is watching her flock!:)
  3. http://web.mac.com/nhdraper/Site_7/Blog/Entries/2008/2/10_Less_is_more-_Ramblings!.html I just posted the link above to my whole ramblings on about reflection- So check it out, I can't bear to write it again! :)
  4. I think that is great- I secretly peak at all of the material too..often I find that PS is doing way more than I give them credit for:eek:
  5. Lets rephrase- Loaded question , not pocket book-- tee hee!
  6. I am thinking of making a switch from Saxon to Singapore- Have their been any of you who would like to share your experience in doing this? At what age, did you make the switch? Why did you decide to make the switch? Have you seen any benefits from doing so? Would you consider the lesson time to be shorter? I am working with a 7th grader and a 4th grader- Potentially looking to switch the 10 year old next year.
  7. What is your long-term goal for homeschooling? Do you plan on going through high school? At what point will you determine when to consider making a change? We are on a year to year basis, but I realize now more than ever that I would like to continue through high school.
  8. what are you using for character education? How are you teaching it and is it formal or worked into life skills?
  9. I speak Japanese and I am going to use the BYU online program for my dd net year 8th grade and modify it for my 5th grader. The most important beginning learning will be katakana and hiragana and greetings, country and food. I used to teach college Japanese and it is a slow process- the best thing is to pick up move there LOL;)
  10. SWB- Thanks for posting- I am coming to Williamsburg in April for a field study with my two oldest. I would love to sit down and talk about the 4 year cycle! I really like the fact that you are reading the boards. ;)
  11. This is why I guess I really love Write Source- it is all inclusive except spelling- It covers everything and is so colorful and bright!
  12. I agree that there are just too many posts to wade through in the new format:(
  13. I have to agree- there are just too many pages to wade through in the new format- that you miss half of the great posts out of fatigue. :(
  14. Melissa, Thanks for the honesty- Actually by homeschooling you are doing a lot more than you give yourself credit for. You are building a child not an academic program- I just wrote about this on my blog yesterday about visualizing- Drop by- We have all had the same thoughts!
  15. Down 10 since Thanksgiving- I am new to this little group- yeah- I have had an awful week eating so that could change fast:confused:
  16. I would just sit down and do it with him. Sometimes that extra help goes a long way. I know because my 10 ds has been dragging in Math all of this month.
  17. Something that covers 5-8! What do you think? It really needs to be distinct- There is too much of a gap to wade through everything.
  18. I think I am going more to this policy. My inner soul tells me it is better- I have always felt that a more indepth education is better than a broad view of many things. I really like the brain study Lorna!
  19. I have really discovered who my kids are through the process, and love the WTM 4 year cycle- but would like to condense it more for history. I have used Prentice Hall for science and love it. I want to combine in a wealth of technology with CM/AO lit. Plus I love letting them just go off on things they want to discover-
  20. I use it and love it- I just combine united streaming- PH doesn't allow homeschoolers to do certain things- I have been very happy with it
  21. I keep them separate, except on history and science, I modify for their needs
