Karen sn
But this one DOES need it's own. What slackers here can admit that when their kid sings a song (or part of one) they're just as proud as if their kid memorized a poem? And what songs? ME: Stairway to Heaven - we do our own ballet to it. Hotel California Sweet Home Alabama Anything by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Elvis, Janis Joplin..... SonshineLearner
Ok...so I love it when my son sings this song called ,..."The Devil ain't lazy." It's by Nathan Clark George. He's a homeschooling...traveling with his family guy. Most of his songs are very scriptural; this one is just plain fun! When my little bitty 5 year old sings it... It's just funny. This song happens to be right after the song that is called "Little Trees" , about how the guy (NCG) will help his boys grow up tall.... Here it is...just in case you wanna have it:-) http://www.nathanclarkgeorge.com/music.html http://www.indieheaven.com/artist_main.php?id=72306

My son knows all the lyrics to "So long and thanks for all the fish." :D He wrote a rap chorus about Handel last year, and he is learning Plantonese (the language of Led Zepplin) with my dh. Oh and he can do a mean "Bang on the drums" when asked.
DarlaS
..The Hat. It's funny - and I'm really quite impressed! "Oh a hat is a hat A topper is a topper and you can't top that So if you got the bread I say Why not spend it on something for your head" That's the part he remembers best :D ETA: We have The Muppet Show to thank for this. He also knows their opening song quite well.
SkateLeft
My son knows all the lyrics to "So long and thanks for all the fish." :D That's a favorite in this house too! My husband thought it was hilarious to teach my older son "The Zephyr Song" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, when he was 3. Actually, he gets a kick out of teaching my kids any song he knows will drive me nuts... like showtunes, old Hall & Oates songs and the theme to Flash Gordon. It does drive me nuts, but it totally cracks me up at the same time. :D
paulcindy
My 10 yo is singing "Concrete Angel" at an open mic next week. I love that song. My only concern is, she is cute when she sings it at home, I am just not sure she is ready to sing it in public, if YKWIM?
dragons in the flower bed
My six-year-old has The Saga Begins by Weird Al memorized. He sings it when he's doing the dishes. The eleven-year-old memorizes stuff no problem, so he's always got a collection of albums in his head. He had the Rent soundtrack memorized when I met him when he was six. Josie
I enjoy it very much when my children sing any church song. I also enjoy it when they sing any Queen song! They do "Play the Game" remarkably well. Freddie Mercury would be proud! Edited March 1, 2009 by Josie
flyingmommy
My kids love Queen. My 7yo dd really loves We Will Rock You. That is her absolute favorite. That and Bohemian Rhapsody. Of course, she says Bohemedy Rhapsody...... Jeannie

(Almost, but not quite, hangs her head in shame) My kids know almost all the words to the Weezer Blue Album. I would be lying to you if I said I did not feel a sense of pride in this accomplishment. They also love Tom Petty.:) I am succeeding as a hs parent!;)
