amber in GA
My older children completed the first 4 years with SOTW...but now that my youngest is needing to start over, i'm wondering what else is out there? Any suggestions for a good alternative? amber
Julie
After STOW we used the books from Nothing New Press, the first one is called The Story of the Ancient World, my kids actually prefer them to STOW. Additionally, we have been using the MOH and Genevive Foster books. Along with that you might consider living history books that go along with the era you are in, Mara Daughter of the Nile, The Golden Goblet etc.
amber in GA
MOH was one that I was looking into...But I was wondering how much I would have to adapt it for my youngest? I saw that it is recommended for middle school kids--which is great because my 11yo dd will be doing it along with, BUT I don't want it to be a struggle for my youngest to understand. EKS
The Human Odyssey series from K12 is fabulous.
mims
I started using Mystery of History last year with my 12,10, and 7 year olds. Perfect for the oldest 2 and the tag-along got a lot out of it. She has activities for each age group. I wouldn't do the tests for the younger one but they should be perfect for the older ones. Each book does increase in difficulty so don't judge the whole series on the first one.
mamaof2andtwins
After we finished SOTW we tried MOH, but I liked SOTW so much that I just couldn't get in the grove with MOH. So, we did a little of our own thing for a while, and then started History Odyssey. Jennie
Chris in VA
You could use CHOW and coordinate some of the SOTW AG activities with it, or use something fun like Old Testament Days and some of the Sonlight reading.

HollyDay
Have you looked at Beautiful Feet? I have been impressed with their study guides. We also did MOH vol 1. I did adapt it to use with my early elementary dc with no problems.
TMarie
We decided to go with TOG after SOTW. I love that we never need to switch history programs again. :001_smile:
