I am suddenly reminded of one of the funniest pieces of literature ever written

We had a wonderful few years in the UMC I grew up in where one of the church ladies essentially made tiny shortbread cookies for communion  (hey, they were non-levened...but adding butter made it SO much better....). It was so disappointing when we got a new pastor who returned to the styrofoam hosts.

Most of the Methodists I know used to use Hawaiian bread till they discontinued the loaf. The Episcopalians and Lutherans can’t use leavening.

I am Lutheran (ELCA) and we use leavened pita bread for communion.
