bibiche
My nephew is having a birthday and is a huge fan of this show. I see that there are a number of companion cookbooks. Does anyone have a particular favorite among them?

Amy Gen
I think we have all of them, and I wouldn’t say one stands out as the best. If I was giving it as a gift, I’d include an inexpensive food scale because the recipes use weight rather than volume. 3

I gave him a baking scale last birthday, so he’s good there. Any other bits and bobs that might be required?

Laura Corin
If he doesn't have one, a Mary Berry book might be fun, as she was one of the original judges. She has specific baking books (I haven't used them): https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=mary+berry+baking&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

Apparently he prefers the Mary Berry episodes (I take it she is no longer on the show) and I did see some of her books were available. 🙂

She's fine; I just like Mary Berry. 🙂
happi duck
Once you pick the cookbook you can see if anything calls for special equipment. One possible piece of equipment: I've noticed on GBBO that contestants often use pans that can be configured in different ways. I'm not sure what they're called.
