I'm sure I still have the picture somewhere. He was soft and smelled wild and spicy. The outdoor tomcat I cared for years later had a similar scent. 🙂 I didn't know then what I know now, that it was cruel to cage the cub and take him away from his parents and siblings and use him for entertainment. BUT--like you, I would still love to hug a lion again for real! I do believe in the prophecy in the book of Isaiah, that someday "the wolf...shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them."
