I was told it needed to be surgically removed, unless I wanted to slam a huge book on my wrist, which I don't!  The PA said that they could drain it, but there was a chance in would just refill.

I was reading about the book thing. DD is terrified of needles so she thought it sounded like a fine option.😂

😄 I don't blame her.  I'm torn between needles and books; surgery just seems pricey as the thing is not super inhibiting.  It's on my right wrist and I thought it was one of those little bones out of place, but I just can't put too much weight on that wrist, so I'm in wait & see mode.

It was general. It was all very complicated as the Navy hospital ortho was shut down, so done by a Navy doc, but in a non-Navy hospital. The guy talked to her w/o her dh there and she had NO idea what he said. She didn't find out for a week what they actually did! The plan was for me to fly out to deal with it all, as her dh was supposed to be TDY, but that got postponed. But, they had massive amounts of rain, and the house molded, so no place for me to stay. Anyway, she's back to work, hobbling around on crutches, but unable to fly or run the simulator as it involves too many stairs. Another month and she can start looking at new Navy orders.

Hopes she's back to 100% soon.

General? Ugh. DD will say she'd rather live with the pain. We're assuming it is a ganglion cyst at this point.

FWIW, my daughter had hers drained. It came back. It burst several times in Aikido. It came back.

And then one day she said her fingers were tingling. I called the nurse of the ortho who had seen her, and the doctor himself called back. They scheduled surgery the next day, under general because he wanted to make sure to take his time so that she would have no damage in her fingers.

He couldn't get it all without damaging the nerve function, and ultimately she had to give up piano because it grew back every time she had a recital or competition. We consulted other specialists, and they all said that nothing more could be done.

She can still feel it, but it doesn't bother her.
