Kathryn
As a homeschooler, how did you fulfill the Second Class requirement to participate in a program about the dangers of drugs and alcohol? He's the only homeschooler in his troop (who isn't already Eagle), so the troop won't be doing this since the rest of the boys get it in school. Alice
We just talked about it as a family. It’s stuff we talk about anyway but we made a point of doing it at a dedicated time to check off that box.
Renthead Mommy
I think we did our own homeschool health class. I can’t remember exactly what is required, but I remember something about drug DARE or one of those.
Loowit
For my older son we did it as part of his health class at home. I talked to his scoutmaster ahead of time to okay it. My my youngest, we had several other scouts who needed it, so we brought in a special speaker to the troop meeting.
ashfern
My son is one of just a few homeschool kids in his troop. They did it as a troop. It's always good to reinforce that message. Our public school system does the DARE program every single year.
Miss Tick
My ds did something called "Brown Sea Island" at summer camp. The intent was to complete as many of the second class requirements as they could, "and since that one is all talking we did it there." The boys that were close to making First Class were encouraged to sign up for the Second Class thing at summer camp to help them get a head start on that level. Swtonscrappn
Our homeschool group actually called the sheriff's office and they brought us in and did a day program for us. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
DawnM
Our troop had a police station visit where the police officers presented it. You could probably do that on your own and go to the police station.
mom2scouts
Our troop had a police officer come to a meeting with his drug sniffing K9 and do a presentation.
