El...
This is terrible! The wildfires got John Erickson's house. Their family is ok. I had to make a quick amazon order over this. (I realize his per-book payment is probably tiny, but whatever.) http://amarillo.com/news/local-news/2017-03-07/author-hank-cowdog-books-loses-ranch-home-texas-wildfires

sassenach
“Naked we came into this world and naked we will leave it. But we will sure miss that house,†Erickson said. 🙠
Guest
That sucks. I am glad they are all okay though. Maybe it's time for the youngest kids to start reading about Hank. I might need to buy some books too!
ScoutTN
Ds loves Hank the Cowdog! I have enjoyed several interviews with John Erickson in World magazine over the last few years. Glad he and his family are ok!
Rachel
It is very sad but I believe they have a second home in town. At least 4 people have died as a result of the fires in that area, they really need rain.

frugalmamatx
Oh No! We met him and his wife at a convention last summer and he was so nice. Am I the only one thinking that perhaps new book where a fire burns the ranch may be the final book for Hank? After all the series has to end at some point, right? Liz CA
That sucks. I am glad they are all okay though. Maybe it's time for the youngest kids to start reading about Hank. I might need to buy some books too! Those books have been around for a while. They used to be among ds's favorites. And that was more than 10 years ago. flyingaway
That stinks. We love Hank the Cowdog around here. My high schooler mentioned him just yesterday when we were talking about unreliable narrators. Our most recent Hank purchase was in Chinese. Because we love him so, we wanted to share him and some Texas culture with an exchange student friend we have.
Bensmom
Glad they are okay! We are huge Hank fans here (and my son is 14). Hank audiobooks on kindle are awesome. When my son is cranky, over tired etc., we listen to Hank. John has to be okay and write more stories. Slim proposed the Miss Viola, but they haven't tied the knot yet. Or did I miss it?
