Sk8ermaiden
My daughter is devouring books at a rate that is very difficult to keep up with, but I would like to try! The BIG WINS so far have been the Kingdom of Wrenly books, and the Spiderwick Chronicles, which she is in the middle of. We ordered the old Usborne Spinechillers (supernatural mysteries) and she LOVED them. The Cam Jansons have been popular too. Magic Treehouse is a total flop. She wants a girl main character. She loves suspense and magic, and mysteries. Adventure works too. She is reading on a second/early third grade level. Any suggestions? Farrar
The Secrets of Droon, for sure. And look at E.D. Baker. Some of her books are on that easy end. She might like Franny K. Stein. There are some graphic novels she'd probably enjoy like Zita the Spacegirl and Amulet. Since you mention mysteries, there are the little kid Precious Ramotswe books. They're sweet. And there are tons of chapter book level mysteries out there. She might be able to read The Books of Elsewhere, which have a Spiderwick sort of vibe. Some of the things I'm thinking of are things she'll enjoy in a year or two, like Jessica Day George's books, Igraine the Brave by Cornelia Funke, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, Ronia the Robber's Daughter... mommysanders
Try A to Z Mysteries. It's a set with a book for each letter of the alphabet. The main characters are three kids and one is a girl. They solve mysteries in each book and my son loves them. He's at the same reading level as your daughter. Other books he likes are Hank the Cowdog Series Anything my Roald Dahl Magic Treehouse series Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

debi21
Ivy and Bean series. Probably easier than some, but mystery and girl protagonists and my 7 yo boy quite liked them and he reads harder stuff too. What about the Ruby Lu books? I know only that my son loved the Alvin Ho - same author with an 8 yo girl protagonist.
Tanaqui
If she does like the Ruby Lu books, she might well like the Keena Ford books, Anna Hibiscus, and Nikki and Deja. Oooh, and of course, don't forget graphic novels - Rapunzel's Revenge was an enormous hit at that age, as were the Babymouse books.

I put The Frog Princess and The Great Cake Mystery on hold at the library! We have Zita, but she has a hard time reading comics. :/ Love Cornelia Funke. I'll keep that one in mind.
